Edit 2/27/24: Although, my return window with Amazon had closed by the time this hoverboard was given for Christmas, it was still open with the manufacturer, so I contacted them for help. Gotrax Customer Service was very responsive and helpful. I filled out and submitted their claim form, and had my replacement board in 2-3 weeks. The new board appears to be working perfectly. We've had no random shutdowns and no problem getting it to charge and hold a charge. My experience with customer service was very positive and should I need or want to purchase another hoverboard, I will get another Gotrax board. -- ORIGINAL REVIEW: I bought this in October 2023 as a Christmas gift for my grandson. We fully charged the battery so it would be ready to use on Christmas morning. First problem (and the biggest problem), is that it will randomly shutdown while riding and throw the rider off. This happened four times in a 1 1/2 hour period and ultimately ended up with causing an ankle injury. Second, the board was only ridden in the hallways of the house during that 1 1/2 hour window and was not ridden continuously, but the battery died. I would have expected this if it had been ridden outside and non-stop. I believe the product that I received is defective, and unfortunately, because I shopped early, it is outside the return window for Amazon. I hope the manufacturer will be more concerned about the injury factor and be willing to exchange it. I'm quite sure it's not supposed to just randomly quit while riding.
