Out of the box, this bar impresses with its weight. One important thing to keep in mind is for sturdiness and longevity, this needs to be mounted into a stud. Simple drywall mounts will not hold up over time due to the weight of the bar itself and the added pressure of it being used over time. The addition of a TP holder just adds to the coolness factor of this bar. Installation can be complicated if you're not familiar with how to properly use drywall anchors (again, not recommended), and this isn't very comfortable to hold onto due to the nature of the metal used. The inclusion of a soft sleeve to go around the handle would be nice ,but it's not a deal killer. Because of its functionality, I can highly recommend this bar. ... show more

This item is a good weight, not heavy and not light weight. Feels sturdy. As soon as I saw it, i gave it try because my mother is up in age and sometimes needs a little help getting up and this piece serves a dual function. Although it says right hand, I will have this installed on the left as that is simply the way my bathroom is oriented and from the wall tests it seems it will work just fine - and from the photos you’ll observe it can be placed either horizontally or vertically. We will opt for the horizontal placement. I was hoping to have had it installed by this point, however still waiting on my install person. It comes with all the pieces and screws necessary to anchor it to the wall. I however have one concern - a thin metal disc that is supposed to keep the roll of paper in place, if the roll of paper gets small and the individual’s hand brushes against it can they get a cut as a result. Natural concerns, something i will have to closely look at and try to determine as I think about it (disc not shown in the wall test photos). ... show more

This TP holder and grab bar serves two vital roles in the water closet. Nice to have something sturdy and close at hand, when balance could become an issue. And having a second roll handy never hurts either. Solid construction and mounts up easily with a little bit of measuring and alignment. Review for Right Hand Toilet Paper Holder Grab Bar 16 Inch. I just got this grab bar today, and I immediately installed it. I have some nicer grab bars in both of my bathrooms, and I like for every towel bar and toilet paper holder to be a grab bar. The strength of a grab bar is only as great as what material you screw it into. Thus, a grab bar that is screwed into sheetrock will not hold as much weight as a grab bar that is screwed into a wood stud in the wall. The main purpose of a grab bar is to hold a person's weight when they are about to fall. Unfortunately, this grab bar's screw holes are not 16" on center. The total length of the grab bar is 16", but the screw holes are not. Unless you have wood blocks installed between your studs (because you had planned for grab bar installation at the time of your home's construction), you will not be able to install this grab bar into 2 studs. Only one end will be able to be installed into a wood stud while the other end will have to use the provided wall plugs. This is a huge problem for a grab bar, as it reduces the amount of weight that the grab bar can hold. The second issue with this grab bar is the toilet paper stop. It is sharp and will be a hazard if someone actually falls and hits it. I removed this metal disc along with the stop (that was preinstalled) to hold the disc. The curve of the grab bar is enough to hold the rolls of toilet paper in place. Grab bars should never have any sharp edges on them. The top "leg" of the grab bar, where they added the connector, isn't exactly the smoothest. I expect joints to be smooth. This one will be a dust catcher. And lastly, this grab bar is going to damage your sheetrock when you install it. Every time you put weight on the grab bar, the metal connector ring is going to dig into your wall. It needs a rubber gasket under the metal ring that is next to the wall to help prevent wall damage over time. Overall, I consider this a medium grade grab bar. I like the idea of a grab bar also being a toilet paper roll holder. However, the grab bar needs to have its attachment screw holes 16" apart and to find another toilet paper stop. ... show more

    • Needs sturdier hardware
If you really want this to bear any weight, I advise you to go to the hardware store first and pick up some load bearing screws. Grab a stud finder while your there. If you skip these steps, you will end up at the store anyway, for Sheetrock patch. The design itself is nice. And the metal color is perfect for my bathroom. It’s easy to change the roll, and when it’s securely attached to the wall, it’s a real help for the elderly to use. ... show more
