  • Love this compact HSS flash!
Model: V480-O
If I could, I would give this flash a 4.5 out of 5 stars. It may not be as powerful as the Godox V1 pro but it does have enough power and punch to cover small events. I bought 2 V480-O for my Lumix G9-ii. I love the battery life and the fact that you can charge it directly with USB-c. I used this flash to cover a 4 hour event and more than 700 shots and the battery still had a bar left. I was not shooting in full power @ +3.0. It has a modeling light as well that helps focus in low light conditions. The touch screen controls are great and easy to access. Works great with modifiers as well. I use this flash both on and off camera without a problem with the wireless transmitter such as Godox X3-O. For any high speed movements, “on-camera” synchs slightly better. The refresh cycle time may not be perfect especially at max power for back to back continuous shots. Otherwise this flash is just awesome in most use cases. ... show more

  • Versatile well-priced TTL flash with long battery life
Model: V480-F
I bought this flash for photographing graduation pictures... Lighting was challenging as the clouds were out and sun was mostly nonexistent. Graduate had long black hair and black cap and gown, with pale skin... so the I used it as a fill flash for almost every shot, and the battery still had plenty of life after about 7 hours of shooting. The fill flash provided much needed fill on his face and detail in the blacks. Definitely impressed with the TTL capabilities, and it was well worth the price. ... show more

  • Excellent Flash And amazing controls
Model: V480-O
Excellent flash - highly recommended. Renders flash units from a few years back as very dated.

  • Yet another amazing flash in the Godox string of products. Yet another amazing flash in the Godox string of products.
Model: V480-S
I’ve been using this Godox V480S on my Sony and off camera setups and honestly it’s been great. Super easy to use once you get familiar with it, and the touchscreen makes adjusting settings really quick compared to older flashes. TTL works well and exposures have been pretty spot on. I would DEFINITELY recommend getting used to the ins and outs of the flash before taking it to a serious gig. I found myself a few times trying to find the manual to change a setting rather than just getting comfortable with it first. The recycle time is fast and the battery life is impressive. I’ve gone through multiple sessions without worrying about it dying, and USB-C charging is a huge plus. Build quality feels solid too, not cheap at all. The battery needs to be plugged in directly, but I wish charging would work whether you plugged the unit in or the battery alone. I also like how versatile it is. The bounce head, built-in wireless, and modeling light make it useful for everything from casual shooting to more serious setups. Another note: update the flash's firmware so that you have the newer lock settings. Sometimes you can hit the power adjustment with you're palm or finger and not realize it. With the new setting you can add a more versatile screen lock. Overall, really solid flash for the price and hard to beat in this range. ... show more

  • Solid flash for the money
Model: V480-S
Been using this on my A7IV, and the recycle keeps up well, even on full power bursts. The touchscreen is nice, fairly intuitive, good visibility even in bright outdoor conditions. Built in trigger is a huge win for this model. The build quality is really nice as well, it does not feel cheap in any way. Battery life is excellent, and I like that they've switched to a rechargeable that charges via USB-C. ... show more

  • Perfect for non photographer/hobbyist
Model: V480-S
This thing is almost half the size of other flashes with minimal reduction in power. Don't get me wrong, a pricier flash will have more power/speed and have a slight but narrow window for filling in shadows during daylight, but this won't...but it doesn't matter. For casual use, it's great. More importantly the small size allows a videographer using DSLRs to pack this in their bag full time just in case. A pro photographer may want more power, but it's awesome if you do video, with occasional photo on the side, that you can just store this with minimal footprint. Menus navigating are easy, but takes some adjustment coming over from the V1. Luckily it's easier to navigate and less annoying than the X3's menus vs. the X2s for flash triggers at least. Apparently the sony version can do global shutter natively...yay. Also if you want a beefier flash, this is still advantageous as the size means you can overhead this as a rim light or sky light with less worry about it being too heavy for a clamp or needing a sandbag. ... show more

  • A Versatile Strobe from Godox
Model: V480-S
I ordered this Godox V480-S TTL Li-ion Flash for Sony - GN50 Built-in Wireless Trigger, 2.0" Touchscreen, HSS 1/8000s, 650 Full-Power Flashes, 1.7s Recycle, LED Modeling Lamp for Portrait Product Photography (V480-S) to use with my Sony 6700. My Sony doesn't get much use these days as I've transitioned to the GFX system. I do take the Sony on vacations when 1) the GFX is too heavy to walk around all day with, and 2) photography is not the main point of the trip. I've tried smaller flashes and they just don't have the power I need, so I decided to give this V-480 a try. While this flash can't be described as compact, it is still relatively small given the guide number of 50. A GN of 50 is plenty of light for most situations, including as a fill-in flash in full sun. The V-480 is particularly good as a vacation flash because it does not require batteries; the internal battery charges easily with any USB-C power source. I got over 200 full or close-to-full flashes without coming close to exhausing the battery. Kudos to Godox for choosing to use a removable battery for the V-480 instead of a non-replaceable internal battery. The V-480 comes with some a foot to allow it to be set into a surface and a diffuse that does a good job at controlling shadows. I found exposures to be spot on when using the flash in TTL mode. The HSS also works as it should. Having HSS means that you can use your camera in full sun without needing to worry about your shutter speed. Flash Exposure Compensation of +/- 3 EV allows for any adjustment you might need if your camera meter does not interface well with the TTL function. I am not generally a fan of touchscreen controls as I often find them to be finicky and not all that accurate. The touchscreen on the V-480 works quite well. For those who hate touch screens as much as I do, all of the functions can be set with dials/buttons as an alternative to the touchscreen. For those who like touchscreens, this one is bright enough to read in all but the strongest sunlight. Overall, this appears to be another well-built flash from Godox. As is common to other Godox products, it is a virtual clone of flash units that are priced significantly higher. ... show more
