The calibrated image still has slight distortion. Will it affect color capturing? It will not affect the color capture area and sync. It is typical for the corrected image to be slightly curved. Due to the differences in TV panels, color adjustment is required after completing the camera correction to get the closest color to TVs. Why can the camera be installed on the top of the TV only? The camera must be installed on top of the TV to prevent ceiling light from being reflected on the TV screen, affecting the color-picking results and obtaining a better viewing experience. How do I reinforce the LED strip light and camera? Press firmly when sticking the strip light and use the provided cable clips to reinforce. The extra 3M stickers can be attached to the counterweight's silicone grip for additional attachment strength. Do you have to have 2.4G Wi-Fi for the backlight to match and react with your TV screen? A 2.4 G Wi-Fi connection is required to connect the light and use with Video Mode. 5G is not supported. What TV thickness range is suitable for the 3 Lite TV light strip? Great product, makes a significant enhancement to the viewing experience. The colors are very vibrant and like that you can control the saturation and intensity of the brightness. I think this would have good versatility, for many types of setups, I mostly use mine to play music but the performance on regular videos seem to preform well and and consistent with the colors. The camera on top isn't that distracting for my tv and the weight to it ads extra stability from falling.

The first one we received was a dud. It initially connected fine, calibrated alright, etc. but as soon as we went to actually use it after the set up, it was just wonky. The colors were extremely dim and only part of the lights would work. Seemed as though there was a short somewhere. However, we reached out to Govee directly for their quick replacement in the app, and they sure were quick! They replied and asked us to do a few troubleshooting steps (which we already did, but appreciated the information nonetheless in case it was a quick fix cause you never know), and when nothing worked, they sent us a new one right away! They didn't even ask for the old one back, just said to toss it. Awesome customer service which reassures us we are investing in the right brand, and will continue purchasing products from Govee! Now that we have the new one, it has been GREAT! The colors as so vibrant, and when the screen is dark the lights go off. It really helps make your area more of a home theatre. Really easy to set up, and very customizable. The only complaint I have is regarding the camera. It doesn't really secure to the top of the screen. We have our TV mounted, and it tilts forward a little bit, so getting the camera to be properly positioned & stay put can be a bit of a challenge.

I love it so far. Very easy to set up with lots of different options but ofcourse you have to go with color tracking. Had to tweak it a little as it can show colors not present but very easy to tweak to get it right. Can be very bright or dim depending what you like. Overall if it’s in your budget I say get it. Just know the closer the tv is to the wall the less it can pop like you see in my photos. The bottom left corner is closer to the wall so it’s not as bright.

The Govee TV Backlight 3 Lite transformed my TV-watching experience. Installation was quick, the adhesive holds well, and the calibration process is a little tricky and will take time to get right, from mapping out the TV size to setting the light quality up within the app. But the light quality is good and works best in rooms which are very dark with no external light sources to influence the color the camera picks up. The ambient lighting makes movies and gaming feel more immersive without being distracting. The app controls are intuitive, and the customization options let you fine‑tune everything from brightness to color modes. If you want an easy, affordable way to elevate your TV experience, this backlight delivers as promised.

I’ve been using the Govee TV Backlight 3 Lite on my 83" LG OLED, and it’s been a fantastic addition for demos, gaming, and movie nights. The lighting adds a whole new level of immersion to the room, and I really appreciate how the brightness levels can be fine-tuned to match the mood or ambient light—not too overpowering, but just enough to enhance the screen. Installation was straightforward, and the camera mounts easily above the TV. The included adhesive and layout guide made placement simple, and I had it physically installed in under 30 minutes. The Home Assistant integration was a nice bonus—after setup, I was able to automate lighting scenes for different inputs or times of day, which feels pretty high-tech. The color accuracy is decent, but not perfect. For most content, especially high-contrast scenes and slower-paced visuals, it syncs beautifully and gives you that wow factor. But during fast action scenes or content with subtle gradients, the colors can drift or lag slightly. It’s not a dealbreaker, but if you're a stickler for perfect accuracy, it may need some manual tuning. The calibration process is hit or miss—I found it manageable, but it did take a few tries to get it dialed in just right. Some may find this part a bit tedious, especially if you're not used to camera-based lighting systems. Is it worth the price? For me, absolutely—the immersive lighting, app control, and voice compatibility with Alexa/Google make it feel like a premium smart home upgrade. The kit comes with everything you may need to install. I used this on a 43” LG TV (UT75 Series LED, Model #43UT7590PUA) and it worked/fit great with no issues. The TV has limited space on the rear left (if facing screen) but it fits there with no issues and looks/performs perfect. Installation was a breeze and required no extra tools. I installed it while the the TV was mounted to a (full-motion) wall mount - I considered taking the TV off the wall for easier installation but I had zero issues with it being mounted while I installed the kit. I was surprised* how customizable everything once was downloading the app. I won’t be using it on “video” mode all that often, but it works well. The initial calibration took some time as the image showed up "broken" and I had to refresh it quite a few times - but once you calibrate it the first time you will not have to do it again. It’s got a ton of effect / theme options but you can also customize the solid light modes greatly in different regions - not just the colors but also the brightness of each region. I was impressed with all the options and ability to save themes you create. I’d definitely recommend this product if you’re looking for your first kit or to replace an older or dingy looking kit. This one looks great and doesn’t make the rear of the TV look tacky. The only change I would make would be to include some additional hardware to take care of any slack wire at the corners but that’s only noticeable from wide side angles and easy to fix yourself with any adhesive strips or electrical tape, etc. (it came with 2 spare clips and some spare double sided adhesive tape). TLDR; This is a fantastic high quality backlight with a ton of customizable features and I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for a backlight. * EDIT: I edited my review to fix a spelling mistake.

I am new to the backlight scene so I was a bit skeptical. I ordered this kit based on many recommendations, and am very pleased. The installation was easy and well thought through. I followed the instructions exactly, including where to start the lights on the back of the TV, and everything set up perfectly. I now have it integrated with both Alexa and Google Home. Getting the color settings was a bit tricky. I ended up setting the white point all the way to the left and the saturation all the way to the left. This gave me a nice backdrop of color without exuding a blinding party atmosphere. I really enjoy it for music. I play music on my Apple TV and play the sheep visualizer with the light setting in sound mode. It is amazing. Watching movies is more immersive without being distracting. This kit is well engineered and thought through. I do have some quibbles. The USB-C cable sticks out of the back of the camera. I have a flush-mount TV, and with the cable attached could not push the TV all the way back. I am going to order a 90-degree USB-C adapter to see if that works and will fix the problem. If you have a regular sized phone, the screen calibration is very difficult for large TVs such as mine because the calibration pads are so small to see. I eventually got it perfect, but it took a lot of trial and error. I wish the unit had some kind of HDMI port or IR adapter so that it would turn on and off with the TV. I tried Alexa and Google Home automations without success. They have a feature that turns it off automatically if it detects a static screen for a long period or black. This did not work for my TV. Overall I am very pleased and would definitely recommend it.
