  • Powerful solid and smooth running scooter. Easy to assemble
Style: 25mile 500w 20mph
I like the power of this scooter and having a 500 watt motor is an advantage over the lower wattage ones. This scooter runs smooth and it feels good under my feet even on some slightly uneven and rough surfaces but I have not taken it off road and don't really fell like I need to do anyway.Feels and looks very well built. I am sure the more powerful models are good but I find this to be more than adequate. It was quite easy and simple to assemble I appreciate the slightly larger size of this scooter esp. compared to some others but still find it to be quick and nimble to ride. The tires have a substantial width which I believe adds to the stability and overall feel of this scooter. It has good acceleration but still easy to control making it for me very enjoyable to ride. It's very maneuverable and also gets to top speed quickly. The ride is pretty quiet so a real plus for me. It's also quite convenient to be able to put the handle down so I can carry it when I need to. Wasn't difficult to pick up and put in the trunk of my car when I need to. That way can I take this scooter along to use elsewhere having easy access and/or can store it when necessary. I rode it for quite some time and the battery seemed to hold up really well. With a 25 mile range should allow me to go any where I need to around town. The brake is good which I feel is important and allows me to feel confident with my safety.. Interestingly enough I spoke with some people I me out riding that sid they thought this scooter looks really nice. I like the idea of buying from a longstanding company with a good reputation. Overall this is a really nice scooter and I am having a lot of fun riding it besides it being so convenient to get around with little hassle. ... show more

  • Great so far (updated)
Style: 45mile 500w 20mph
Update 24 August 2022 After using the scooter for over 200 miles now, I can say it really is as good as my first impression in terms of features and comfort. However, a few of points for potential buyers to be aware of, with the main one being NO STOCK on replacement inner tubes, so at least 3 weeks and waiting for new stock to come in to the GoTrax warehouse. This is a real problem for people like me that totally rely on their scooter for day to day use. Anyway, please note the following for more details on my actual discoveries. 1. Real distance carrying me at around 205lbs/94kg at 15.5mph is 20-25 miles. At the top speed of 20mph then 15-20 miles or even less dependent on terrain such as slopes and inclines. It does handle fairly steep inclines better than advertised. The stated distance of 45 miles gives no real context on the required parameters to achieve this, such as weight of rider and average speed terrain. 2. Punctures, especially rear drive wheel are a major pain to fix. GoTrax support has been pretty good though. They sent me links to videos on how to take off the wheel and tire to get to the inner tube. No bicycle or auto repair shops would touch it, so I had to learn to do it on my own. I bought all the tools I needed here on Amazon including ready glued patches that stick extremely well. However… after inflating the inner tube and placing it is water, I found at least 6 holes that needed patching. No idea how I got six punctures because I only ride on road and foot path surfaces that seem to be pretty clear of puncture causing items such as broken glass and nails. I patched all holes as per patch instructions but one of the holes is across the inner tube seam and it continues to leak air. I went on the GoTrax website to order a new inner tube ($25+tax and shipping), but no stock. I called support and someone answered almost immediately after the usual automated guidance system messages. The person answering was very friendly but after double checking on stock, he told me they are not sure when new inner tube stock is coming in. He said it could be this Friday or next Friday or even the Friday after. He said to just keep checking the website after each Friday. Not his fault but I told him this is a real problem for me and it would have affected my decision to purchase, had I known this beforehand when looking to buy any scooter. Since I now have a $900 piece of, currently useless, junk in my apartment, dismantled and causing a headache, I have to make some decisions as to what to do once the scooter is repaired and working again. Keep or sell? One other thing is the state of the inside of the tire where the inner tube fits against. It is full of knobbly bits of rubber protrusions, as if the inner surface was not cleaned up after manufacturing. I do not know if these caused the multiple punctures or if it was a defective inner tube, but just due to the amount of random punctures at a wide range of various positions, my gut instinct it telling me is was probably a combination of cheap inner tube quality and poor tire inner surface quality. So now I do have regrets. I should have looked at the availability of parts, the availability of local repair stores, and the complexity of repairing by myself. As they say, buyer be aware. I hope this update helps others make the right choice, while continue to state that the scooter is great apart from when something goes wrong. —————- First impressions are excellent. Easy to unpack and assemble. Robust. Great built-in cable combination lock and digital lock. Feels great to ride and very stable. Lights at night are incredibly bright. Zippy and great acceleration. Oh, and I really like the way it folds with the catch on the handle bar stem locking onto the bracket on the rear mudguard. Makes it easy to carry. I’ve only done about 40 miles so far and tried it at both gear levels. I mostly use it at the max 15.5mph level because it feels more comfortable in terms of speed. However, I needed to pickup a prescription from a pharmacy 4 miles away and we have a creek bicycle trail parallel to the main road, so I cranked it up to 20mph and the ride was pretty much flawless most the way in cruise mode. So far very happy and glad I did my research before selecting this particular make and model. Dislikes are (a) it’s heavier than I first imagined. Too heavy for my lightweight wife to carry folded. It’s OK for short lifts and carrying, that’s all. And (b) battery life is not going to give me 45 miles at the weight of 205lbs/93kgs. Not sure of full distance yet but testing it over an 8 mile stretch of trail at mostly 20mph saw the battery level indicator drop to about half. Later though, when I turned it back on, the battery level then showed a much higher level. Bottom line is that I am very happy with product and it has been extremely useful. No regrets so far. ... show more

  • Gotrax made an issue right.
Style: 25mile 500w 20mph
Originally I purchased a G4, which seems like a quality scooter; however it had an issue, but Gotrax addressed the issue. I see a lot of G4 scooters around town (college town), so I probably just received a bad one. The G4 rode nicely. GoTrax upgraded me to an Eclipse model. The G4 model I originally ordered has solid wheels, which I recommend, because they are low/no maintenance. The Eclipse model has solid wheels, and is very much similar to the scooters you can rent in cities. I love the display on the Eclipse model; the dual drum brakes stop nicely, and the weight of the scooter makes it feel very planted to the ground. The G4 is nice, but I recommend spending a little extra money on the Eclipse model. If you want a scooter to ride recreationally or to the parking garage, I recommend the G4. If you want a scooter that's a daily driver, I recommend the Eclipse. I live downtown where it's easier to bike than drive, then I got tired of biking. A scooter is a great alternative to a car. My son wanted a scooter so I bought one for him, then realized I need one too. Insurance and parking would cost me over $200 per month, and that's before gas and maintenance. Scooters are a cost effective solution to a car where one isn't necessary, and with the money saved, I utilize ride share when the weather is inclement, and rent a car when I need one. The scooter will take 3 to 5 hours to charge depending on how much battery remains (it's best to run the battery down before charging it, but if it's at 1 bar and you need 2 or 3 bars, then obviously it'll need charged). The G4 has the power I would expect from a middle range scooter. The Eclipse has the power of a scooter a class above the G4. I like the weight of the G4 (about 38 pounds), whereas the Eclipse is about 45 pounds and I can feel the extra weight when I have to carry it. Both scooters feel heavy if you have to carry them far (I have to carry them up and down 3 steps every time I leave/arrive home). The scooters are a good value. I'm sort of tired of riding motorcycles, scooters are an activity my son and I can enjoy. Definitely invest in at least a helmet. Whether you ride a bike, scooter, or motorcycle, you should be wearing at least a helmet. I wiped out on a scooter recently, and a helmet probably saved my life (people get out of the shower and fall, so imagine falling at 10 miles per hour). Lots of fun, but understand cars are not expecting something to come flying off the sidewalk at 15 miles per hour, so understand how to ride responsibility. Areas heavy in pedestrian traffic require being being careful and respectful. I highly recommend GoTrax, and scooters are a cost effective solution to transportation, and better for the environment than cars. Get one and have fun, but wear at least a helmet (common sense). ... show more
