After an initial purchase of a few Avatar bulbs, I went all out and did my entire house in them. They were in every case a pain in the patootie to set up with the Avatar app. Things got better when I circumvented the Avatar app and used the Tuya app instead, which was evidently the source of the Avatar app, but somehow just different enough to work a bit better. I still had to fiddle with my router and assign MAC addresses and generally bully things into doing what the app promised they would do seamlessly. However, Alexa did indeed accept them once I activated the relevant skill, and we (she and I) did pretty well with turning things on and off both randomly and according to schedules, dimming and brightening, and changing colors according to whim. Not all my programming worked reliably, but enough so I was happy with the outcome. So far so good. Approximately 18 months down the road various bulbs began to flicker, a bit like candle light which was atmospheric and kind of pretty. At first it was almost imperceptible and then more it became more noticeable, and then the light got dimmer and dimmer until it was essentially useless if I was trying to get any work done. Not every bulb. Some are still going strong. But quite a few gave up trying. My guess is there is a quality control problem. I did have to return some bulbs which simply never worked, but when I got their replacements we moved forward reasonably well. I noticed some bulbs weighed substantially more than others, but I haven’t been focused enough to track which performed better, sorry. Anyhow, eventually the situation became intolerable and I spent a couple of hours reading reviews here about various manufacturers of smart bulbs. I settled on Govee. What a difference! The latching-on procedure is seamless and fast, and unlike Avatar doesn’t require multiple, anxious attempts while the progress wheel churns and churns. And then, Alexa says, Hello Darling, and we’re off to the races. Even if the Govee bulbs die within a year, I figure I’m ahead just because of the near-total absence of set-up frustration. I spent maybe three days, on and off, getting the Avatar bulbs to shake hands with my router. So, there you have it.

These bulbs produce bright warm whites, clear cool whites, and the most vivid colors out of the many RGBW bulbs I've tried over the years. I've replaced all of my Phillips Hue bulbs at this point. I'll keep them around for some obscure spot where I need a bulb someday (I'm thinking of setting some up in the basement), but for the rest of the house, I'm sticking with Govee, who also has a huge and rapidly growing lineup of other products that integrate seamlessly with each other and can create some really cool lighting effects when combined. Their neon light strips blow Hue's options out of the water at a fraction of the price. I even added their humidifier and air purifier to my smart home set up for compatibility's sake and found that they're great as well. Can't go wrong with these.

The media could not be loaded. This is the first product I've ever purchased from Govee and I purchased based on reviews. The price point for multi-pack bulbs also aided in decision making as it was less expensive than most other bulbs. The setup was easy and works with Alexa. The appearance is just like other color changing bulbs. A review states "It says they are able to sync to music audio and that feature isn’t on there within the Govee app" , that isn't correct. It does sync to music audio and it has three modes which affects flickering of the color change. I had mine on calm ☺️. Overall so far the bulbs do exactly what it claims to do. The reason for the four stars and not five is due to having to download the Govee app. Though, before installing it has the option to read about what data is and isn't collected. It just might be a ploy in hopes of consumers purchasing more Govee smart products for ease of usage instead of switching to a different brand and having to install yet another app. The app is definitely not user friendly so some updates would be great. However, the app is the only way to access the color wheel, scenes, etc to find the color of your liking. It doesn't hurt to give these bulbs a try because if it's not to your liking, it's returnable.

The brightness and quality are excellent, especially since I've tried other lower priced bulbs and was severely disappointed. The only "bad" thing I could even think to say about this bulb isn't even about the bulb itself is more that I wish the app had a few more features like a fade between colors option or if more PC software software would support it since it connects with Bluetooth and/or WiFi but still only works with the Govee phone app.. more connectivity/features = 5 stars easily.

I'm very happy with my purchase. I have been debating on which smart bulb brand to get since there are so many choices out there, I purchased these based on the high rating of not only these bulbs, but all of the products made by this company, and I'm happy I did! I love how many lighting choices I have, and I control all of them from my phone. When I have them set to just white they're very bright, but the perfect brightness, soft on your eyes. I suffer from migraines and lighting can set them off easily and I haven't had any issues with these at their brightest. Thank You Govee!

This previously was a one star review, but I’m changing it to a 5 star one because I’m an idiot and didn’t follow directions. One of the first steps in this lights instructions is to create an account on the govee app. DO THIS, OR IT WILL NOT CONNECT TO WIFI! You’ll still be able to control it via Bluetooth if you don’t, but if you want the wifi features, you must create an account first. Brightness is great, the dim settings are awesome, and the color range is fantastic. Couldn’t be happier.
