  • Great first impressions
Style: 14" 500W 25Miles Black
FINAL UPDATE 12/17/2024: All I have to say at this point, is if you take care of this scooter, it takes care of you. I learned how to get my hands dirty doing basic repairs, maintenance, etc. and this scooter keeps scooting on. The only thing I wish was better about this scooter is the battery. If the battery was longer lasting, this scooter would be an amazing competitor to commuter scooting. Also inclines really kill speed and eats up battery really fast. Personally I'm saving up for a fat tire e-bike with a better battery and faster speeds, hill climbing ability, etc. as I live in a place where fat tires thrive. Despite this scooter having a somewhat fat tire, it's not fat enough for the best traction. Hope my reviews and updates have informed you guys enough to decide whether or not this scooter is best for you. Flat tire/wiring experience update: It happens to the best of us. A small piece of glass penetrated my tire, into the inner tube and caused a flat. If there's one majorly bad thing with Gotrax, is a lack of footage covering basic repairs on a lot of their scooter models, so I had to learn how to take the rear wheel off myself to patch the inner tube. Taking the wheel off was a pretty straight forward process. Remove some screws, nuts, unplug power wire, etc. and the wheel comes off easily (you'll need an adjustable or socket wrench about 18mm, an Allen wrench set, and screw driver) . The tire however was a nightmare to take off as it was really tough. Fast forward after I patch the tube and assemble the wheel back, I try to ride but the power wire yanked and plugged out a yellow, green and blue cord inside the battery storage. This caused the wheels to stop responding, but the solution was to simply open the battery storage underneath the scooter, plug the colored cords into the matching slot, and viola the scooter is fixed. The whole experience was extremely frustrating because of the lack of resources to assist in basic repairs, but it is pretty simple once you know what you're doing. 2 month update: I ride this thing 8 miles total per day, 5 days a week. I’ve racked up approximately 320 miles total so far, and it’s still holding up well. The only recurring issue is the throttle. It seems while I’m riding in neighborhoods where I have to stop at stop signs often, the throttle will have an issue that slows down the scooter’s speed. This is typically an easy fix if you stop for a few seconds and restart the scooter. But to avoid this issue I’ve adapted my riding style in neighborhoods by switching from 20mph mode to 15, which seems to have mostly fixed the issue. Overall, after two months and hundreds of miles, I’d say this is a great buy for casual riding. Even on my bad days, it’s always fun riding on the scooter and even something to look forward to. Great casual scooter. Original review: Let me start off by saying that I’m 6’2 and about 250-260 pounds give or take. This scooter holds me up quite well, much better than I expected. My size only becomes an issue going up inclines. I can tolerate the speed drop off from light to moderate inclines, otherwise I just hop off and walk up until the roads are more leveled. On flat roads I can go up to 20 mph. Battery life seems to be doing great so far, but I’ve only ridden about 14 miles total so far. I’ll have to update later on as the battery ages, but it charges reasonably quick. The scooter performs smoothly, and quietly, just try to avoid pot holes and large cracks in the street. Also try to avoid any sharp objects that may be on the road. If anybody is wondering how it rides in the rain, well I can say it holds up much better than expected. The wheels keep their traction very well and I didn’t experience any slipping or sliding, but try to avoid if possible. I’d say so far, this scooter has exceeded my expectations for commuting to work. Eventually I’ll take it out for grocery trips when I get good locks. I’ve read that u-locks along with thick chain locks from kryptonite brand is the way to go. The more locks you put on this thing, the better. Get sensor alarms too. Get anything that deters and prevents theft. I’m personally gonna get a few different chains and u-locks, disc locks, etc. You can never be too safe. For only 500 smackers, this has shown to have great bang for your buck as far as commuting in a city goes. My destinations are never too far to worry about battery life. When I ride it to work, I bring it inside my post and top off the charge to prepare it for the next ride. Do not let the battery fully die, you’ll wanna charge it while it’s at least at one bar life left. One accessory I recommend getting is a bicycle turn signal, it feels sketch trying to hand-signal and only having one hand on the handlebars. Oh and the rear basket is a neat addition, although I do want something slightly bigger. Anyways, as far as my impressions currently stand I’d recommend this to anybody in a city. I was exclusively walking and bussing before I got this scooter, so it feels nice not having to get on my feet every day for a simple commute to work or the grocery store. ... show more

  • The Perfect Electric Scooter for me and my son
Style: 14" 350W 19Miles Black
I was very surprised when I received the scooter very quick shipment. Ordered this yesterday and received it today. It is great quality and very smooth to ride. I really love the electric scooter, the design is so cool! The speed and power are great, I’ve been using the electric scooter for a few weeks now, I will say that this scooter is not faster but it still runs pretty well and safe! And I get to my 2 year old boy in the front, and use it to take my boy to school on nicer days. He really enjoys the ride. One thing I like is the basket in the back. I put all the stuff in my backpack. If you’re looking for something simple and easy to ride, this one’s worth checking out. Very convenient scooter for moving around small areas short distances. High recommend! ... show more

  • Excellent performance and durable metal design
Style: 14" 350W 19Miles Black
I usually park my car at a free lot that’s about a 20-minute walk from my office building, and this scooter has seriously saved me so much time and energy. Instead of that long walk in the Texas heat, I just hop on my scooter and cruise to work in under 5 minutes. It handles my heavy work bag (MacBook Pro + iPad and all) without any issues—super stable and the rear basket holds everything securely. The seat is comfy, the ride is smooth even over sidewalk cracks, and it was super easy to set up right out of the box. The battery lasts me the whole week on a single charge, and it folds up nicely when I need to store it. Honestly, I didn’t expect to enjoy it this much, but now I look forward to using it every day—it’s made my commute way easier and even kinda fun. Overall, it worth the price! ... show more

  • Horrible company, scooter can barely make it up hills
Style: 14" 350W 19Miles Black
Update: Gotrax never sent me a replacement tire tube, despite telling me they did. After giving me the runaround for several weeks, they told me to purchase tire tubes size (and I am quoting them directly from the email) " 14"x2.5" ". They said they woud reimburse. Fine. I trusted that the information they gave me was accurate, however the tire tubes I got arrived today. They are not the right size. The size listed in this ad for the ASTRO is " 14"x2.125" "; the size they gave me is for a different model. I'm beyond frustrated at this point. I haven't been able to use my scooter since July 14th. It is now September 9th. I will have to re-order the right size and again ask them to reimburse me for the cost. Their customer service team is in China so it's not as if I can get this resolved in real time. ------------ Update: my rear tire went flat randomly and i could not pump it up. A month ago GoTrax customer support say they would send me 2 new replacement tires since they are a special kind. I have yet to receive the tires. They cannot give me a tracking number. For several days they keep telling me they’ll check the warehouse. I have mobility issues and can’t drive so this is my backup. I’ve been depressed and not having transportation is adding to all of my other problems making me $uicidal. I just want to replace my tire. They won’t give me a tracking number and have not just re-sent tires to me. I’m extremely angry Update: after charging the scooter all night, the battery only had 3 bars. Right now I don’t feel safe traveling longer than 5 miles unless I’ll be able to charge the battery at my destination. I contacted customer support because it seems to me that the battery is faulty and I would rather have a replacement then to be stranded somewhere in winter with a ~65 lb scooter that doesn’t work. I will update once this is resolved through customer service. I found this scooter while looking for an affordable electric scooter that was equipped with a basket. The package was delivered to the wrong apartment, and considering the box weighs quite a bit, it was a workout to pull it up a set of stairs and over to my apartment. Once I got it inside and opened the box, setup was fairly easy. The handlebars come disconnected but are easy to connect. The only things left to do were add the seat, basket, and then plug in the battery. I modified the scooter with a larger basket, rear-view mirror, and phone holder. I also got a Master Lock brand U-lock to use while out and about. The scooter comes with front and rear lights, and a little bell. The bell was in the way so I moved it to allow room for the mirror. The shocks can be adjusted depending on how much cushion you want. I didn’t adjust mine but I may loosen them a bit just to have a smoother ride. On my first ride I noticed that it accelerates nicely and fairly smoothly. The mechanism to go forward took a bit to getting used to, only because the scooters I rode previously were a bit different. I almost always ride at the max speed, and let off when going down hills. Higher speeds are possible while going down hill. On inclines the scooter slows a little bit, and even more if the incline is more than a 20 degree angle. Nonetheless, this was not an issue for me as I was not needing to go up steep inclines. I also weigh around 108 lbs, so I imagine someone weighing closer to the max limit of the scooter would have trouble. There is not a lot of “horse power” driving the motor so for people who want more speed and more power, I would recommend the 500W model rather than the 350W one that I bought. Another small thing I noticed is that - just after one ride, the grip tape is coming off in one of the corners. It’s not a huge deal, but as someone who used to skateboard - gripping her own boards - it’s not difficult to make sure the grip tape stays on properly. The grip tape itself is a little bit thin, so I might actually replace the grip tape myself. On my second right I noticed that on the way back from a ~3 mile round trip, the battery indication screen kept going from 3 bars to 2, interchanging between the two almost randomly. I charged the battery full overnight, and that issue did not happen the first day I rode it, and it had only charged for ~4 hours prior to that. I’m not sure if there is something wrong with my scooter, but I plan on seeing what the bars do when the battery drains lower. Another thing I noticed is that the breaks don’t function as well when roads are wet, so it’s something to be mindful for. This is true for bicycles as well so I was expecting that. I rode the scooter on a dry day and a wet day and it did fine both times. For the price, it is decent. The price dropped around $60 literally the day after I bought it, which meant the price for the 500W had dropped to the price I paid for this scooter, so I was feeling kind of bitter about that. I would have preferred the 500W, but the price point and shipping time for this one just worked out better for me. In the future if I were to buy another one, or replace this one, I would get one with more power for sure. ... show more
