Description

The Nest Thermostat E is a smart thermostat that turns itself down when you’re away. It helps you save energy and keep your home comfortable. You can control it from anywhere with the Nest app, and it works with Alexa and Google Assistant so you can adjust the temperature with your voice. Nest Temperature Sensor communicates the temperature to the Nest Thermostat E. You can put different Nest sensors in different rooms, then use the Nest app to choose the exact temperature you want the room to be, along with a time of day. And it’s simple to install yourself – just hang it on the wall or place it on a shelf. [1] Remote control and mobile notifications require working internet and Wi- Fi. [2] Energy savings are not guaranteed and depend on energy usage, weather, and other factors. [3] Independent studies showed that Nest thermostats saved people an average of 10% to 12% on heating and 15% on cooling. Based on typical energy costs, we’ve estimated average savings of $131 to $145 a year. Individual savings are not guaranteed.

  • Llack of Information
The only issue I have is lack of information for installation but since that is pretty important it is extremely stupid that it isn't there. It is east to install both on the wall an the app but if you snap it onto the base it may not turn on which leads you down the obvious, which is, checking wires, reinstalling the old thermostat that JUST worked to make sure power is good, checking the breaker, checking the wires blah blah blah. Only when you throw your hands up and search online will you find Reddit posts about needing to charge the gd thing first before it will turn on. This is a pretty significant drop of the ball from Google. ... show more

  • Best smart thermostat I've ever used.
It's a crying shame that this thermostat was discontinued; it is still to this day the best thermostat I have ever used; I tried the "new" "nest" thermostat and it is a pathetic, terrible piece of hardware by comparison, ultimately ended up re-purchasing this one as well as one temperature sensor for the "hot room" of the house and it works exactly as I need it to! If you can get one of these before they are all gone, GET IT! here's my basic rundown of this compared to the "newer" model that Google released: Nest Thermostat E: Works with extra temperature sensors so you can have it adjust the temperature to get a warmer or colder room to the right temperature, rather than relying on only the temperature that exists wherever the thermostat is in your home. Has actual physical "button" press on the front and moving ring to adjust temperature with, very user-friendly and works the way people would expect it to Works with the NEST APP allowing setting individual heat/cold settings for any time of any day without having to do any extra steps Has a nice "frosted" look which matches nicely with white or matt painted walls -------------------------- The new Google "Nest" thermostat: Does NOT work with any extra temperature sensors Only has a stupid "touch sensor" on the side which is really awkward considering that it has a circular shape which the physical moving ring and front button-press worked perfectly with... people will go up to this sensor and tap on the screen or try to twist it and not understand why it isn't working; most counter-intuitive design ever. Does NOT work with the nest app, and forces you to first create a "temperature preference" with a set heat / cold temperature, and then assign that "temperature preference" on schedules... oh and the scheduled temperature changes can't be less than 1 hour apart from each other. Has a REALLY annoying FULL-ON MIRROR on the front of it, which looks hideous, glares light, doesn't match with anything, and really just adds to the paranoia that there is probably a camera behind it recording everything you do and sending it back to Google. ... show more

  • Not that smart....!
Nest default is 1 degree and won't let user change temperature swing cycle! Screen reading will disappear and you will have to keep moving in order for the Main screen to appeared. T9 won't let you change temperature swing cycle neither, it defaults to .5 degree; heat was on 5 minute and off 5 minutes when the outside was 52 degrees, it just too short of cycle, caused the system runs all the time and waste the energy! ecobee is the way to go as it allows lots of user settings. I like to set heat for 1 degree cycle; AC for .5-degree cycle. None of these 3 brands allow Fan schedule for longer than an hour! All of them let user to set Fan on minutes for every hour, but what if user like to run the fan 10 min in every 2 hours? So I suggest it should have a Fan Advance option: Begin Time, End Time, Minute ON, Minute OFF; this way I set it on throughout the entire summer, from 10pm to 7am; Fan only On 20 minutes in every 180 minutes Off. In addition, in Sleep period, allow user to set Fan Custom option, which I'll set it to run Fan only 10 minutes in an Hour, and it runs this schedule on in Sleep mode. In the Hot summer, this setting will very helpful, it will make upstairs cooler without using much AC. The reason is downstairs at least 3 degree cooler than upstairs even with AC on. So by making Fan running from time to time, it will circulating the air between 2 floors; and also getting the outside fresh (cooler) air into the system (my house has a fresh air vent). This way the upstairs will lower at least 1 to 2 degrees with just Fan on once awhile throughout the night, which achieves the comfort level without using much AC and save energy. ... show more

  • If you want no control over your temperature, get this!
This is the almost annoying thermostat ever. It will be going back. I just wanted a thermostat that I could set the temperature to what I want. I needed one in my new house because the thermostat was downstairs and it would get like an inferno upstairs if you set the temp higher than 66. But it depended on multiple factors so I wanted to be able to control it. This thermostat does what it wants. I can’t get it to change it to my settings without it overriding it. On the setup there is no option for just manual temperature setting. You have to have a schedule. That auto schedule, even if turned off will override your settings. I deleted all the schedule after turning it off didn’t work and then it just repopulated it with my settings. The gas cost keeps going up. So the repopulated schedule kept turning the heat on so the upstairs would get to 80. I then brought all the temps down hoping it wouldn’t turn it on and I could turn it on when we wanted to. But then I woke up to a freezing house because it overrode what I set it to. I’ve been battling it for days and tried everything others suggested. Others on the community of the app also complained that they couldn’t set the thing and leave it without it overriding it. So I guess I will be returning it after I pay another cost to have my handyman uninstall it. Find something else. Also, it requires a c wire? If you know what that is. We didn’t have it so the battery wouldn’t charge. I had to pull it off and charge it with one of my plugs I use to charge a power pack I have. Then it would let me see the key to setup the app. Very annoying little robot that get his own way. ... show more
