  • Good Value for Simple Tasks
Style: Two Thread Stitch Quick +
Out of the box, this machine felt a little toy-like - lighter than I expected, plasticky, and somewhat fragile. When I tested it on scrap fabric, the motor locking lever got stuck. I managed to force it loose. I was discouraged and thought of returning the whole thing, but instead I persisted with a small project. It actually worked out surprisingly well. The two thread system is easy to understand if you are familiar with larger machines. The lower bobbin threaded automatically. The on-off switch was relatively easy to control in hand-held mode, but a little awkward to reach in desktop mode. Nevertheless, I preferred using it on my desktop because it felt more stable. It sews at only one speed and it's quite fast. You have to be on the ball. The finished stitching was tight and strong. For me, it's certainly suitable for simple repairs, taking in slacks, or making a pillow case, providing the material isn't supper heavy. I would find its ergonomics challenging for larger projects. Battery life is fairly good. However, it would be disruptive to have the batteries die half way through a long stitch. You can get an optional power adaptor, but it costs about half the price of the machine itself. Overall, this is handy product for the price if you can accept its limitations. ... show more

  • Waste of money
Style: Two Thread Stitch Quick +
This does not sew. At all. I spent hours re-threading the WORST DESIGN EVER. Seriously, not even a channel to run the thread through, just a series of 6 holes. The longest I got was an inch and a half before the system jammed, and once I pulled the fabric out the entire threading fell off, held loosely in a single stitch hole that actually linked with the lower thread. Worst buy ever, this isn't worth the brand name that they put on it, let alone the plastic. This is worse than a child's toy sewing machine. Singer used to be top notch, such a shame to see this level of product from them. Edit: corrected spelling errors, added closing thought ... show more

  • The best handheld sewing machine in the market - Singer Stitch Quick Plus
Style: Two Thread Stitch Quick +
I was looking a handheld sewing machine to repair T-shirts and clothes quickly. I was really doubtful when I read those 1-star comments. It turns out that Singer stitch quick plus deserve 5 stars. It is absolutely easy to use and repair your clothes instantly. Fast and Simple at all! It is also handy to carry with you. The goal of this tiny machine is meant for clothes repair. If you want to create your own clothes or curtains, you will need full-size sewing machines. This tiny machine will go in single direction only. The re-threading of needle holes is so simple and it takes 1 second for me, bulls eye! (If you have used full-size sewing machine, it is so easy to re-thread. No difficulties) The needle hole of stitch quick plus is slightly smaller than the needle hole of full-size sewing machine. TIP: But you can use white candle or wax to rub over the thread and then it will go straight through the needle hole, very easy! I used it to repair my curtain and it works great(see photos). I would like to give 5 stars for it but I found that Amazon shipped it in a plastic bag without bubble bags for protection. The manual booklet has wrinkles already(see photos). One bobbin with black thread is half full than the other bobbin with white thread(see photo). There are extra holes remained in the scrap cloth for test. I suspect that it may be a returned product from other customers or someone else already tampered with it. So it deserves 4 stars finally. Hope this will help other customers. ... show more

  • Great little handheld sewing machine for smaller, simpler sewing tasks (for a good price)
Style: Two Thread Stitch Quick +
Too many small sewing jobs piling up around the house and we needed something to help out. Searched online and eventually found this Singer Stitch Quick. Battery operated, handheld, has an actual bobbin, and the online, well-made video instructions via YouTube was the final selling point. The included printed instructions are OK, decent quality, BUT the online training videos have been all the difference between defeat and victory for getting all the pants around here finally hemmed in a presentable way. We would recommend that you practice on some throw away materials before trying on your vintage pieces! It is a little finicky at first, but once you get the hand of it, it works good enough (for us). Is it a substitute for an expensive floor machine? Well, no, but we don't have room for that, nor do we need that apparently for what we are doing. Ours came with all the parts and has worked great on several small jobs, AND most importantly, didn't cost us an arm and a leg. ... show more

  • Good for basics seeing job
Style: Two Thread Stitch Quick +
I have a regular sewing machine but sometimes I am too lazy to set it all up, so I brought this to do quick projects. In a pinch it works but it is also a much more pain in the butt to use. The opening is maybe a quarter of an inch, so to slip something like a zipper through it is really challenging. And how the thread tension works, when you finish sewing and go to cut the thread, you have to pull it to the side cutter and because of the tension, you will either break the tread, or when you get it cut it will spring back and pop out of the eye hole. I’ve had to retread that thing a million times after each run. The only way to avoid it for me is to take the thread out of the spring thing, pull it up and leave 4 inches of thread and cut with scissors. And the reason you go through these extra steps is because the machine is so rigid and small, you need a threader thing to get the thread back in the eyehole. Because of the angles, it’s not like a regular sewing machine where I just use my eyes and fingers and run it back through, this thing is nearly impossible without a little threader device. It is handy for something like sewing a buckle strap back on a bbq pit cover by walking to the pit and sewing it on there on site vs removing the cover and taking it inside and setting up the big machine. ... show more

  • Singer doesn't disappoint!
Style: Two Thread Stitch Quick +
I've sewn on a few machines over my lifetime, including Singer, Sears, and Bernina, so I have a bit of experience, but I'm not a seamstress. Due to arthritic hands, I can no longer sew or lift the heavier machines but still needed something to do mending. I thought I'd give this handheld/desktop machine a try. I was thrilled. I watched the 4 videos online and they were sufficient to help me with the technical details. The straight stitch (all I ever need) was even and the tension perfect. The Stitch Quick is made with solid plastic and metal material and feels quite sturdy for such a compact machine. It certainly is portable (high on my list of why I chose it) and my leftover thread spools and bobbins (from my Bernina) are compatible with it as well. I'm very happy with this well-made product and highly recommend it for anyone, possibly a beginning sewer as well. Just watch the videos (I do much better with "show and tell" than reading), and I hope that you enjoy it as well. ... show more

  • Worked for about 5 minutes..
Style: Two Thread Stitch Quick +
I watched all the videos and learned how to use this product. It worked for two passes on my fabric. On the third side it jammed and would not trun off. I had to remove the batteries to turn it off. There was a faint burning smell from the product. I want to return this but it is too late according to Amazon. Do not buy this! ... show more

  • Good handheld sewing machine
Style: Two Thread Stitch Quick +
This is a good handheld sewing machine. I used it to fix the seam on my comforter and it did a great job. I have a suggestion. Put a LED light above the needle to see what is being sewn better.
