Gibson Soho Lounge 16-Piece Square Reactive Glaze Dinner Set - Red I want to provide information from our experience which differs from many of the past reviews we read on the Amazon website. My wife and I rely heavily on reviews from others when making purchasing decisions on Amazon. We were somewhat reluctant to purchase these dishes after reading the various reviews regarding breakage, chipping and color variations but went ahead and ordered due to finding a very good price point from one of the sellers. We found one seller from Amazon selling the 16 piece set for an amazing $36.33 per set! For that price point, we felt it was worth the risk to order these dishes. - We are extremely pleased with our purchase. These dishes are beautiful! The colors and shading from piece to piece are consistent with no scratches on the surface. We experienced no chips and no breakage during shipment. - We purchased four sets desiring to have 12 place settings on hand and to have four additional place settings in reserve. - We think the color shown (description states red but we saw that the color looked more like a burgundy/burgundy rust) on the Amazon site and our perception of the color shown was very comparable to what was delivered. - The packaging from the manufacturer is very solid. In fact its so solid that the dishes somehow withstood the very poor additional packaging from Amazon. Amazon sent us our four sets in two separate deliveries (two sets at a time). Amazon put two sets into one larger box to ship them. Amazon did not make sure that the two inside boxes were right side up when placing them into the larger box. Nor did Amazon add very much additional cushioning packing material inside the larger box to keep the two smaller boxes from moving/bouncing around, etc. There are so many reviews discussing breakage on these dishes during shipment. I'm convinced that this is an Amazon issue and not the fault of the manufacturer. - A few previous reviewers noted that their sets of dishes were manufactured in different countries (China and I believe Vietnam were mentioned) and they noticed slight variations in the shades and shapes of the dishes from country to country. Our dishes were ALL manufactured in China so we did not experience any of those issues. - We've washed these dishes in the dishwasher and had no breakage or cracks identified in other reviews. The dishes also fit easily in our dishwasher. - We've experienced no knife or fork marks after using the plates and bowls. - We've not yet chipped or broken any of these dishes on our own. All dishes can chip or break if not handled somewhat gently. We are not too rough on our dishes so maybe we are more of the exception. We won't clank the dishes together to test their chipping resistance!! :) - More important than anything else, my wife loves these dishes and have given them her hard earned seal of approval! We hope this helps those that are considering these dishes. We'd absolutely purchase these dishes again. This was our experience and know that others experiences have often been quite different than ours.

I swapped out my entire set on a whim and took a chance on this, and I couldn’t be happier that I did. The color is gorgeous, and has held up beautifully over tons of washing. Microwave it, wash it however you want, it’s made of a solid, strong material with a lot of heft. The dinner plates are a little larger than I expected and keep from closing cabinets all the way, but small price to pay for an otherwise amazing all around set.

I had been eyeballing these dishes for years. They went on sale on prime day so I snagged them up. They are beautiful and exactly what I wanted for my black & white, red accented kitchen. I didn’t buy for a long time because people said they were heavy. I don’t find them to be heavy compared to my last dishes. They are actually lighter. My only compliant would be the bowls and how they nest together. They are bulky in height. 4 stacked together is aprox 7.5 in. high X 7 in. wide. Whereas the plates nest at a low profile of 2 to 3 in. high. The mugs also don’t stack well. 2 mugs stacked is also aprox 7.5 in. high. I would suggest hanging them or buying mug stackers on Amazon to save space. My other suggestion is to buy an extra box when purchasing, so you can insure there are no imperfections or stress cracks on the dishes you decide to keep. Return what isn’t needed. I originally bought two boxes and one mug had a stress crack and I didn’t want to keep it. I called Gibson for a replacement mug and was told it would be around $7 to replace it + shipping. Uh no! So I returned the whole box for a replacement box, Amazon of course was amazing and shipped the replacement box within 2 days. Super fast! So just order an extra box and pick and chose the best dishes. Obviously let them know if you are returning defective or broken dishes so they don’t try to resell. I has asked about these dishes leaving finger prints, and someone answered no. But I can see finger prints on the black outside, but they are easily washed or wiped away. Nothing too annoying. Now I need to find some black silverware with good reviews and my look will be complete.

I was very skeptical about purchasing dishes online. I feared they would come in broken. To my surprise, they were very nicely packed and not one was chipped or broken. This is a nice looking set. With the occasional glaze bubble and thickness off. Nothing surprising. Perfect for our lake cottage!

This is my second side of these dishes I’ve purchased. They’re very sturdy. They work very well in the microwave and they look nice. The Square design gives you more room on the plate and changes things up a bit.

These dishes have been an excellent buy for me. The color is exactly what you see here, the cups are comfortable to grip whether you're drinking tea, Kool-aid or a Capri sun that you emptied out into a cup for some reason. The large plates are absolutely large plates. And by that I mean they will not spin in my microwave, because they are that big. But hey, if you have a big microwave then don't even sweat it big dawg.

I gave it a five star because they arrive in one piece. I been using them for a month everyday and i can say they will last. But like any other thing nothing is perfect. Dinner plate was too big for the microwave. It doesnt spin but the Good thing is i dont use the dinner plate too heat food up. Also the size lines of the plates are discoloring and one already chipped a little bit. No big deal. Like i said nothing is perfect. But overall they are beautifull and i am happy. They are heavy specially the dinner plate. I had round heavy plates so i am used to it.
