Needless to say after using them(not all) the bowls and mugs were cracking down the sides and leaking whatever liquid was in or on them. I have had to throw away 4 mugs and two plates and two bowls already. I’m not happy as I bought around thanksgiving and have Had to throw away so many pieces already. I bought these dishes a month ago. As I was about to put a cup on the table, I accidentally touched the handle of one with the handle of the other one when placing them on the table. The whole handle broke off. I was shocked to see how delicate this dishes are. Now, I only have 3 cups instead of 4. The “Sturdy” part of the description is not accurate at all. I do have to recognize how beautiful they look. I had a lot of comments coming from my asian friends.. I hand wash them since they are not sturdy. ... show more

I love this set. I was leery at first because I read all the reviews and saw pictures of people getting them broken. I knew I wanted 2 sets, but I wanted to only order 1 set to see if they were as beautiful as they were pictured and no defects. I was pleasantly surprised and they arrived as expected with no broken items. I placed my second order for another set and they too arrived perfectly. I loved these dishes for a while, but there’s a serious problem with the glaze. If the glaze cracks on the surface it will be a place for bacteria to grow. We bought an extra set so that we could return a few dishes that the glaze obviously had dark lined cracks in. But in time the other dishes started to have similar problems. You can see in the pictures where something oozed out of cracks after the bowl was put in the microwave. They also crack and break very easily, but that’s really secondary to the fact that the dishes just aren’t sanitary. ... show more

Like the color, but the way the dishes are finished, results in forks and spoons catching on the "cracks." Aside from a minor annoyance it makes me wonder if this will contribute to increased wear, or chipping with usage. The dessert plates had more deformity from plate to plate than expected and when stacked it is quite noticeable. It doesn't affect their use, but it does look odd when you see them stacked. I'll use them, but with what I know now, I wouldn't buy them again. ... show more

So I've officially had this dishware set for 3 years now & I'm down to 2 of each item. Over the past 3 years I've used them almost 3 times a day & hand washed them each time (because I don't own a dishwasher). These dishes have been thrown around from shelf, counter, table, sink, drying rack, & back to the shelf. Not to mention the times they've been left on the floor for the dogs to clean. To my surprise they've held up VERY well. Almost every one that broke was due to me slamming them around in the sink when I was washing them. The one exception was when I intentionally broke a large plate during an argument. I'm writing this review because I'm just about to make a second purchase, because they're totally worth the price, hold up well, & look awesome!! ... show more

I've had these dishes for about 18 months now. I bought 4 sets so I had enough for 16 people. I have put them in the microwave(>50 times), dishwasher (>50 times), and also washed by hand. Pros: -Look gorgeous -Don't scratch, withstand multiple cleanings without fading or getting scratched (I scrub with the green and yellow scotchbrite sponges, no issues.) -Nice solid weight to them - I'm a frugal shopper, but I look for good quality at a reasonable price and these won out over a dozen or more other brands and styles I looked at for as a present to my wife. Cons: - Get too hot in the microwave, especially the bowls. Sometimes my food won't be even hot, but the bowl cannot be held without an oven mitt! It's like they steal the heat that was meant for the food. I've resorted to switching bowls after heating to a cool bowl and/or using a different type of container altogether for microwaving. Breaking - Yes they are breakable but I've had them 18 months and so far I've lost 2 large plates and one mug to breakage. One plate cracked in half, I'm assuming it had an air bubble that got to hot either in the microwave or dishwasher. One mug and one plate just got dropped. I might not recommend these in a house with kids, depending on your kids. I would not even want to drop a plate from one foot up, it would have a high chance of breaking. - They do also get chipped. There are really very few chips in them, (maybe 6-8? on all off the 62 pieces I have?) but they have gotten a few chips here and there. So, overall I give them 5 stars. Stoneware is going to get hot in the microwave and break/chip, it's the nature of the material. I love the glaze and as a gift to my wife they have a sentimental value and she loves them as well. We serve guests proudly with them and with their performance so far I expect another 3-5 years out of them before we lose enough that we need to consider a new set. Well worth the $200 (4 sets @ $50 each) that I paid. ... show more
