We haven't tested the AC yet but it heats our addition quickly, quietly, and efficiently! First couple of days it was in use, we had lows of about 20 degrees and it performed great. I would say this is moderate to slightly high skill set on the DIY scale. A friend with HVAC experience helped me and I didn't have half the tools that he used... Copper bender, cutter, wall fishing tool for the wire etc. and a vacuum to evacuate the line to ensure long-term use. FANTASTIC! Installed 2 of these by myself with no AC experience. What I do have is tools and knowledge and Youtube. I purchased 200 worth of ac install equipment plus the wiring, conduit, line set covers, and breakers to complete the install. I love how this heat pump produces heat at 18 Degrees. I just installed it in my 800 sf garage to apartment conversion. I had a company install it for a reasonable fee. I did the electrical. It's currently heating the space before I drywall it. I have 2 more different sizes here to install in 2 other spaces that currently have baseboard heat. I generally only use Goodman products because I have had all my jobs use goodman for the last 20 years. That includes over 200 homes. I cannot believe how quiet the unit is on the inside and outside. I have always been a fan of Goodman products for their simplicity and ease of getting parts quickly. With a really good warranty they honor 100% of the time my experiences. So was a no brainer to get this equipment at a really good price and I’m not a fan of the ones with the R23 refrigerant. I had a few tech questions they quickly responded and set me another line set longer then the one included in the package was to short. FedEx’d me a new one out the very next day offered to return the 16ft included beings I didn’t need it they told me to keep it for future projects. Post pics later but nothing but good things to say about this seller and my confidence in them. As an HVAC tech I truly appreciate that some other brands company’s are not so nice unless you are a super star for them or s all I’m going to say. ... show more

    • DO NOT buy unless you are a licensed Daiken Technician!

Although the actual installation is not very hard, This is NOT a DIY product and the vendor and manufactured will NOT stand behind it if you DIY. This is a Daiken product and their tech support will not even talk to you as a consumer, you need to have a license number to talk to the tech support team and open a case. I had issues with mine from day 1 and although I did have a licensed installer install my unit, they took a different job and were unable to continue with tech support. I had to the hire another company that was licensed in my area to continue troubleshooting. That company's technician said despite being licensed Daiken installers they don't recommend Daiken - they have too many issues with them. They sat on hold with Daiken tech support waiting for Daiken to be available for 3 hours, all at a cost of $120/hr plus trip charge to me and they said a 3 hour wait is pretty normal. After troubleshooting with Daiken they replaced the inside and outside control boards under warranty (which tooks weeks to get in from the factory). It did not help so I had to pay them again to sit on hold for hours with Daiken and Daiken said the control cable that was sent with the unit is undersized and needs to be a heavier gauge. They do not consider this a warranty item so Daiken will not cover it under warranty and say I need to purchase a replacement. They also want to blame incoming power to the unit as an issue but a licensed master electrician checked it and said the power is fine. Daiken then sent another set of control boards for the inside unit as well as a blower motor. They said the blower motor was shorting out killing the control board and that this was a common issue with these units. They sent new control boards and a new motor and it turns out that did not fix the issue either. At this point I have a unit that does not work right that I have spent hundreds of $$ to have a licensed tech work on it and there's no way I'm going to continueing paying a technician hundreds of $$ to just sit on hold while they wait for Daiken to be available on each tech call and it is clear that neither Daiken nor the local install techs actually know how to fix the unit. I contacted the seller who said they are unable to refund the unit either so I can't emphasize strongly enough DO NOT buy a Daiken unit unless you yourself are an authorized technician and have the spare time to deal with tech support when the unit breaks. As far as the unit itself, it looks fine and does actually heat and cool as desired, it just can't figure out when to turn off. If you set it to cool until it is 70 and walk away for a few hours, when you come back it will be in the 50s in the room and still cooling. Similar story when trying to heat a room. It is nice and quiet in quiet mode and isn't terribly loud when in powerful mode. ... show more

I've had a Goodman regular hole home AC/heat and love it. This one has been in use for two weeks and so far so good. Temp today was 10 degrees this morning and the room stayed stable at the temp I set it on.
