Style: GTX 1080 G1 Gaming
So far so good, this beast can alone run most of todays modern games at 4k 60fps with high settings and AA off or low (which really doesn't make a difference due to the abundance of pixels), games that were released before 2013-2014 will run at 4K with ease. Power Consumption - It only haves an 8 pin conector, i was worried about this but no more, i managed to OC this to 2,114MHz and sustain stable gaming consistently, while OC i up the voltage for a stable functionality. As other 1080s, it consumes 180W, and can go up max to 225W. Temperatures - Right to business, on full load and with overclocked settings, max Temp i've seen is 70C, which is pretty good considering max temp she can handle is 93C, still, always make sure it doesn't go 75C for durability reasons. On idle, fans hover around 30% maintaining 35-40C temperature. Performance - This card slaughters 1080p ultra, slaughters 1440p on ultra too. To achieve 4K 60 FPS, you must tweak and play with the settings. Use MSI afterburner and while playing, check for GPU usage, tweak your settings until you see the GPU usage hovering 85-95% usage which will result on the best image possible she can give you while maintaining solid 60 fps. Keep in mind 4K is lots of pixels so don't worry about sacrificing some settings in order to achieve stable FPS, believe me, it won't make a noticeable difference, go with low or medium Anti-aliasing depending the game, ambient occlusion is the only settings that at 4K really hammers the GPU, this setting is noticeable because it gives the image a better contrast between lights and shadows, but it really depends whether you want more fps and your taste in graphics quality. Be aware that in 4K drops will occur rewardless for the settings you select, to achieve 4K 60FPS on ultra, go with SLI the you won't have to worry about nothing. Things to consider for novice gamers: - Know that you'll need a good CPU that is able to keep up with the GPU demand so you can prevent a bottleneck. I currently use a 6700k OC to 4.4GHz and it reaches 65-70% usage when playing games like Watch Dogs 2 at 4K and Mafia III at 2K, all the other games i've played stay below 50% cpu usage. - If you're aiming for full 4K gaming at highest settings go for SLI ( two 1080s) - Case must have good ventilation and airflow to dissipate heat. - Make sure the card is well attached to mobo's slot, lot of users have complained that their socket was damaged due to GPU weight. - Don't OC GPU unless necessary, given it more unnecessary juice will result on drivers crash and GPU malfunction. - Always monitor your system temperatures when playing at high resolutions. ... show more

  • Just what you need to be over the top cutting edge!
Got two in SLI. Just what you need to be over the top cutting edge now, and for a little while longer also. I've got an Intel Hex(40pcie lanes) on a v2011 MOBO w/ x16 for both cards and a 1200w psu. This is connected to 1440p/144hz/G-Sync and 4k/60hz/10bit displays. I did the usual benches with GTA V, WItcher 3, ROTTR, Mordor, and yes even Batman AK. They rocked 'em all. I used the settings that most professional reviewers do(No AA, Vsync off-except gsync). I also turned off any blur options since it defeats the purpose of the rig I use. All other settings are as high as the games allow. Cards a bit more quite than my old G1 970's. Presently using the older sli bridges for them. 4k: 70-90 FPS! 1440p: 100-150FPS! Warning: Others have stated that these are essentially 3 slot cards and it's true. I've never seen cards this wide before. Update 11/12/16: Still loving these cards. I had to get an actual NVidia HB bridge because of the spacing on my MOBO(Gigabyte UD3 X79). I tried an EVGA HB and couldn't get it to seat properly but the NV took a little effort and then was all good. I've been messing with OC'ing even more but the card naturally does what it can based on NV's firmware. Basically once they get above 60c they will begin dialing back from the 2+ghz speeds. I used afterburner to set the fans at 100%(gets loud) but able to hold 2050-2088ghz in a room thats 69f for 4 hours of gaming. ... show more

  • Amazing cards!
I decided to go with gigabyte again because I had a wonderful experience with two G1 gaming 970's. These cards came today and all I can say is wow. Extremely good build quality and a unique design. I was worried as some other reviews stated they received cards with bent parts or issues with the fans. Thankfully, both of mine came in near perfect condition. I say near perfect because one card had two bent heatsink fins at the back of it. However, I easily corrected this with a pair of tweezers, returning it to pristine condition. Installation was simple save for the SLI bridge. It is, as one other review stated, a little finicky unless you get it on just right. After a minute of fiddling it was working perfectly. I already had the latest drivers so after a few minutes, geforce experience recognized them, and adjusted the resolution all by itself. Temps are great on both of the cards even though they do sit very close together with a 1 slot space between them. These cards are actually 2.5 slots tall, so if you like more space between them you wont be using the included SLI bridge. As for performance, they are amazing. My 970's were struggling to run my new 3440x1440 monitor on a few games (another reason for the upgrade). I'm now easily getting 100 FPS plus on anything I play with maxed settings. All while staying dead quiet. Kind of over kill, but I figure this way I'm set for a few years. Plus, they have finally dropped below MSRP so I couldn't resist grabbing two. Now for the reason I took one star off. The stupid xtreme gaming software. They don't come with a disk, or any kind of paper work saying where to download it. So naturally I found it on the downloads page of the xg,gigabyte website while registering them for the warranty. Upon opening it...surprise surprise...it didn't work. For some reason it refused to find the cards. I tried wiping the drivers and re-downloading, restarts, and just plain waiting to see if it needed a minute. Nothing seemed to to work. So, to the google I went for answers! I found a reddit page that said the version on that site wasn't right. So I uninstalled it and went searching on gigabyte.us. You have to go to the product page for the card, click support and downloads at the top, change download type to utility, and poof! There is the correct version. 1.18 as of 11/03/2016. Downloaded that and it worked perfectly. No need for restarts to get it to save lighting or oc profiles like others encountered. All of the changes were immediate and saved upon clicking apply. It should not have been that complicated to find the proper software. An hour of my life is gone because some one at gigabyte is to lazy to fix it properly. If they ever do, i'll add that fifth star. As for now, they get four. The cards themselves are easily 5 stars though. I highly recommend them. ... show more
