Don’t let the “High-Resolution Optics” turn your head, these are just toy binoculars. With only 4 times magnification (claimed but not tested) and a minimum close focus distance of about 11’, your child won’t get to see anything up close: I couldn’t read my outdoor thermometer from any distance. What they will get (for less than $10) is the feel of a “real” pair of binoculars: adjusting the hinge of the binoculars so the two images become one, looking at an object and bringing the binoculars up to see it through the lenses, turning the central dial to make the object (somewhat) in focus. These are sized for little hands and very lightweight (4 oz). The string that serves as a neck trap and the rubberized body will help protect them from drops. These belong in the toy category but are a toy that will spark the imagination of your little explorer or budding birder. ... show more

These binoculars do not have any settings except for the one in the middle that moves that eye piece back and forth very little. It comes with a carry string to carry over your shoulder or neck, and a cleaning cloth. They aren't very strong with vision but good enough for kids. When I opened them they smell really strong like chemicals and I noticed there is an oil or grease when zooming the lens (tried to get a picture above). The smell is extremely off putting so I am airing these outside until it goes away. Not sure that is safe for children. ... show more

These are just, okay. The kids think they are great because they have their very own for hikes now. They don't magnify much better than the naked eye. The adjustment really doesn't magnify the object wanting to be viewed by much at all. I have +.25 glasses that magnify better than these. Not horrible but not good either. ... show more
