    • Great, small, compact and simple to use action camera
I never had a GoPro before because of the over priced products and the complexity of them (packing a lot in a small camera). I got this deal with the Sd card, and head strap which came all inside the original sealed box. Get it from Amazon, not some third party seller. I love this camera because is compact and very simple to use. You don't really need the touch screen display, most important settings you can change it on the built-in display. If you need to make more changes you can do it via the app. It is true that the battery is small on the Session, but you can make it last enough by having the wifi and voice commands off. It does get warm with wifi on while communicating with the app. There is not need for having the wifi on all the time, just turn it on when you need to make some changes to the settings or verify the angle of the camera. Some first accesories I would recommend are: - The Handler (Floating Hand Grip) - Suction Cup - Lens screen protector (Tempered glass with water repelent) Get them all original GoPro. They are really well built and you can trust them for action use. Some issues/troubles I encounter so far: - There is some wind noise when recording, but this is not a profesional audio recording device. If you are looking for some cinema quality look somewhere else and expect to spend a lot more. - The app takes a lot longer to start up when there is not conection to the internet. This might be an issue if you travel to areas where there is no cellular signal. After some tries I managed to openned it. Other than those 2 problems the Session5 has worked perfectly. This camera is for recreational use. If you are planning to use for professional use I would suggest the Hero6 or some other high end portable camera. ... show more

I bought it for a DR vacation and it was used in the water, land, sailing, etc. Great video, very stable footage. It is a great camera. After vacation, I used it to film dirtbike riding and it is super great for that. Really a perfect camera.

This thing is awesome. Shoots amazing quality videos both on land and under water. Versatile, compact, and really light weight. It’s great that it’s waterproof without an extra case. Seems pretty sturdy. It’s taken a tumble and no issues. Only downside is the battery doesn’t last as long as I’d like. So you have to be cautious with video run times or bring a charger. Battery is not removable. GoPro uses usb C cable. Get an attachment kit for different mounting options. ... show more

    • Buy two, they are small!
These things are a must for any video kit, The size and weight make this camera able to be mounted in some of the most creative places. Even a rubber band will hold it in place if you are creative enough. The functions are easy and simple to understand and if you are a techie kind of person the app will fulfill your wildest dreams. you can set the cam and use the app to get the frame you want and record and stop from the app itself. The settings on the camera are of course only as good as the operator. Garbage in will equal garbage out so be aware of how you are tuning but if you not that sharp when it comes to basics just shoot in stock settings and you will get decent video. If you are looking for a really good video you can go protune in your settings and get the exact look you are going for. Most of everything I shoot these days is in the highest FPS possible, protune flat, sharp low and around 400iso and it will be able to get tweaked pretty hard in post with color correction to your liking. Honestly if you dont have a couple of these in your bag your really missing some great footage. ... show more

I purchased the Hero 5 Session as a second GoPro camera for our troop's High Adventure trip in Colorado, Utah, and Arizona. Excellent pictures of our whitewater rafting trip, hikes in the Grand Canyon, horse back riding at Monument Valley, and Bryce Canyon, and some other shots too. The only problem I had was using the voice commands. It would work for awhile and the not respond at all. The pictures from the whitewater rafting are stills from the videos and the other are native pictures from the Hero 5 Session. No color corrections made to the images. ... show more

    • Do not use head strap :(
The first time I used this with the head strap, it fell off (after tightening it and asking several other if it was secure enough) and lost in the water. I spent the rest of the day, of what was supposed to be a fun afternoon at the beach with the family, roaming the beach for hours in hopes it would turn up. I would give a 5 star as the camera itself is great, but the whole package was not. I don’t not recommend using the head strap :( ... show more

    • Bought two, image quality different from one to the next. Returned.
I'm unique in that I bought two of these, and while I was impressed with all the functionality (and great build quality) that was built into such a small package, I was ultimately disappointed because the two cameras performed so differently even when tediously set to the exact same settings and firmware. Frustrating as this was visible to the naked eye on an old laptop. Software could help it, but that's not why I bought a pair of these at the same time. Further symbolizing manufacturing inconsistencies that may not bother most people but should be noted, my pair of units drained/heated the battery differently when on the same settings too. One would drain the same OEM battery faster than the other, in test after test. Unfortunate that I had to return them both. Not sure if one was defective (how would I know which one?), or if image sensors and other components internally produce different images based on the manufacture date or location. Makes me concerned about another GoPro purchase because beyond future firmware updates (which most people aren't doing let's be real here), a user cannot fix the hardware problem that shouldn't exist at this price point. ... show more
