Overall I’m pretty happy with the string lights. Others complain of not being bright enough, but I feel string lights are for subtle lighting. I bought the combo with the 4 flood lights to use if more light is needed. There is an illumination scene in the app that is surprisingly bright compared to any other color setting. The mounting clips are odd and made installation a bit awkward. Instead of usual tabs with holes it utilizes a clip on the side, picture the clip on a sharpie cap. Only solution I came up with was to use saw tooth picture frame hangars for each lamp which worked ok. App is surprisingly nice with almost too many options, and have controlled lights a state away from home. (Make sure you get the right Govee app, the other one is a data miner). Still figuring out the automation as they occasionally default mid use to a diy setup that is not even programmed but I haven’t tried any troubleshooting or reset yet……… Update: Customer service through the app gave me a simple fix for the program issue. Not long after, the power supply failed. CS had me upload requested photos/video of the failure through the app to confirm. Said they would provide a replacement but give them time to ship. The new (entire) set showed up the next freakin day!!! No issues since, knock wood….4 months later. Still going strong. I noticed a lot of water failures in the other reviews. I did notice while installing some of the globes were loose. I reinstalled and tightened them all with Dow Corning 111 valve sealant. A non setting silicone grease for plumbing that is safe for plastics. Even though my lamps are under patio, rain don’t fall down in Kansas. I would recommend tightening globes at the very least and using a sealant on threads. And of course power supply and control must remain dry. I ran romex into a 4x4x4 junction box, installed plug end, and stuffed everything inside.

As with all Govee products, this was great. Set it up for Halloween and really set the vibe to our scary setup. However, it rained a few days later and I didn't think anything about it because the included literature says the lights a waterproof. Within a few days after the rain, only the first 4 lights in the string were operational. I opened bulb #5 and discovered corrosion all over the contacts... thinking I may be able to just bypass this bulb and Jerry rig something together, I inspected the remaining bulbs only to be disappointed when each one thereafter had water inside... corrosion and one had a blown capacitor (see photo). I really like the product, but if I had to do it over again, I'd probably silicone where the wires come in and around the body where the bulb cover unscrew. If it's not serviceable and govee recommends only replacing the unit, why does it unscrew anyways?

Updated review - After submitting the review below, Govee sent me a new set of lights. Definitely above and beyond as I was past the return period - thank you Govee! The new lights are working well, no issues so far but I did install them in an area outside where they will not be exposed to moisture. I didn't want to take any chances. As a result, I updated my rating and have also bought some additional lights from Govee as I think thier products really are good quality. I'm so disappointed with these lights. I have a different set of lights from Govee that I've been super happy with so I was really hopeful these would be good as well but my experience is quite the opposite. They were easy to set up, they have a lot of really cool features but since just last week, several of the bulbs have stopped turning on. In my view, when you're paying more than $30 for a set of lights, they should work longer than a month. Additionally, the lights say indoor or outdoor use and yet the power supply is not weather proof - what?!? I therefore had to have the lights plugged into an outlet in my house which really limited where they could be used so I really don't think you can call theae indoor/outdoor lights. Do better Govee!!!

The media could not be loaded. Changed our previously led string lights to these customizable one. These are supper fun! I am posting this review on the evening of 4th of July to show how customizable this thing is. It didn’t have a 4th of July them and I created this under 30 seconds on the DIY section on the app. I could almost love this string light, but it’s way too dim to use for lighting. It’s only good for parties and mood lighting. My outdoor camera used to show full color security feeds, but now that I replaced my old string lights with these, my cameras have been forced to be on night mode/vision and now shows black and white feeds. I never needed to wear my eyeglasses walking out back at night, but now I do. Debating hard whether I should return them or not. If I do keep them, at least I got them at a deal for $39.99 per 50ft (I got two). If I paid full for them, I would’ve definitely returned them without hesitation, and would’ve given them it a 2-3 star review Just to note, I also got the 100ft for $130 at a deal. But when I saw it’s just two sets with two 50ft connected together, I immediately returned it to get two 50ft for only $79.98.

I like the many color options, but the colors are too pastel. It has an option for WiFi and integrates with my Google home, but the sophisticated options are only available through Bluetooth. It also seems to "forget" the preprogrammed scene I set, but will go back when I get within Bluetooth range. For the price, it's a feature packed string of lights.

I am updating this review as Amazon helped connect me with Govee customer service and after submitting a claim and providing pictures of the product not functioning they are sending another light set. I still do not recommend these for outdoor use but can add them to my basement light set and still get good use out of them. These Govee outdoor patio lights quit working 1 week after the return period and there is water in the bulbs. I have the same set in the basement which is fantastic with not issues. Do not purchase for outdoor use.
