A Nice Solid Little Safe For It's Price Range!

I am a Gunsmith and prior to starting my own shop I used to work in a very large gun store that was also a large safe dealer. I have seen and worked with many safes of all sizes and I can definitely say that for it's price range, I repeat... for it's price range this is a pretty nice little safe. It has features that are usually not seen until you step up at least $100-$150. It is important to understand that this is meant to be mainly a beefed up lock box and strong deterrent. It's not a double walled, pry proof, fire proof type of safe. one of those at this size will start around $500 and go up. It of course has all the standard features you would expect like a nice finish, digital pin code lock, 2 backup keys, a shelf, and a little soft liner for the bottom. The main body is made of 14ga - 16ga steel and the door is a fairly impressive 8ga. The door doesn't have any real steps to prevent prying, but it is deep set which does deter and make prying harder to do. The 2 stand out features that usually don't come at this price range are first that it has 2 locking bars instead of one. Most cheaper small safes will only have 1 small centered locking bar or no bar at all and only a stamped metal tab as a lock. This one has two 3/4 inch locking bolts in the door. The second standout feature is that the door frame that those bolts lock behind is actually reinforced. It has an additional piece of 14ga steel welded inside of the left section of the door frame. The rest of the door frame is not reinforced, but the most important section is. Also one important thing to keep in mind is that for this safe to be fully effective you have to bolt it down from the inside. It has 4 holes each in the bottom and the back, and comes with the necessary hardware to do so. If not the bad guy will just pick it up and take it home with him where he can spend the time needed to cut it open. Overall for it's price range, as long as you understand it's limitations, and if installed correctly this is a really decent well built safe. It would be perfectly fine for things like important documents, small shootin irons like pistols, ammo, jewelry, etc. I personally have no worries about using it myself and I see no reason that I wouldn't recommend it. Also on a side note if you have DIY and welding abilities this would be a great little cheap base to build off of and make your own double walled, insulated, fire proof, and pry proof safe. Just throwing that out there.

I was looking for a safe because I have a few valuables, some coins and bars made of precious metal and this safe really came in handy. Outside of the ample space and storage capacity, you will find that the safe is not low quality or flimsy in the slightest. This is a serious safe, with a removable shelf for adaptability, you can also screw it into a position with the included screws. The safe comes with 2 keys and can also be opened electronically via the keypad after installing batteries and setting a pin. Get it, you wont regret it.

This small safe has plenty of room for a hand sized personal protection device, with lots of room to spare. There is even room for ammo. It is easy to access in the event of an emergency. Mounting was fairly simple. We mounted it to the top of a dresser. Can't carry it away easily with a dresser attached.

Probably not fire proof or water proof

It doesn't really claim to be water or fire proof, but one would think...well I would think it should be if it is a safe. It is small which is perfect for documents and a few small items. It has holes in the back for mounting so that is why I think it is not fire or water proof. It can also be attached to the floor. For my use it works fine and if you need a safe place to store stuff then this might be the perfect solution for you. I like that it is easy to program you code but you also have 2 keys to open it so I don't have to worry about forgetting to tell her the code of I change it. It is not a 1000 dollar safe so don't expect it to act like one, but for the price it is a great little safe. I recommend.

Nice, small safe

I didn’t need a huge safe for what I own, but I didn’t want to have a smaller safe to put some of my valuables in it. What’s nice about the safe is that you there is a shelf that you actually can drill this into the floor or into another shelf, so that it cannot be easily carried away. And the only way that you can get to that shelf is if you can open up the safe. It’s fairly lightweight which is fine by me because it’s drilled into the floor and it holds what it needs to hold. It was fairly easy for me to install this.

Compare to a hotel safe

The GOLDENKEY Cabinet Safe Box is a great entry-level safe. It's pretty much what you'd find in a hotel room. In this case, you start by opening it with the provided keys. Note that these keys don't look very unique. I think if someone were able to take this safe out of your house (and they can easily if you don't mount it), there is probably a key out there that would match the lock. Any professional thief would already have one. Once open, you have to insert your own batteries - it didn't come with batteries. But then it's easy to press the reset button and add your 3-8 character user code. I am comfortable with the construction of this safe, and it certainly would make someone work hard to get to your valuables. I have yet to mount mine, so as mentioned, this is light enough where if someone had the time to burglarize your house, they could take this with them and probably be able to get into it with a bit of work/tools/etc. But I will hide it and mount it with what appears to be pretty sturdy hardware that came with it. And I'll feel comfortable that it would deter a typical break-and-enter criminal if mounted properly.

Great Safe!!

Excellent safe!! It is super easy to change the passcode from the standard. Instructions are easy to understand. My favorite part of this is the lighted lock wheel. This safe is super durable, and has keys for a back up if you forget your passcode or the batteries die.

The safe box is lighter than I expected, but it works excellently and is easy to open and close securely. I am not sure how fireproof it is, but I am satisfied with it for the value it costs. It looks pretty sturdy with the deadbolt screws and makes me feel safe about storing my passport, cash, and other valuables in my little safe storage room at home.
