I got this ice machine for multiple reasons. 1. Durability: I got tired of replacing my small $120ish ice makers every 1 to 2 years because of broken or faulty parts. For as expensive as they are, they shouldn't be an annual subscription. This this comes with a 3 year warranty off the bat. 2. Dirtiness: I got tired manually deep cleaning machines every couple of months. Despite staying closed they somehow got disgusting in almost impossible to reach places pretty frequently. I'm excited for this machine's auto cleaning and descaling features! 3. Availability: The small machines would always run out of water without warning, or have errors and not make ice until restarting and found myself always without ice. This new ice machine has notifications for low water, errors, and nearly 2 gallons of water storage! 4. Noise: although the other ice machines are completely silent while running, they are jarringly loud when dispensing/dumping ice, compressing, and refilling. This new machine unfortunately does have a constant hum akin to a microwave running, but it's a constant white noise without any sudden explosions. I know it's a running joke having everything be a smart appliance but being able to schedule ice times, cleaning, and basic notifications is nice to have. Now, the size of this thing is ridiculous. When I first saw the box on my porch, I thought my wife bought a new car or something. Also, the price is a bit much. I bought it with the first week so I got it cheaper and with a nice air purifier so it's completely reasonable for me, but without that sale or promotion, the price is a bit steep. This review will be updated over time. This is my initial impression. I've gone through 3 of the 'Opal' nugget makers. They all last a year then get loud and die. I've cleaned, descaled, torn apart and cleaned but it never works. I gave up until another option came along. I saw this and had to try. My family goes through a ton of ice and we typically have to buy a bag a week in addition to the ice maker in our fridge. Initial impression - looks beautiful. Setup was super easy. The silicone tube for the side water reservoir is a little short for a left side mount, but it works. I unboxed everything, cleaned the main unit, and put it place. Once I added water and plugged it in I started cleaning the side tank. By the time I got it rinsed and mounted there was already ice in the hopper! Nice, small, compact, crunchy ice. After an hour the ice hopper was half full. Very impressive! Initial impressions are positive. It makes ice faster than the previous one and build quality is solid. Ice creation seems good so far. I have not run a cleaning schedule yet but will update once complete. Right now hopes are up that this will last longer than the other one.

Update 3: customer support has been excellent so far. The new device is great. Something was definitely wrong with the old one- it never knew when the ice container was open or closed, and the Wi-Fi scheduling didn't work. I assumed I was not opening it correctly, but I think that last one had a couple wires loose. Hopefully this one is built to last- it certainly feels like it is! Update 2: started a ticket on the app, they are going to send me another machine asap. I certainly hope this one works for a few years! Hopefully this was just a weird fluke on a new production machine, because this thing does feel extremely well built. I'm going to move this back to three stars for the moment just because of the excellent service and I will move it back up if all goes well! EDIT: after only owning this for a few days, I heard a loud bang from the next room over. The machine never stopped making ice when it was full and tore the top off of the machine. We'll see how their warranty works. Ignore the below: At a glance: Yes, this machine is expensive. You can easily find a pellet ice maker for half the price, but if that is the only thing you can judge this by, you're missing the point. This machine is positioned as premium and it certainly feels premium. It's also very large compared to other ice makers- I would highly recommend measuring your countertop before ordering. The ice it makes is about perfect as you can get. It's chewy, but still manages to hold its shape in drinks. This machine is also thoughtfully designed. My previous machine required me to pick it up and move it to the sink to drain it, but that isn't the case with this machine. There are hoses hooked to the back of the machine so you can drain and clean it with just container to hold the used water/cleaning solution. It's very well designed and despite the absurd number of features it is easy to operate. It really appears actual thought was put into it- it even changes the RGB lighting to white when you open the drawer for better visibility. Only time will tell if this machine holds up over the long term, but I am confident it will. It appears to be quite well built and is heavy. It also has a 3-year warranty, which is more than you can say for any other nugget ice maker I've seen.

Love this purchase. We use this daily and we have a large family of 6 people and it produces enough to keep up with us no problem. It runs Greta and is very quiet. It is a good size for your counter top. Easy to use and great value. It is heavy but works great. Produces ice about every 10 mins or so and keeps it in frozen form for about 2 hrs if tray is full before it starts producing more ice.

This has been hands down the best ice maker I have used. I have went through 2 different GE Opal ice makers. I had the Opal 2.0 and the Opal 2.0 ultra. Both ice makers could not keep up with my family of 7. They were cleaned/descaled weekly and still would bark loudly every day, requiring manual defrosting. Both machines would start deteriorating after about a month. I have had this machine for 4 months now and it is still whisper quiet compared to the GE models. It has a bigger side tank, a bigger ice bin, a more user friendly app and more customizations. It does what it is supposed to do, make ice. I am now a GoVee fan and am exciting to try their other products.

Best Ice maker I've ever had. SUPER QUICK and can be controlled via app to wake it up when you need it to begin the duty cycle. Looks great, built very well, holds a ton of water and easy to clean. Very fast production and ice actually stays formed for a long time. It's a very heavy machine, built like a tank and well worth the price of admission You only get what you pay for.

After the first unit was delivered defective, leaking oil. Govee Support sent a replacement. So far it is working. Make sure you pull the ice bucket all the way out when getting ice. If you don't, the unit will not start making ice again. Also, had a couple of instances where it says it was making ice but it wasnt. The first time we had to turn it completely off amd back on to get it to make ice. The second time I pushed the stop button and then the start and it began making ice. This is very heavy but makes a lot of ice. Customer Service was very responsive. App is easy to setup and create schedules so it doesn't run all night. This is our third ice maker and it is way quieter than the others, barely notice it is on.
