This octabox is BIG. Great for group photos, but with the grid, also great for individual portraits. Fits perfectly with the Bowens mount onto a Westcott FJ400. Use a sturdy light stand, preferably a C-Stand, with sandbags if you want to ensure it doesn't tip over. It's light enough, but don't take the risk not to. The only flaw is that the threads for the extension to use the parabolic deflector disc are not properly cut. You can screw it in a little bit, but not all the way. Easy to unfold and mount, the umbrella-type construction means you don't have to mess with rods.

Very easy to set up and use. Produces smooth beautiful light. Adorama rep Jonny Edward did an excellent demo at WPPI expo showing all the features. I use this modifier both for fill and key light. Included grid controls light spill.

I'll compare this item to the Godox softbox that I bought for half the price. The Godox started to get some tears after a few months and it was impossible to disassemble without potentially breaking it. Still, it boasted a great price if you intended to leave it set up in the studio. The Glow EZ is the softbox you want for travel and outdoor work. It's similar to bringing around an umbrella and it sets up about as easily. It's massive, so the light is beautiful and soft. It has a little reflector you can attach to the center that eliminates the hotspot from the strobe. That's great if you care about even lighting on someone's face. The grid it comes with is essential for controlling where the light hits. It's a huge light source, so without a grid it will wash over everything. Sometimes that's what you want, but you've got the option of creating a more dramatic look. The picture I'm uploading is a test shot I did while using it for the first time. Those are just some wrinkled curtains in the background and I didn't bother using a rimlight, but this pic should still give you an idea of the quality of light you can expect

Great quality and very easy to assemble. Clicks in to a Bowens mount with issues. It also comes with the grid (rather than being made to purchase that piece separately) so it’s easy to adjust lighting when needed.

Size matters. I bought this to help make some beautiful soft lighting in my photography work. It is easy to set up and take down. The build quality is top notch and super easy to take from the shop to the field.

I'm a professional photographer and have tried out A LOT of gear recently to see what I like best for indoor shoots. This softbox is top of the list. I also rented a Westcott Rapid Box Switch 48-inch Octa-L for Alienbees which I also liked but is in a higher price range. This is soft, beautiful light paired with my Alienbees but has enough pop to really make portraits shine. I love it and will keep using it!

Like other Glow products I am generally happy with this item. Though it is mostly well made they always seem to skimp on some detail or the other. On this octagon the inner diffuser is held in place with little snaps, instead of velcro. This is kind of a pain, but one of the snaps stopped working after just several uses. There is no replacement so now I have held in place with a safety pin. I also have one of their 40" beauty dish, which also puts out great light, but on that one one of the plastic ribs came loose after just two uses. Sooooo.....if I wanted to buy a comparable Westcott product it could easily cost 4 times as much, so one has to take that into consideration when sizing up a product. I shouldn't have to gerry rig something that I buy brand new, but at this price, it is not too upsetting. Good bang for buck, puts out very nice light, just not manufactured to the strictest of tolerances.

For the price I don't know how you can beat the combination of ease of assembly, portability, and usefulness. I have only used it for one shoot so far (the reason I bought it in the first place) and it was the perfect choice for lighting an on location family portrait shoot (5 people). I can assemble it in under two minutes and pack it back up quicker than that. Overall the construction is super solid and there is nothing that makes me nervous about carrying it around from shoot to shoot.
