  • Great Value. Very Quiet.
Color: White Size: 12000BTU, 115V, 20 SEER2
The unit arrived in two cartons and was well packaged. The instructions, and that includes the video, do not cover all of the steps you will need to do. You will need at least two people to install this. Running the hoses and cables through the wall(s) is the biggest challenge, especially if you do not have a straight shot through an outside wall. The connections need to be really tight, they recommend a tourque wrench, but it went ok with just two open ended wrenches. The unit uses R32 coolant, which most a/c technicians don't use. You can use an R410a adapter connected to the R32 valve on the compressor unit to evacuate the lines. That took a lot of internet research to find out! The first time I evacuated them, it would not hold -28 for more than 15 minutes. If it leaks at all, stop and retighten all four connections. (There is no point in going on if it won't hold a vacuum. Getting a pro to come out and do it will probably cost half as much as the unit. They will probably not have R32 refridgerant, and you should 100% use what the unit was designed for. All refrigerant is NOT the same. It should seal without putting anything on the flanges. There could be a leak inside the blower unit, but that would probably be rare. ) The return line on the blower unit was the hardest one to tighten. We went directly through the wall behind the unit, so the only way to get to that connector was to hold the unit up away from the wall, tighten the connection and hang it up again. The video shows the hoses running out the side and then into the wall. That looked a bit rough to me, so I opted for the more challenging way. See photo. Once the lines are evacuated and hold the vacuum, turn both hex nuts on the valves on the compressor unit to.let the refrigerant into the system. I would not recommend using longer lines than the ones delivered with the unit. There may then not be enough refrigerant for the system to operate. Once running, the unit is very quiet, both inside and outside. The sound of silence. It cools very quickly. It has been running a week without any issues. Notes: 1. It has a standard 15 amp plug, so for now, I just plugged it into an existing outlet. Maybe I will make a separate circuit someday. 2. The unit pulls a lot of water from the air on humid days. Be sure to have a plan for the rather short drain hose. I will be buying more of these and eventually phase out the central a/c. ... show more

  • Junk
Color: White Size: 12000BTU, 115V, 20 SEER2
Horrible, didn't last a year, started leaking oil down my walls and stopped cooling and heating after 4months, now just ugly reminder on the wall. Would never purchase again. Weve had a cooper and Hunter for years with zero issues, wish we would have gotten another instead of wasting 100s on this junk ... show more

  • Works very well
Color: White Size: 12000BTU, 115V, 20 SEER2
We recently had an artic front move through. When temperatures got around 15F you could tell it was starting to struggle. At -15F with the unit set at 74F it was keeping the main room at 68F and 56F at the farthest point. The space it is meant to cover in our house is around 700sqft which is a large living room, a poorly insulated sunroom, master bedroom and a large master bathroom. Again the sunroom is poorly insulated. A small hallway connects the lower side of the house to the main portion of the house. When the temperature outside came back up to 20F the downstairs was toasty. It has never been toasty during the winter and we generally ran either 3 baseboard heaters or 4 plug in heaters and our pipes still froze last winter. Our pipes did not freeze this time. Not only is it keeping the downstairs warm, it is warming the upstairs 1000sqft. when the temperature is above 20F. We haven't had to run any other heat since it's got above 20F. If it cools as well as it heats, I'm going to have a lot of space heaters and window ac units for sale by next fall. We are definitely putting in more units for upstairs, the garage and the guest house. Our electricity bill in the winter has gotten as high as $600 a month but that's including trough deicers running non stop outside for farm animals, a small guest house, a very large garage and the main house. Since it is winter and I don't like the idea of having a heart attack and dying. I will not be looking at the electric bill until late spring/early summer. Mental health is very important this time of the year. So, I will close my eyes and let auto pay do it's thing until then. Hopefully next year I won't be as afraid to look at the electric bill and I will be able to update this review with a large savings to report! If I don't update it, know I lived a good full life and didn't survive the heart attack of investing in these units and not saving money on the electric bill. Update! It's now the hottest part of summer and it's fantastic. We would normally have a $4-$500 electric bill and the highest it has been is $170 that's with 2 window ac units running upstairs as well. That's a win! ... show more
