Superb cutting tools, made by GLOBAL
Excellent, well-balanced cutting performance. Steel is superb quality. Sharp out of the box. Easy to clean. Global kitchen knives are the absolute best and with routine sharpening, last forever. Buy right the first time, if you appreciate great quality knives for food prep. Understand that this is a 3” blade, so expect to use it for the right cutting task (not ideal for filetting a side of beef).

Great knife!
I ordered a Global Santoku knife a while back from a recommend in a knife forum. Turns out it was a great knife, and it quickly became my wife’s favorite kitchen knife - we had Zwilling/Henkels for the most part before I got these. They’re light weight, keep the edge for a reasonable amount of time (they all get dull, these commercials for the “world’s sharpest knife!” are silly, whack stuff up on a cutting board, go through some turkeys and roasts and it’s as dull as the $4 knife at the dollar store). They’re kitchen knives, so rust really isn’t an issue. They’re also lightweight (I believe on the bigger knives, the handle has a hollow cavity) – it’s all one-piece construction, so no handles coming off or getting damaged or destroyed by washing or leaving it too close to a burner. For Christmas I decided to replace all of our Zwilling/Henkel knives with Global knives. I ordered them à la carte – like everybody else, Global’s big sets had more than I needed and not enough of what I wanted, so if you see this review in multiple places, that the reason. Anyway, the 3” pairing knife is very nice, functional and worth the money.

small but mighty
After trying out numerous knives (places like sur la table will allow you to cut as many potatoes as you want with all of their display knives), I went with global as the knives are a decent size and weight for my small hands but my husband with his giant king kong fists finds them comfortable to use as well. I highly recommend the entire line, especially if you're someone with smaller hands and find giant knives a bit cumbersome. This paring knife is obviously the smallest in the line, but it's very sharp and I have used it for more than just peeling and small intricate work like pitting cherries.

very good, but not for everyone (thin handle)
global knives tend to be a higher rockwell and are prone to chipping, but they are great overall. This cuts like a laser overall. The handle is quite thin so anyone considering that aspect should take it into account. My wife loves the handle profile, but it is not may favorite. As is most globals, i love the cutting edge, and could do with a better handle. With any steel that is harder, chipping becomes a possibility. Given the thin nature of this blade it is more of a concern, and I've had to repair a couple of issues due to mishandling by family members. Harder diamonds are needed to reprofile the edges, or you could just have someone else do it if you are without the tools, or experience. Overall, the price point is really attractive for global knives including this one.

the ultimate cooking knife
This knife is amazingly sharp although you do have to take care of it to maintain the edge. Wipe it off after each use, don't put it in the dishwasher, and sharpen it with a wetstone periodically and you'll enjoy a lifetime of use from this amazing knife. In addition to being razor sharp it's lightweight, ergonomic, and a pleasure to use. It's a little expensive but worth the money and much better than other knives we have of the same price. Using this knife will spoil you. You won’t want to use other knives. We have global knives in three other sizes/styles and each one is the same - fantastic!

Its pretty simple to keep that way too
OMG! So sharp out of the box. Its pretty simple to keep that way too. I bought this as basic replacement for a steak knife after I caught my wife grinding my prized Kai Shun down on a crappy plastic cutting board. Now its the only knife in the kitchen she wants to use (plus she stays away from the Shun)! I find myself using it more and more as well. Its really light yet well balanced and its always scalpel sharp. I know this sounds like a no - no but I run it through the DW all the time and its still perfect. I'm so impressed I might buy a Global Chef's knife just to see if my Shun is really as good as I think it is. lol You really can't go wrong with this one.
