I'm always doing a lot of projects, including recently drying in the patio under our 50' x 20' deck, so I've been upgrading a lot of lights and other electronics as I go. Although I don't love the Govee app, even though it's come a LOOONG way over the years, these bulbs seem really good. I'm using about 14 of these 1,200 Lumen BR30s around the house, including under my recently dried-in deck. I also have a bunch of other Govees around the house, and they've recently become my go-to color-changing bulbs. I even ditched my old Philips Hues to get more Govees. These 1,200 lumen BR30s are very bright with 4000+ K white color selected. They don't always say they're connected on my phone, but they still respond to commands. Additionally, even though Rufus (Amazon) says they don't, they do work with dimmers - well, at least they work with the Kasa Smart Dimmer Switch HS220 - I can't speak for any other dimmers (yet). With the Kasa HS220, they dim appropriately, regardless of selected color, but they must be set at 100% lumens in the Govee app, at which point I can use the Kasa to dim them from the wall switch or via Alexa through Kasa. I obviously know I can also dim them (change colors , etc.) with Alexa without the Kasa switch, but sometimes the wall switch is just easier for my wife because she can't always remember the Alexa routine triggers (I have a ton of smart products around the house and exponentially more routines - a lot with weird names). I've only been playing with these BR30s for a few days, so only time will tell if they keep working well, but I'll update my review accordingly, if they don't.

I have tried several smart bulb brands and these Govee bulbs might be the best overall package I have used. The combination of features, brightness, color accuracy, and app functionality puts them ahead of more expensive competitors. The 1200 lumen brightness is legitimately bright. These can fully illuminate a room as your primary light source, not just accent lighting. Many color bulbs sacrifice brightness for features, but these deliver both. Even at full white, they put out serious light that works for reading, cooking, or any task that needs good illumination. Color accuracy and range are impressive. The RGBWW spectrum gives you rich, saturated colors that actually look like what you select in the app. Reds are genuinely red, not orange. Blues are deep and vibrant. The warm to cool white range covers everything from cozy evening ambiance to bright daylight working conditions. The transitions between colors are smooth with no flickering. The Govee app is excellent. It is intuitive, responsive, and packed with features without feeling overwhelming. Creating scenes and schedules is straightforward. The music sync feature actually works well and responds accurately to beat and rhythm. Voice control through Alexa and Google Home integrates seamlessly. No lag, no failed commands, just reliable smart home control. Installation is literally just screwing in a light bulb. No hub required, connects directly to WiFi. Setup took maybe two minutes per bulb. Once configured, they stay connected reliably without random disconnects or needing to be reset like some other brands. The BR30 form factor is perfect for recessed lighting. They fit standard cans without any issues and the beam spread covers the room evenly. If you have recessed lights and want to add smart color capability, these are ideal. Energy efficiency is solid. These sip power compared to the old incandescent bulbs they replaced, and even compared to some other LED smart bulbs. Lower electricity bills plus all the smart features make them a practical upgrade, not just a cool gadget. For anyone looking to add smart lighting to their home, start here. These deliver everything you want from smart bulbs at a price that makes outfitting multiple rooms realistic. The lights were super easy to connect in the Govee app as well as in Alexa and they work really great for anyone looking to have smart lights. They don’t get too hot and the color quality is really good. They do have some delay if you want to set them to change or turn on at certain times which is kind of annoying. You can turn your lights on or off from anywhere on the Govee app or on Alexa as long as the light switch is turned on. Leaving the light switches on all of the time only makes your electric bill go up by a couple cents a month for anyone worried about that. My biggest issue is that I received two of these lights as a gift, and then bought two more since our living room has four lights. Two of these lights appear a different color when setting them to certain shades. If I tell Alexa to change the lights to orange for example, two of them will be orange, and the other two will be more of a neon yellow. And they do this for several of the colors. If you want them to be the same exact shade you have to go into the govee app and manually change the color on the color wheel.
