  • The Super was well worth the wait
Lets set aside Nvidia's pricing policies and product releases, no argument here that they have earned the criticism they've gotten. This review is about Gigabyte's card, which I was on the fence about a 4070 and this 4080 Super. Glad I paid the extra, this card handles games and various localized AI apps to solid effect, and I didn't feel like the 20% performance bump from a 4090 was worth twice the price. Some might say I should've waited for the 5000 series, but given Nvidia's behavior with the 3000/4000 series, who knows how long it'll be before they sort out their skus for maximum profit? And as we've seen, the only price reduction is in the used market, which given how often that goes sideways no thanks. So I took the plunge and have no regrets. To praise Gigabyte specifically, and what earned them the 5th star (I'm stingy with that 5th one), they included a very effective, no frills sag prevention bracket that was better than the aftermarket one I had purchased for nearly $50. Another solid plus is where the power bracket is mounted, it's recessed from the card's edge by roughly 1.5", giving one plenty of clearance room for the mounting bracket and cables coming off of it. Some of my friends had cards that were so unfriendly in that regard, they had to buy a new case. As for performance, its pretty beefy, I run my games at 4k and while a few select games can't be run with everything at max, using MSI's Afterburner lets me run about a extra 8-12% performance give or take upon the rare occasion I need to, without undo noise or heat. The visuals have been a treat compared to my 3060TI that I had to settle for during the debacle of 2020, Witcher III, heavily modded Skyrim/Fallout, Spiderman, all play butter smooth and dazzling visuals. And it chews through various LLM models just fine when I need it to, image editing in GIMP is a breeze, and video editing in Camtasia or Blender is downright enjoyable. I'm also very pleased to say, no coil whine. ... show more

  • Works Great, Make sure your PSU is powerful enough
Played Cyberpunk2077 maxed out, modded, w/ path tracing enabled and can easily push 120ish FPS with no problems. It was pretty expensive, but you get quality in return. Definitely a huge upgrade from my 3070. Also, make sure you have an adequate power supply and a strong enough cable (had to buy a 12vhpwr corsair cable). My machine wasn't turning on for a bit because the cables included weren't adequate. Once I changed my cable to a 12vhpwr, it booted with no problem. Depending on the build, you can get away with not using a 1000w PSU. ... show more

  • Great Card, Some Caveats
I’ve been rocking an EVGA RTX 2070 for about 6 or so years now, so I felt like it was the right time to upgrade, especially with the announcement of the 50 series Nvidia cards. So I found this 4080 Super for a great price on here and ordered it. If you’re like me and are coming from a smaller town a larger card, for the love of god do NOT skimp on the included mounting bracket when installing this card. It’s a little bit of extra work, but not doing so will lead to the card sagging and putting a lot of strain on your motherboard that could rip off the entire PCIE slot or even cracking the whole board. Also be careful when taking out and handling the card. I may have bent some of the radiator grates ever so slightly. It won’t cause any major damage to performance, but the cosmetic element is irritating. Aside from those things, the card itself is perfect! It’s extremely powerful and I’ve seen a massive boost in FPS, even allowing me to crank up the settings on modern games quite a lot. Indiana Jones and The Great Circle for example looks breathtaking. And even something like heavily modified Assetto Corsa looks incredible. I’ve also noticed that even in heavier loads, the card itself is a lot less noisy than my 2070. Also some really nice RGB lighting to it. And of course, all the features on GeForce Experience and even a 4 year warranty from Aorous Gigabyte is included. Realistically, if you’re going to buy this card, it’s a great choice, but let me say a couple of things. If you can snag this for the same price I did (which with tax it was $1,179.99), fantastic deal. It will happily last you 6+ years. HOWEVER, any more than that can be a cause for thought. There are some 4080 Supers out there that are $1500 and beyond, which is just not worth it. Especially if Nvidia’s claims are true and that the 50 series cards with their AI integration with the prices they’re aiming for, you might want to hold off on getting something like a 4080 Super. Consider your budget, your build, and what you can find. But if you can get this card for what I paid for or even less, that’s a helluva bargain. The only other major gripe I have with this card is the placement of the connectors, putting them right in the middle of the card and ruining whatever cable design/aesthetic/management you have. Eh. Still, fantastic card! ... show more

  • Great GPU!
This is a great card if you want high end 1440p / 4K performance. I recently made a build and so far I have no complaints. Temperatures are good and fan noise as well as coil whine are at a minimum. It even comes with an anti-sag bracket that connects to your motherboard and the side of the card. It has a nice design with RGB (of course it can be turned off). Would recommend! ... show more

  • Loving it
Upgraded from a 1070 to this 4080 and i knew it was going to be an improvment but fantastic graphics all on ultralight and running smoothly.

  • GPU Started Locking Up Almost Immediately After Install
GPU immediately started locking up - I’ll never get back the week of my life spent troubleshooting, replacing/repairing parts, researching how to fix it, etc. Not to mention, the $100 I had to spend to officially get a diagnostic done on the GPU at a local PC Repair place for them to confirm the issue was, indeed, with the GPU. I ended up buying the MSI version instead of GIGABYTE and the replacement 4080 Super has worked superbly. Never getting gigabyte again. ... show more

  • Arrived Sealed
Was nervous to buy a 4080 Super labeled brand new, as they are discontinued from production. However the GPU arrived fully sealed and is still an absolute beast in 2025. Very happy with the purchase.
