This hose and reel is amazing!! It is super easy to install. Our yard was very wet so hammering it in the ground was easy. It works super well. It easy to pull all the hose out and it slides right back in with ease. It’s the perfect size and it’s not heavy. I do feel like this hose will last. 2 months into using this and it is great! The hose works perfectly and has no issues. It still holds to retract and the 360 spin is a nice feature when water the side and front yards. I changed the nozzle since i enjoy a particular one but aside from that this has been the best hose purchase

I love that there’s a holder for the spray nozzle and it’s easier to rotate so you can get your whole yard. A few gripes: it requires a lot of muscle to pull the hose out and it doesn’t always wind back up correctly. I’ve had to open the front multiple times to find the issue in order to get it to wind up cleanly. I like that they give hardware to install in the ground if you do t want to drill. I’m always sceptical of auto retract hose reels but giraffe tools hit this one out of the park. It comes with everything you need right out of the box. I needed this for our deck because one section is 80 feet long. The reason for choosing this reel is the design. It’s simple and understated. I did not want a big honking hose reel mounted on the wall. When not in use, you just don’t notice it. And that makes it perfect for me. The build is also great. The spring to retract the hose is very strong. Retracts perfectly every time. The spool mechanism is well engineered. Spools evenly every time. Hats off to giraffe tools!! ... show more

What a great product. It’s assembled and only have to fasten a hose to the spigot. I have a large pool patio in southeast Florida and this retractable hose winder works well. The spring us strong and winds tight.

Easy to install in the ground. Winds and unwinds with ease. I love that it swivels. The hose is a bit thinner in diameter than a traditional hose but find no issues with water pressure. The sprayer is easy to use, as there is no trigger just a push of the bar with your thumb. The gray color is appreciated as it doesn’t call attention to itself. I had to add bricks under it to bring it to a good hight for where I needed to “mount” it. I like that it has a highish profile which makes it less wide.     • No "quick-release" to remove from base, manual warns "retraction mechanism will be destroyed".

I've been holding off buying any of Giraffe's other hose reels that need to be mounted on a vertical surface because I just don't have a good place to install a huge post or bolt the monster to the side of the house. When Giraffe released this ground-mounted hose reel, it looked like a good solution despite being oddly smaller and with less hose capacity than their other models. Living in Minnesota, it is imperative that a hose reel be stored indoors during the winter. The website description for the Ground-Mounted Retractable Hose Reel states "With the quick-release system, you can also easily lift on the handle to remove the reel for storage." There is NO quick-release system. The swivel base is firmly fastened to the bottom of the reel compartment. The only way to remove the swivel base is to remove four extremely recessed screws to disassemble the base. The manual alternatively states "In winter... Disconnect the screws or Pins and store the hose reel indoors." This is NOT quick-release. I contacted Giraffe customer service asking how to quick-release the reel from the base - they replied asking for a screen capture of what I was claiming and never responded after my second (and third) reply. AND here's another frightening notation from the manual: "There is a "STOP" indication sticker 3-1/4 feet before the maximum length, don't pull the hose past this point, otherwise, the retraction mechanism will be destroyed." Is this hose reel actually that fragile? Who can see an indication sticker when standing 80-feet away from the reel? The entire unit also does not seem very durable. The reel access cover barely stays attached, the hose seems like cheap plastic, the nozzle is cheap plastic. This Giraffe Ground-Mounted Retractable Hose Reel was returned for a refund and now I am no longer interested in any of Giraffe's other products. ... show more
