Update 3: customer support has been excellent so far. The new device is great. Something was definitely wrong with the old one- it never knew when the ice container was open or closed, and the Wi-Fi scheduling didn't work. I assumed I was not opening it correctly, but I think that last one had a couple wires loose. Hopefully this one is built to last- it certainly feels like it is! Update 2: started a ticket on the app, they are going to send me another machine asap. I certainly hope this one works for a few years! Hopefully this was just a weird fluke on a new production machine, because this thing does feel extremely well built. I'm going to move this back to three stars for the moment just because of the excellent service and I will move it back up if all goes well! EDIT: after only owning this for a few days, I heard a loud bang from the next room over. The machine never stopped making ice when it was full and tore the top off of the machine. We'll see how their warranty works. Ignore the below: At a glance: Yes, this machine is expensive. You can easily find a pellet ice maker for half the price, but if that is the only thing you can judge this by, you're missing the point. This machine is positioned as premium and it certainly feels premium. It's also very large compared to other ice makers- I would highly recommend measuring your countertop before ordering. The ice it makes is about perfect as you can get. It's chewy, but still manages to hold its shape in drinks. This machine is also thoughtfully designed. My previous machine required me to pick it up and move it to the sink to drain it, but that isn't the case with this machine. There are hoses hooked to the back of the machine so you can drain and clean it with just container to hold the used water/cleaning solution. It's very well designed and despite the absurd number of features it is easy to operate. It really appears actual thought was put into it- it even changes the RGB lighting to white when you open the drawer for better visibility. Only time will tell if this machine holds up over the long term, but I am confident it will. It appears to be quite well built and is heavy. It also has a 3-year warranty, which is more than you can say for any other nugget ice maker I've seen.

Best Ice maker I've ever had. SUPER QUICK and can be controlled via app to wake it up when you need it to begin the duty cycle. Looks great, built very well, holds a ton of water and easy to clean. Very fast production and ice actually stays formed for a long time. It's a very heavy machine, built like a tank and well worth the price of admission You only get what you pay for.

I got this ice machine for multiple reasons. 1. Durability: I got tired of replacing my small $120ish ice makers every 1 to 2 years because of broken or faulty parts. For as expensive as they are, they shouldn't be an annual subscription. This this comes with a 3 year warranty off the bat. 2. Dirtiness: I got tired manually deep cleaning machines every couple of months. Despite staying closed they somehow got disgusting in almost impossible to reach places pretty frequently. I'm excited for this machine's auto cleaning and descaling features! 3. Availability: The small machines would always run out of water without warning, or have errors and not make ice until restarting and found myself always without ice. This new ice machine has notifications for low water, errors, and nearly 2 gallons of water storage! 4. Noise: although the other ice machines are completely silent while running, they are jarringly loud when dispensing/dumping ice, compressing, and refilling. This new machine unfortunately does have a constant hum akin to a microwave running, but it's a constant white noise without any sudden explosions. I know it's a running joke having everything be a smart appliance but being able to schedule ice times, cleaning, and basic notifications is nice to have. Now, the size of this thing is ridiculous. When I first saw the box on my porch, I thought my wife bought a new car or something. Also, the price is a bit much. I bought it with the first week so I got it cheaper and with a nice air purifier so it's completely reasonable for me, but without that sale or promotion, the price is a bit steep. Love this ice maker! We've had several nugget ice maker. First was a commercial, built-in. That one made great ice, but it was a nightmare to keep clean. The next few were countertop versions. One was the first generation Opal. This one is by far superior to all of them. Right out of the box the set up was simple. The machine is large, nice looking, quiet, and makes fantastic nuggets. Five adults use the machine all day, every day and we never run out. The app is also easy to use.

Broke within 24 hours of delivery. First it screeched terribly which, per the manual can be a sign of icing up, and the fix is to simply turn it off and let it thaw...which we did. That was after about 90 minutes of total operation. Today it stopped making ice, believing the ice bin was full when it was actually empty. I unplugged the machine and plugged it back in. It self diagnosed with the E2 code. We're returning this and getting the Opal.
