  • Perfect for my HTPC
This little PC is truly amazing! I wanted a decent HTPC, so I picked up one of these. The i3 has enough power to run anything my kids will want it for without a twitch in performance. The 16 GB RAM capacity allows me to mount movies in RAM for flawless playing. The projector works well, and far better than I expected. For this price, I expected a weak bulb, difficult focus, and poor resolution. For videos, you get a good picture at any range, easy manual focus, and good light range (it works in dim and darker). The internal speakers are useless for movies. I only use them when I am doing something with this as a computer. The single mSATA III is plenty for essential files if you are willing to spend a little bit on the SSD. Four USB 3.0 ports mean you can set up a USB 2.0 hub station for many externals, and still have three USB 3 ports for high speed use. A Bluetooth keyboard makes this perfect for my needs. Using the USB, I have added over a TB of external storage, and use a 256 GB SSD. It's not a gaming PC; if you want to run new games on this one, you will be disappointed. The only complaint (other than the speakers) that I have is the inaccessible construction where the projector connects. A SATA port would be very nice to have, allowing a SSD + HDD. In the i3 BRIX without the projector, there is a spot for a 2.5" where the projector mounts, but I was unable to check. All-in-all, this is an excellent computer, and it can be set up to meet any sub-gamer needs. ... show more

  • Good idea - but in practice resolution reduces its usefullness
Looked into a portable NUC like machine based on the new Intel form factor. Happened to need a mini projector as well, so went with this barebones system. The projector works great both as a standalone computer with externally connected monitor, or as a standalone projector. But does not work good as a computer projector. Why? The native resolution is too small and lots of things won't fit the native resolution of the projector making the user needing to scroll and pan around windows and documents as well as presentations. I've used the projector mainly for watching movies in dark rooms and used the computer portion by itself for work and browsing. The fan from the projector is not too loud but almost always on. Built in speakers really is just on/off - no real volume adjustment. It uses little power so I brought it camping using an inverter and a portable battery to watch full movies. Uses only small form factor SSD, and laptop memory, so is basically a laptop ultrabook platform architecture. For the after rebate price - you can't beat the value for a projector and computer. In hind sight I'd probably still buy separate devices, Intel NUC and mini LED projector, since although it does work well, its a bit of a hassle to disconnect the computer from external monitor to use as an entertainment projector. I tend not to like to move my computer around but a portable projector is good specifically for portability. I can't see this as a good sales person portable presentation tool since the native resolution is too low, and they won't provide drivers to downscale to this resolution. ... show more

  • Limitations, but very neat
So far so good. Installed both Windows 8 and Windows 7 to test it out, the drivers worked fine. I appreciate the internal video feed connection, makes it look very sleek when running. However, the low resolution severely hinders Windows usage. Would have preferred if they enabled auto downsampling (via hardware or software) rather than limiting to a low resolution. Metro apps won't run. Another quirk, the internal speaker makes a high pitched whiny noise when the projector is turned on. Disabling the Realtek Audio Device removes the sound though, so it seems to only make the noise when the driver is loaded. Weird. Did this in both Win7 and Win8. Could be electromagnetic interference within the sound board? ... show more

  • Overall Great!
For the size and cost of this PC you are getting a great deal. It is not the best resolution, but I don't have any problems with watching netflix or youtube on the wall of my room. This will def not be a 4K picture through the proj, but that is expected for the price. I have not run the projector for more than 40-50 minutes so I am not sure how bad the fan gets if you run it longer, but for the 40-50 min timeframe I didn't notice the fan at all. Overall a great PC! ... show more

  • New favorite toy
Excellent product overall, i wouldn't recommend to the extreme resolution junky. If you want a quality computer with an added benefit of a dark room projector, then go with this machine. I use a dual boot Linux OS and have not been disappointed. Would give it 5 stars if it didn't seem to have a limited power output to the usb ports. With so much going on in such a small size it's totally worth a few quirks. Will buy from this company again! ... show more

  • Nice little computer
I love this little computer. I have it hooked up to a touch screen and it works just like an all in one for less $. The projector is a neat toy but it is not very useful. It works well with Hdmi input for video but is too low of a resolution for any windows programs I have found. I have 240 GB SSD and 8 GB ram. Be sure to confirm they will work with this computer before you buy. ... show more

  • The $50 rebate appears to be a scam!!!!
The box for this item came from AMAZON with a taped on UPC and serial number label. I tried to request the rebate (the process is online) and I got a "GIGABYTE product serial number Is Not Valid" message. I called AMAZON and they referred me to Verizon Air Rebates at 1 800 457-0864. (Huh!? - This is a GIGABYTE product.) The Verizon Air number is just a bunch of menu items explaining the rebate process. No help in resolving the problem. No menu item for an invalid serial number and no apparent way to talk to anyone. The product works almost as expected. However, unlike a laptop, there is no internal battery, and the unit may instantly shut off if the power cord is moved. Also, the Microsoft Store was unavailable (Windows 8) because the resolution of the internal projector was too low. I had to hook it up to a monitor, and increase the resolution. I have a few more weeks to return the item. I definitely not happy about the rebate not being valid for the unit sent to me. Good luck and be warned!!!! ... show more
