In the 37 years we've lived in our home, we've had various shelves in our basement to store things. Some shelves would rust and some would sag Years would pass with us saying we needed something sturdier that would keep dust off too. I wanted American made. I saw the Gladiator steel cabinet and gave it a try. I was pleased how easily it was to put together. The quality was apparent and my wife and I read directions and saw the quality of the cabinet. I was not looking forward to putting the doors on because my wife was not available to help. I did it by myself pretty easily! The holes on the uppermost area where door attaches had notches which allowed the mounting screw to put partially put in so the door could be easily hung. Once the door was on the single screw, the rest of the screws were easy. One caution; make sure you have a level surface. There is a bit of flex in the cabinet and the doors will not align properly if not on a level surface. Once that is done, it is GREAT! The cabinet easily holds heavy material. It also holds a lot!     • Not what Gladiator used to be
I have owned numerous Gladiator products over the last 15 years. They were very sturdy and came fully assembled except for the wheels. This unit needed total assembly, feels like the metal is flimsy and the doors don't align fully. I will be adding metal brackets to the back to square up the alignment.     • OMG - This was so easy and it turned out great.
The assembly turned out perfectly. I had read some negative posts about holes not lining up, and misalignment of panels. Let me be very clear...if you are having trouble putting this together, then YOU are doing something wrong. If you follow the instructions, and the proper order, this thing went together perfectly. The parts are easily identified with stickers on each piece. I've been a fan of the Gladiator Permium series for years and have several pieces. They come fully assembled with welded seams. I had stayed away from the RTA (ready to assemble) series because of so many posts about assembly issues. I wish I had saved the money and ordered the RTA's from the beginning. I love the gladiator line and the RTA option is a nice addition. Packaging was awesome, and it arrived in great condition. ... show more

    • Probably about as good as you can expect for this price.
Set it up by myself without a problem. Took longer than necessary because I put the shelves in facing the wrong way initially (the holes in the long edge of the shelf need to face the back, if I remember correctly; it should have been obvious, but it wasn't to me). For someone who didn't make silly mistakes like that, I bet you could put this thing together in an hour. It seems sturdy enough. I like that it rolls, but that the wheels have locks. Some of the ends did come bent, as other reviewers have said, but I was able to use pliers to straighten them out sufficiently, and the whole thing fit together just fine. My one real frustration that wasn't my own fault was regarding the doors, which have to be held up while the screws are tightened, otherwise they sit too low and scratch up the paint. If that detail had been in the instructions, I would have followed it. But I didn't see it anywhere, and so a piece of the paint chipped off the lowest shelf the first time I tried to close the door. I then adjusted the height of the door, and it closes just fine. So, in sum: I wish it hadn't been delivered with bent pieces; I wish the holes for the doors were drilled at heights that didn't make it possible to install them too low; but otherwise, it's a very good addition to my garage storage system. ... show more

These are well constructed and look great in any garage! They hold a lot of stuff and need very little to put them together. The wheels are nice and the price was a steal compared to the local stores!

    • Buyer beware - wrong dimensions listed.
The description of the product technical details lists the dimensions as 18 x 36 x 66 and the product description says 5 ft tall, 3 feet wide and 1 1/2 feet deep. What we received is 18 x 48 x 72...this is going in our garage. We were waiting for flooring and painting so we didn't double check the dimensions until a couple months after we received the package and of course, now we can't return it. MAKE SURE YOU VERIFY THE SIZE YOU ARE GETTING WITHIN THE 30 DAY PERIOD AS YOU MAY GET THE WRONG SIZE CABINET. ... show more

    • Set location for rotating casters
The two rotating casters are aligned with bolt holes such that they may only be installed on the back of the unit. This is not useful for moving around the shop through passages that are narrower than the unit it wide, or onto an elevator with less than a 36" opening, as the unit cannot be steered or moved sideways through that opening. Someone's view of safety has obviously taken a wrong turn. Would have been a no-go for me had I caught it before assembly. ... show more

because i bought it from Home depot center the same things. Its not a heavy duty metal. Frame is not stainless steel olyn normal TIN metal thats very low quality. i studied reviewed that got wrong information. it contains a lot of hole in its body.
