I’ve been using the Govee RGBIC String Downlights for a bit now, and honestly, the lighting effect is incredible. They are super bright and definitely deliver the vibe I was looking for in my media room. If you care about aesthetics and want that high-quality, colorful glow, these lights absolutely nail it. The way they cast light creates a really cool atmosphere, so if brightness and visual impact are your main goals, you won’t be disappointed with the performance itself. However, the installation process has some annoying quirks that I wish were handled better. The biggest headache for me was realizing that the power plug is fixed on one side. I didn’t have an outlet on the right side of my wall, so I had to use an extension cord just to make it work, which made the setup look a bit messy. I feel like Govee should design the ends so power can be connected from either side—that would save so much hassle for people with fixed outlet locations. It’s a small detail, but it definitely complicates the setup if your room isn’t laid out perfectly for it. On top of that, the adhesive isn’t as strong as I’d hoped, and the white color of the lights clashed with my matte black walls. I actually ended up spray-painting them to match my decor, which shouldn’t be necessary for a premium product. If Govee ever releases a second generation, I really hope they offer a black option and improve the adhesive. It’s a great light, but you need to be prepared to do some extra work to make it look clean and stay put.

Yet another knockout Govee product. These sync with DreamView for syncing with your TV if you have that setup. They also work with various home automations platforms if you want to control them (Home Assistant). They are plenty bright. They are primary above my bedroom and they actually match the brightness of my two recessed downlights (Govee). The people who claim they are not bright are confusing brightness with attenuation. They are focused downlights and they are not designed to attenuate and light large volumes of space. The brightness is great and they are ideal for an accent wall, above a bed, gamer space or above a TV / media center wall. They have a wide color range, they work best in RGB mode if you want to match them with other Govee lights as the whites and yellow tones are not identical when you adjust them in color values like 3000k. This won't make sense to you unless you use home automation. In RGB mode they are identical to all my other Govee lights. They have a wide variety of premade scenes and effects and they are all cool. The Govee app is stellar as always. As for the sticky pads not being strong enough - some people say that on walls with ridges or textures they don't stick well. It's ok if you are adhesion challenged. Thousands of people are, see a doctor, don't be ashamed. For the rest of us - properly apply them. IPA Alcohol (90+) on all surfaces and wipe with lint free clothes. This is basic and how you peoperly apply adhesives. Not sure why this is hard for people. My walls are third world and have ridges, textures, they are concrete and painted. They stick well and even handle our ridiculous heat and the adhesive holds up. It's really good quality 3M. Just take your time and do it properly. On smooth or sheetrock walls as long as you wipe them down and hold pressure for 30+ seconds you will get great results. The build quality is premium. You know it's Govee when you open the box. Everything about the packaging and even the type of box and ink used feels premium. It's really ironic since Govee is a budget option yet so good. The wire is stellar quality, light housings are great and the drivers too - they dim with 0 flicker or noise. The actual light lense covers are gorgeously designed and slightly frosted to direct light in the perfect way. Govee, you did it again. Take all my money.

This was a great purchase. It was put in a podcast room my husband is designing and I am thinking of getting more to put in another room of our house that we use for media and kids play area. I did have some issues with adhesion on a few lights but after going back over all lights a second time, they seem to be sticking better. It was definitely a great addition to the room.

We absolutely love these lights. My husband installed them using Command outdoor clips on either side of each downlight (we’re renting at the moment), and it worked perfectly without damaging the walls. The installation wasn’t difficult, but it did take him a couple of hours to get everything lined up neatly. The lights paired instantly with the Govee App, and from there you can customize everything – colours, patterns, brightness, and more. Govee includes a huge selection of preset scenes, plus a DIY mode, a colour wheel, and even a shared space where users upload their own designs. These downlights can also sync to music, and they integrate beautifully with our other Govee lights in DreamView mode, which makes the whole room feel unified and immersive. We’ve always found Govee products to be reliable and consistent, and these downlights are no exception. Vibrant colours, smooth animations, and endless customization.

I absolutely love these. They’re not as bright as the Govee COB strip light, which is perfect for the wall behind the TV. Great colors, easy to setup and use, 10/10, no notes.

I bought these because I wanted something better than LED strip lights. They are RGBW and the app is good enough. It works with Alexa and is bright and good at setting a mood for a room. The roommate saw these so they became Christmas presents this year. I wish they were a little cheaper but they are much more affordable than the Phillips lights. At some point I may also see if I can get them working with WLED (I have read that others have had luck with that) The fact that I could switch the controller out pushed me over the purchase line since anything cheaper you cant trust the support of the app for long and often no one can get the to work with 3rd party controllers. I wish that Govee was more open source and had better APIs to access this locally but I figure the market will deliver eventually. Everyone in the house are happy with them and they were easy to install.

Was very excited for these, but despite cleaning the walls and following install instructions they fell down within 2 weeks of putting them up. It would be helpful to have a secondary way of installing them if needed. We also with there were a way to connect more than two. We missed the return window but would have returned if we could.

If you’re looking for an upgrade from RGB strip lights, this is a definite purchase. I especially like the regular white lightning and temperature adjustment. The GoVee app is easy to use and the UI is definitely a lot of cleaner than other smart lightning apps. It has some nice preset scenes too in the app. There are a few issues I found with the lights. For one the length for the price is especially expensive. In my opinion the smaller lengths only fit well in the bedrooms. I tried setting them in my living room but found them to be too short. You definitely need the 30 ft + for a larger space. The other glaring issue is that the lights can only be placed going to the right of an outlet. This can limit where you actually can display them on your walls.
