  • My first DIY PC $460 build.
I think I made a great choice with this Aorus Elite B450. I added the Ryzen 3 2200G. This board has 6 temperature sensors which I think is nice feature. 4 RGB headers (2 are addressable) plus 2 rgb zones built onto the MB (one of those is the Falcon's Head) You can program them all differently with the RGB Fusion. i got 3 green fans 4 pins for $10.00. The fans do not change color but the 4 pins allows the speed to be adjusted. I like the placement of the 4 Drams. i put in 2 Patriot Vipers 3000mhz Red, they look awesome glowing off the RGB strip I installed. I am getting the 3000mhz without any overclocking. This MB holds 2 NVME M.2 SSD's which are so much faster than the 2.5 SSD's. 1 is PCIE Gen 3x4 and 1 is PCIE Gen 3x2. I bought the X2 before realizing the X4 was twice as fast as the X2 and 5 X faster than the 2.5 SSD's . Both are 256GB, one was $41.00 the other $45.00. Ended up using both but could have saved a chunk on this budget PC here. But this gives me 500 GB hard drive space all Solid State. I am using the StoreMI to combine the 2 drives. I may add my old 1TB HDD but I want to try to stick to all solid if I can. The Ryzen has a pretty good built in graphics card but i have to have 3 monitors so i put in my old 1050i. My old Dell had DDR3, Intel I7 4th gen (so not up gradable). DVD players are now old school. I do not know if it is mainly the NVME's but this new PC is so much faster and responsive. My windows 10 has done a couple of upgrades and done in like 30 seconds. The BIOS is awesome too, you can see the temperatures, what speed each fan is running at, what mhz your dram is doing, you can use f2 to toggle from easy mode to full mode. It is even easy to to overclock the system. I am an old fart so not that into gaming but I do a lot of graphics design. I am glad I made the switch to AMD from Intel. I am glad I went with the bigger mother board, I may need the extra PCI slots and DDRs later, I am sure I will use all 4 LED headers, I am thinking of hanging a LED clock on the wall and putting a small infinity mirror inside the case. So for $400.00 plus monitors you can build a nice up gradable gaming system. ... show more

  • One of the best value boards.
This has replaced the tough series as our go to boards. This has better VRM than the Asus Toff boards, even the x470 Tuff boards. In-fact the only difference between the Tuff B450 and X470 boards is the chipset and USB I/O, both have same VRM that is inferior compared to the Aorus series. I have about a dozen systems of each out in the wild now, and the only one I've had to repair under warranty is the Tuff series. The Gigabyte Aorus ones are just a better board. The feel more robust, heavier PCB, better VRM, integrated I/O shield (which the TUFF lacks), and none have died on us yet (compared to 2 of the ASUS boards that died in the first 5 months). Unless the customer request an x470/570 board this will be the center of most of our builds going forward. ... show more

  • Good motherboard
I normally buy gigabyte motherboards. They are a good motherboard brand and make very stable motherboards. This is important for a motherboard, its the heart of your computer along with the CPU, you don't want a 'fast' motherboard or a 'gaming' one, you want a motherboard that is going to work well and be stable. Also gigabyte is good because their motherboards are reasonable in price and its a good value for what you get. All the features are fine, the bios is fine, I didn't install the software that came with it, but gigabyte gives you a lot of software and Norton internet security. It also has RGB lights which my computer doesn't have a glass case but it does sort of look cool and its subtle. Its not some ridiculous display of rgb lights like many computers. Supposedly motherboard manufactures including gigabyte are taking off pci express 4.0 because AMD requested it on all middle and lower end chipsets, so you might not want to keep that in mind 2 Caveats. 1. There are stickers on some of the components like the I/O panel and thermal guard. You might not notice it, its important to take these stickers off so they don't melt. Also the thermal guard can only be used once, it has a sticky adhesive but if you have to take it off , it won't stick again. 2. This is the first time I used a SSD card and you have to make sure that your SSD card can work. I thought m.2 was all I need to know, but there is M.2 pci-e and M.2 SATA. One of the M.2 slots is under the pci e lane for video cards which I don't think is a good spot. I had to return my ssd because the slot it could fit in didnt have a place for the screw holder that fit the ssd card but the other slot did, but that wasn't for the right type of interface. It seems like a bad design choice. Also depending on the m.2 slot, it actually shuts down some of your other sata devices. Although it explains this in the manual, so you want to check this before you buy. If you don't have a lot of sata devices it shouldn't be a big deal. You can read the manual online for free from their website. I give this 4/5 stars and highly recommend. It's a stable motherboard and a really good price. It has some flaws but no motherboard is perfect. ... show more
