I can't say anything bad about the lamp but I was not impressed with the packing. Between the thin plastic on everything and then held in place with the clear packing tape everywhere you feel like you have accomplished something just getting it unpacked. Have a sharp knife and scissors handy when you go to unpack this lamp. Once assembled it is a sturdy lamp, well fairly sturdy. I had to clean some white stuff off the power cord, but it came off with water. Oh, just remembered. On the plastic globe nut and socket there was a very sticky substance that prevented the nut from coming off. The entire socket cover assembly came with it. The nut inside and out was very sticky and it took Goo Gone to get the sticky stuff off, soap and water would not touch it. ... show more

I offered two of these for my classrooms. They were a bit difficult to assemble because of the wire and the light bulb holder at the top. The packaging was also a bit messy. Overall, the lamps did their job by providing additional light.

ASSEMBLY -- This really is a two person job. They should have let us know in the ad so we could have the second person lined up earlier. One person I d needed to screw the two sections of the pole together and the other to hold the weight of the pieces. And the instructions don't tell you that the part that holds the "shade" in place id already attached and must be removed before it can used. I wasted a lot of time looking for it. BRIGHTNESS -- Given that the light is directed upwards, I wanted the brightest 60 watt bulb possible. I know now I should have searched for the one with the lowest K rating. Instead I did it the harder way by looking for the highest lumen , which was 1000. Thr most typical was 800 and when I changed from the one to the other the brightness increase was clear. STUDINESS -- I don't have a rambunctious child or pet or running around myself, so I don't expect any problem with the lamp tipping over. SWITCH PLACEMENT -- I would have bought a second one of these had it not been for the turn switch being placed where you have to be st least five feet tall to turn it on or off. What are little kids supposed to do? I'm moving this lamp to an oulet with an on off switch as soon as my new lamp arrives. ... show more

I was looking for a new lamp for a bedroom and the price of the product I use in the other rooms increased significantly. I found this product which was quite similar (design, materials) for a reasonable price. This did the trick and works with my E26 light bulbs. Easy to assemble and easy to use.
