I got my girlfriend into the game with this deck and she absolutely loves it! I play another precon deck and I upgraded both this deck and that deck we play against each other all the time and we have so much FUN! This deck is great for beginners and right out of the box it plays extremely well! It’s straight to the point but it’s unique and enough where not every game will play exactly the same in fact we have had some really oh my god moments with this one. I recommend this to anyone who is a veteran or a beginner! I’ve been playing magic for decades and my girl friend has been playing for a couple months and she beats me with this 50 percent of the time. It’s definitely worth every penny in my opinion. A lot of variety great value and definitely beginner friendly oh and fun as heck! Buy this one if you can.

I really love this Magic Commander deck! I purchased this upon the recommendation of my son who is an experienced player and suggested I get this one for a starter deck. The quality of the cards is the first thing that stood out. I love the artwork, the sturdiness of the cards, and their durability. I've played this deck numerous times and it still looks brand new. The ease of use is comparable to any other starter deck of Magic as far as I can tell. I was the only one at the table to have this set and they all thought it was really cool. The value for the money is spot on. At the time, cost no more than any other starter deck. Now I think this deck may have increased in value, but when I bought it when it came out it was priced appropriately. I really enjoyed the playability of the cards and the gameplay is really, really good! I'm still learning the best methods and combinations of playing the cards. I love the concept that this deck contains scavengers!

Lvl 2 pod ready, if your pod plays lvl 3, 4, or 5 you will need serious upgrades $$$$$$. However the deck has a fun theme and the cards are super cute.

As a 34-year-old mom balancing full-time work, full-time studies, a husband, four daughters (19-year-old twins who are into gaming, a 16-year-old, and a 4-year-old), plus two energetic dogs and five cats that love knocking over anything on tables, I needed a low-stress hobby to unwind. I picked up the Magic: The Gathering Bloomburrow Commander Deck - Animated Army for some Commander nights with my older girls, and it's brought some exciting family game time after a few sessions. Deck Contents and Theme: This precon deck centers on the Animated Army commander, featuring squirrel and token generation mechanics in the whimsical Bloomburrow setting with animalfolk characters. It includes 100 cards, a life tracker, a deck box, a strategy insert, and tokens—everything ready to play out of the box. The art is adorable with forest critters animating into armies, appealing to my daughters' love for cute yet strategic games. The mana base has basics and some dual lands, but it's tuned for green-white, focusing on proliferate and +1/+1 counters for growing your forces. Gameplay and Strategy: In our games, the deck shines in building a wide board of animated tokens, overwhelming opponents with squirrels and rhinos—super fun for casual pods where we laugh at the fluffy army takeovers. My twins appreciate the synergy with cards like proliferate engines that scale threats quickly, and it's forgiving for newer players like my 16-year-old. Setup is quick, and the included tokens make tracking easy, even with my cats batting at the table. However, the mana curve feels a bit top-heavy early on, sometimes leading to slow starts if draws are unlucky, requiring some sideboard tweaks for consistency. Build Quality and Value: The cards are standard MTG quality—premium foils in key spots without warping—and the deck box holds everything snugly, surviving my dogs' curious sniffs. For the price, it's a great entry into Commander for Bloomburrow fans, with upgradable slots for custom touches. No major misprints, and the strategy guide helped us optimize it right away. Pros: Engaging token and animation theme, perfect for family game nights. Ready-to-play with solid precon synergy and fun art. Good value, including extras like tokens and storage. Scalable for beginners to experienced players in my household. Cons: Mana curve can be clunky in early turns without tuning. Relies heavily on board presence, vulnerable to wipes. Tokens might scatter easily with pets around the table. Final Thoughts: The Animated Army deck from Bloomburrow has added a delightful, strategic twist to our gaming sessions, helping me relax amid the chaos of kids and pets. It's not tournament-level out of the box, but it excels in casual fun, and my daughters are hooked. I'd recommend it to fellow busy parents or MTG newcomers wanting themed decks—might add some ramp cards for better flow.
