The speed can't be adjusted
I already have a nice broadcast spreader, but I wanted to try this handheld model for smaller jobs, when I just want to apply fertilizer and/or weed killer to a smaller area of my yard. Also, I already own several Dewalt batteries, which are required in order to use it. However, when I tried it out, I was disappointed to find out that the product description is wrong. It supposedly has 8 volume settings and 6 speed settings. But the truth is that it only has 5 volume settings (1-5, 0 is closed) and NO speed settings. It only operates at one speed, which is pretty fast. So you need to be careful with this spreader. If you set the volume too high, you're going to dispense too much product at one time. I had to experiment with it to figure out a setting that worked for me. I am really not happy with this spreader since it doesn't work like I thought it would, but I am still able to use it.
