The GoPro Hero13 has good color science for daylight photography. I cannot compare it with its action cam competitors as I do not own the others. However, we bought the Hero13 on a recent trip along with our Olympus E-M1 Mk3 and Nikon D4s and some top-grade DS:R lenses. The Hero13 was the camera we used the most on that trip. It is tiny but feels like a brick. The battery performance is excellent. We had 4 batteries and never usde the other 3 batteries. 1 battery more than sufficient for a 12-hour day. Its performance in near darkness is commendable, and it is much better than from what I read in media. The attached photo of the moon and the city wall was at 3000 iso,1/60, f2.5. We are using the Hero13 to take mostly photos and we also installed the GoPro labs beta program for added functionalities. ... show more

Camera is awesome! Super ez set up and use. Only downside is side for me is, since the wide comes with 2 lenses, it would be nice if they included a set of rubber covers for the second lens. Cover for the wide doesn’t fit the normal angle lens.

The media could not be loaded. Amazing quality, I will mention It does NOT come with an SD card so be mindful of that. The footage is unreal for the price. I bought it on sale for roughly $375. If your trying to get into recording, photography, YouTube, or just everyday vlogging this camera is definitely what you need. This is my first action cam. I could not resist the Amazon deal. I have been looking for an action cam for a little while, mostly for recording certain drives in my truck and on my mountain bike. I am sure that everything that could be said has already been said. I will just say that I am enjoying the feature set on the Hero 13, without the benefit of having experience with any other action cam. The video quality is excellent, with great vibration stability and horizon hold functions. The touch screen and menu system are OK (some learning curves for settings and finding functions), and it seems very solid in the hand and mounted on a bike. [While it does not come with much more than an adhesive mount, there are lots of options for mounting almost anywhere -- I purchased ball mounts for my bike and for an accessory platform on my truck dash]. I appreciate the voice command functions for ease of use and functionality. I have not spent much time with the app, so I will leave any comments about that to the future. Pros: 1. Video quality is good and image stabilisation works well. 2. Backwards compatible with mounts from prior generations. Cons: 1. Poor battery life. It lasts about an hour, depending on settings. You can connect it to an external battery pack, but the battery compartment door has to be open in order to be plugged in. Not ideal when you’re filming on the go. 2. The microSD card slot is adjacent to the battery so I have to remove the battery in order to remove or insert the memory card. 3. The connection between the camera and the GoPro Quik app is terrible. The app always fails to connect to the camera when turned on, even though I can check the Bluetooth settings on my phone and it’s connected there. The app always makes me restart the camera, then it will usually connect on the second try, although sometimes I’ve had to restart it 3 or 4 times before the app finally recognises the camera. Both my phone app and the camera have the latest updates. It’s inexcusable that a camera that is this expensive from a company that has been around for this long thinks that such a garbage interface is acceptable. Would you be happy with a camera that can take up to 5 minutes of fiddling with before you can start using it? In conclusion, I bought this camera for a very specific application because GoPro is the only compatible camera for the application that I have. If there was any other option, I would return this immediately. The image quality and stability are good, but not better than competitors. The price is more than others. GoPro makes a poorly designed, buggy product. Don’t bother buying it. ... show more
