Description

Vats bypass module is intended for use when installing a GM engine equipped with the PASSkey I or II VATS (Vehicle Anti Theft System) into a vehicle missing the BCM (Body Control Module), or for remote start system. The VATS bypass module generates the ‘key ok’ signal normally sent from the BCM to the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) or ECM (Engine Control Module). VATS bypass module wires: RED: 12V ignition of accessories WHITE: Fuel Enable wire. 50hz or 30hz. BLUE/GREEN: Control wire. If none of the wires connected to the ground then the output is 50 Hz suitable for most of the cars. Some cars (90-93) require 30 Hz. In that case connect the Blue wire to the Ground. BLACK: Ground. • Works - Easy - Affordable Solution - Car Started Right Up!
I spent countless hours trying to get my car to start and run again. It's been down for several months due to VATS problems. I tried a much more expensive bypass module first and spent hours and hours trying to install under the dash only to determine I had to install using the alternate method of installing under the hood at the PCM/ECM. After getting properly connected the first device did nothing. I spent 3 weeks going back and forth with their tech person without resolution. This caused me to search for something else and I found this module on Amazon. It was 1/10 the price of the first module I tried. I figured I had nothing to lose. It came quickly, and installed in 5-10 minutes. And...my car started right up with no problems. I can't imagine a better solution. ... show more

  • Easy to install - 1995 Firebird Formula LT1
Easy to install. My son and I are planning an LT1/T56 Swap from a 1995 Firebird Formulas into a 1986 Camaro IROC. Before pulling the drivetrain out of the Firebird, I wanted to eliminate the VATS system so we could use the 1986 Steering Column and Ignition Switch (non VATS car). Did my research and decided to try this device. Using the Factory Service Manual, we located the VATS theft deterrent device under the dash and reviewed the schematic. This VATS module has five wires but for the 1995 Fbird, you only use three: Red on module goes to Pink on the connector (Switched power), Black on Module goes to Black on Connector (Ground) White on Module goes to Blue on the Connector (Fuel Signal to ECM). At the same time, you must jumper yellow/black on the connector to black so that you ground the VATS starter relay to complete the starter circuit. By wiring the the starter this way, you retain the clutch safety switch/neutral safety switch. ... show more

  • Did not start a 1992 LT1 Corvette
This did not start a 1992 LT1 Corvette. The main problem is that the instructions say for this car the signal should go to the white wire on pin 19 on the 22 pin gray connector, but this wire does not exist on this car, or at least the one I was working on, even though the instructions say "All late TP1 and LT1 engines should have this wire in the harness." Adding to the confusion is that in a different part of the instructions it states that on a 1992 LT1 the signal should go to pin 19 of a 32 pin red connector, but this car did not have a 32 pin red connector, so perhaps that is an error. The instructions for a similar product from Painless Performance show how to add this wire to a car that does not have it. Because the Timers Shop instructions say this product will work on any car "if the original key has resistor chip in it", and a diagram was included showing where this wire is supposed to be, I added the wire according to the Painless instructions, but that didn't work. I tried every configuration, 50 Hz, 30 Hz, 50 Hz alternative, and 30 Hz alternative, with both direct battery and switched ignition power, for a total of eight combinations. The lights came on and a multimeter showed the output signal was the proper frequency, but the car did not respond. A VATS Delete Chip from pcmofnc started the car first try. ... show more

  • WORKS GREAT
Works great as long as you know how to wire it in correctly. Tried the 30hz setting but engine would start/stall immediately. Switched to the standard 50hz and engine runs correclty. Great little device.
