  • Great for the drive in
Color: Red/black Style: Single
The media could not be loaded. Bought this stereo for our local drive in movie theater. I don’t like using my car radio because of my battery so I wanted to buy an old fashioned boombox/ radio. The sound is good enough for me. Great for a picnic or just getting some music around the house. I will say the only complain I have is it was really really hard to open the battery compartment. I unscrewed the 3 screws that were around the battery compartment and it would not budge. I thought maybe I’m supposed to unscrew the two on the side tried that and nearly had the stereo open in half. Put the screws back on and kept the 3 around the compartment out. I had to use a pocket knife to force it open. I mean eventually it did open but damn I did not think it would be such a struggle. So just be prepared to use your force. Other than that works great sound is great volume is great. ... show more

The sound wasn’t all that great, but I liked that it had a radio in it. It worked well.

  • You get what you pay for
Color: Black Style: Single
Got this for my dad who is elderly. He wanted a cheap simple boombox to listen to some Christian music on. There are more expensive ones that go for $30-$40, but I was surprised CD players seem to be generally somewhat rare. I wanted something that was easy to use that someone who doesn't know much English can use it, and this was the product. 1) Controls are straightforward. Fast forward, Rewind, Skip Track, Shuffle, Repeat, etc. 2) Programmable tracklist, ala old style Sony Walkman where you have to go to each track and input it manually 3) AM/FM function. 4) Volume knob instead of buttons - I actually like that way more because it allows you to more easily adjust the volume. 5) Line in function in case you want to use your boombox as a speaker. As for the speaker - it is cheap. It sounds very tinny, like sound that's being played inside a box instead of sound leaving the box. It's perfectly fine for a $20 piece of hardware, but if you're an audiophile you are going to be sorely disappointed. For me, all that my dad cares about is it plays some CD music, and because it's the cheapest thing on Amazon that works, it really is all you need. The bonus of it is that you can stick batteries in it and take it somewhere. The batteries don't last that long, maybe a day's worth at most of playing. Use Duracell Optimas if you have to. Otherwise there's a power plug which gives you infinite days worth of playing. You need a total of 9 C size batteries. What's unfortunate is batteries are usually sold in multiples of 2, so you're gonna have to buy an extra pack on top of an 8-pack. The overall construction is very cheap feeling. Plastic feels cheap, speaker is mediocre, buttons feel plasticky. The thing has a handle you can swing out but it doesn't appear to latch on. However, for $20, what do you expect from a piece of tech that is outdated? It is a nice design though. Sleek black with a bit of silver trimming. A lot of people here are complaining about receiving broken units. For what it's worth, my unit came with a scuffed cover, so I suspect there's a lot of returns that Amazon gets but is failing to procses as "Used" in their Amazon Renewed program. The unit is too cheap to bother returning. It does its job, scuff marks and all. So for its price, yes, it's pretty decent. Don't expect to be blown away by it. If you want better sound quality, you're really better off playing CDs off of a laptop with a bluetooth speaker or something along those lines. But if you have an oldschool dad like me, this is enough, and the radio can also be switched to if he wants additional variety. ... show more

  • It stops/glitches sometimes
Color: Black Style: Single
Sometimes near the end of the album it might skip or stop completely but for the price it’s very good, works well with the cord or batteries. Very good for the price

  • Boom Box with no BOOM
Color: Black Style: Single
I took a couple of stars off because 1. No base or place to plug in headphones. The volumn is loud, but there is no Boom in the base. The sound is rather tinny. 2. The on off and radio switch is hidden in the back, so if you can memorize, You have turn the radio all the way around. What I like: The small size, the style and handle with the choice of plug in or battery. I live in an area that looses power so I have music even with the net goes down. I would not buy again if I really wanted quality music listening. Best to go bigger boom and put more money into it. ... show more
