  • Old dude gets his first sewing machine
Style: Two Thread Sitch Quick +
Purchased this for a hobby that isn't clothing. Over the years I would simply hand stitch stuff as necessary. But, being an uber gadget-guy, I finally asked myself why I was spending and hour hand stitching when a machine would do it in a minute. This handheld Singer Stitch Quick+ is an awesome gadget. Out of the box it was fully assembled, threaded and apparently tuned. There was scrap piece of cloth still inserted in the foot which suggests that it was tested before shipping. My first try at machine stitching was successful but clearly the work of an amateur. A couple more practice runs and I was starting to impress myself. Nevertheless, while the included instructions are comprehensive, I found the wording difficult to easily understand. There are some good instructional videos available online and they were quite helpful when in comes to threading, spooling, how to use the accessories etc. Accessories included attachments for bobbin winder and spool extender, a threader, extra needles and two extra bobbins (white and black thread). I like this little machine and while I don't need to stitch all that often, my chore will definitely be more easily and quickly accomplished. ... show more

  • Passed the initial test very nicely.

The first job for this new little guy was to add additional fabric around 3 sides of a california king sized blanket while it was on the bed. It did it and did a great job. I had a bit of a learning curve, but overall, this machine should turn out to be a very useful tool around the house. I encountered a couple glitches. It's not clear if it was the machine or operator error, but they were easy to resolve. A couple of times the machine stopped on me for no apparent reason, but I was able to get it back on track. Also, there were a couple of times when the thread unexpectedly broke. I was able to get back up and running once I paid particular attention to the proper threading of the machine. It's a choppy little operator, but the stitches are smooth, even, and secure. I look forward to more projects and becoming more comfortable with it. Good purchase. ... show more

  • Not a good product

It worked perfectly the first time I used it. Now I cannot get it to stitch properly. I have watched several tutorials, rethreaded the Machne no less than 5 times with a step by step video including proper placement of the bobbin. Adjusted the tension per direction and it still won't sew correctly. Top stitch in perfect bottom stitch either comes straight or too much binding thread. I have sewed for decades and have never had this problem I realize this is a cheap sewing machine for small mending. I was trying to do a simple hem on a cotton pant leg. Would not recommend to anyone sorry to say. I gave always ha singer sewing machines but the quality on this little one is lacking. ... show more

  • Well worth the money
Style: Two Thread Sitch Quick +
Brings back fond memories of my Mom’s Singer machine. Much of the technology has been the same for well over 100 years! Winding the bobbins, threading the lower and upper threads through the holes, and then getting it passed through the needle is just delightful. So far-- after a few hours of sewing the test strip, re-threading the machine, and then finally repairing a torn bath towel-- we are happy with this machine. We now know how to re-load an empty bobbin [again memory of Mom's Singer]. The machine is also educational: any child, or adult, who learns to appreciate the mechanics of a sewing machine will have a joy that most other purchases will not provide. Not sure we will be quilting, or creating new shirts for me. But this is the most fun we've ever had from ANY Amazon purchase. ... show more

  • Quick fixes only
Style: Two Thread Sitch Quick +
Bought this little sewing machine to take in the camper with us, it is exactly what it says it is - a quick fix machine. When I pulled it out of the box I had to re set the bobbin holder by prying it around until it was seated Needle was getting jarred by the plastic bobbin holder. I tried using it to sew a couple of feet (straight) on a piece of material but the thread kept breaking and I would have to re thread it. Very very difficult to thread. On ‘desk’ mode when you set it down and push the trigger it stitches until you push the trigger again. The machine can not handle this, it immediately breaks the thread. If you use it on hand held mode and go nice and slow it will stitch longer. Suggest using plastic bobbins (that I already had) in place of the metal ones they give you, mediates all the breakage some. I tightened the needle inside of its holder but it still tends to spin around in there. Reset it and tighten it back down again, probably also contributes to the threat breakage. Again, good for a quick fix, not a project machine which is what it is labeled and priced as. Perfect for a hole in the sleeve or a quick hem fix. Just make sure you have a case full of different colored bobbins to store with it for whatever quick fix you need. ... show more

  • Not happy
Style: Two Thread Sitch Quick + & Bundle
I had hopes. After all, its Singer. But no. It worked okay for the first hour...then the nightmare started. First, the thread tensioner is garbage. Even all the way loose, it holds the thread too tight! On top of that, the included thread is also total garbage, I have spent more time (AND THREAD!) having to rethread the machine because the thread broke (and that's without even using the useless tensioner! While stiching, the poor thing chokes and skips frequently for no reason that I can see. Also, when trying to begin stiching, the motor isn't strong enough to get things moving. I have to pull up on the presser foot for a moment to get the machine to start moving. All these issues are while using the recommended ac adapter...(I dont dare trying to use batteries after all this!) This is my second machine, because the first had to be returned because it wouldn't work at all! I am so unhappy that I wasted my money on this. ... show more
