I love the whitewashed wood look, it is very coastal to me, so I have been buying items to redo our home. This buffet I had my eyes on for a long time and pulled the trigger on Prime day. We bought another buffet earlier in the year that was so hard to put together that we just returned it. This one was pretty difficult as well, just pictures, no instructions, but we did it, and it took my husband and I probably close to 3 hours to do this together. The majority of the pieces are super sturdy, but some are pretty flimsy. I would recommend the company pack these with more insulation. There was one minor chip on a piece that of course faces the front, but you really can't see it unless you are paying attention big time. We had several screws, etc., left over, not sure why... It is very solid and a really nice piece to add to our growing collection!!! No pictures as it looks just as it is advertised! ... show more

    • A Frustrating Task-Love The End Result
This sideboard is just what I was looking for. The color described was accurate and matches my table and chairs perfectly. Opening the box was alarming as so many pieces with small plastic bags of screws, bolts and metal parts which broke while tightening. I had to order another type of screws that were stronger and worked. My daughter-in-law put it together for me which even for her was a complicated and frustrating job.     • Don't fear the assembly. It's not that bad.
I researched a lot of these type of pieces for a few weeks, and I always came back to this one as the one that best fit in terms of color, size, and what I was looking for in this type of furniture. Even though years ago I used to work in a hardware store and often built this type of furniture, I was a little concerned about multiple reviews stating difficult to assemble even for experienced furniture builders. In the end, it fit what I wanted so I went with it. I just received my item, and I have just started put about half of it together in about 40 minutes. A few items things that standout: 1. Maybe this item has been updated. Although the item on Amazon says it is a "Giantex Buffest Server Sideboard," there is no Giantex labeling anywhere. My product says Costway, and, this might be a good thing based on some past reviews. 2. Don't be scared off by the "difficult to assemble" reviews. There are a LOT of pieces. Somewhere between 25-30 wood pieces that all need to be put together. But,thinking this is an updated unit, I found the instructions to be very straightforward. All the wooden pieces are labeled, as are all the bags of screws and hardware. Many of the pieces are held together with locking screws, where you have a long screw with no thread that inserts into a round metal piece that you turn with a screwdriver to lock in place. I had also seen some reviews that said the instructions were poor, and only one picture. With the Costway labeled product I received, the instructions are detailed. This definitely isn't EASY to assemble, but if you have put furniture pieces like this together before then I would just consider it time consuming because of the many pieces. If you aren't very familiar with putting things like this together, then yes, it might be a bit more difficult. 3. I saw some reviews about the unit sagging in the middle after only a few months. I kind of chalked that up to people putting to much weight on the unit. However, I did notice that in the box, there is 3-4 inch long 1x1 inch square wooden block in the box. Looking at the instructions, that piece is intend to go on the bottom center of the unit to help prevent sagging. The only reason I am giving it a 4 instead of a 5 is, the color is not exactly what I expected. I ordered the natural wood version, which I hoped would match my natural wood dining room table. Based on the picture, it appeared it would be extremely close. Once pulled out of the box, I would say the natural wood is more in-between the natural wood and grey wood color options. It might be due to the grain of the wood, but natural wood color looks more like a driftwood color than the color of a fresh untreated 2x4 piece of lumber. It took 3 hours to assemble on my own. I took each peice and placed them spread out separately and placed all hardware just to the side also in order so i could grab a part without digging. This made assembly exponentially easier and if anything was missing i could solve the problem now with a visit to a home improvement store for a missing screw or something. Lucky I had everything on hand. If you don't already have one get an electric screwdriver or drill..this will make your life SO much easier. It is well made, sturdy and a gorgeous addition to my home. Buy this item! ... show more

I can’t recommend this piece less. Honestly even on sale, not worth it. The company owes us marriage counseling. The instructions are only pictures (horrible quality ones) and no words. We were missing most of the screws. Took us 4 hours to build. 0/10

    • Great Piece for the Money

This item is much darker in person than it appears in the photos, but it worked fine for my space. One piece arrived broken. I contacted the manufacturer who was very prompt and polite in their response. Sadly, the broken piece is not in stock and it is going to take 30-45 days until they can send it out. They did offer a $40 refund in case I didn't want to wait so long, but I didn't think I could find a suitable part to replace it. I am lucky it was not a structural piece, so I assembled it and am using it as is. Assembly took about 3 hours between my husband and I (mostly me) putting it together. There are no written instructions, just diagrams showing which pieces and hardware you need to use in that step. It did confuse me a few times and I had to undo and redo a few steps. I definitely needed his help for a few steps. All in all, this buffet looks very nice for the price and will look even nicer when the broken part is here and screwed on. I was concerned about how sturdy it would be as I was assembling it, but once it was all together it is in fact quite sturdy. I will update this review when the broken part has arrived and is replaced and add photos of the finished product. ... show more
