The media could not be loaded. Overall: When it comes to safes, I think a decent safe for a good price is a good enough solution. If you are hoping to have this safe be unbeatable, you may want to consider a different option. If you are considering this safe, mounted against a wall somewhere for tax documents, gold, watches, and/or quite a few handguns then this safe is good enough for most applications - decent security, good looking, easy to use. Normally I’d have given this a 4-star rating, but customer service was very responsive in solving the small issues I had upon receiving the safe. So the combination of a good safe for a good price with good customer service earns it the 5-star. The details: When I first received the safe, I was really impressed with how it was packaged. The shipping materials were plenty strong enough with plastic corners and thick styrofoam overlays. There was no damage from normal shipping operations. The exterior looks really nice and the access ports to the key slots are easy to access but clean looking when covered. In order to access them you lightly push on the bottom portion of the cover and then pull it off - they have small magnet mounts to keep them attached (see image). With other safes I have seen there is no external method to power the lock in case of a dead battery situation AND you don’t have access to the keys. This safe comes with an external battery pack that can be used as an extra fail safe measure. I will likely never have to use this technique but in a pinch I could see this design being very useful. The safe comes with integrated battery powered LEDs that activate once the code is input that dimly illuminates each of the cavities - I thought it was kind of a nice touch. Things to consider: The safe has mounting holes on the back side of the safe that are covered by felt. You can easily punch through those and mount the safe against a wall. The only concern you may run into is the spacing between the holes - typical american framing is 16” on center. This safe has mounting holes spaced 9 ⅜” apart. So if you’re mounting it to concrete, brick, or solid wood, then it’s not an issue, but you may need a spanning board if you want to mount it in a typical American house. The safe doors are heavy enough that with an empty safe and both doors open - if the safe is not mounted against a wall - it may tip forward a bit. Mounting this with one screw against a wall will prevent this. The internal shelves can be removed but cannot be adjusted. The shelves are made of fairly thin sheet metal, but would probably be strong enough to handle anything you can reasonably fit in the safe. The lock/unlock ring is made from plastic. This might produce a little heartburn for some, but it also might be considered a safety feature because the unlocking ring will certainly break before an intruder is able to leverage it against the lock. Either way, something to keep in mind when purchasing this safe. When I first used the safe, I found that the lock was not engaging on the top door. I removed the door cover on the back and discovered the locking pin was not quite reaching the locking bar assembly. I simply loosened that assembly and moved it in line with the locking bar assembly (see image). I presume it must have dropped slightly during shipping. Customer service was very responsive in helping me. This issue was not a major problem for me because it was a very simple fix, but still something to keep in mind when purchasing.

Great weight, space, material of the safe, easy instructions to follow to set up the pin, key for emergency’s if safe is out of battery’s for pin, and you need four double A batteries.

This is a beautiful and very sturdy safe. The directions are easy to follow and no issues with changing the code to a personal code. I have bought three others for my adult children from a different brand and I wish I would have purchased this one for them. I also will purchase two more for two other families.

I tried twice with this safe, the first on came in and the box was heavly damaged. I opened the top and found one of the top corners caved in even with the corner protector. Sent it back for a replacement. Received the replacement the box not as badly damaged, pulled the safe out of the box and started to check it out. Opened the top safe with the key and noted the look fells very cheap. The safe it's self is thin single wall metal it has two holes in the back and bottom to mount it with no way to block the unused holes off. Right there it is not fireproof or water proof. Went to open the bottom safe the key would not work, after a while of jiggling the key around I got it opened, lock felt very cheap. Looking at the construction of the safe I felt like I could get in it with a hammer and chisel with out even trying to go through the doors. Then when I layer it on its back I found that this one was damaged to, it had a Crack or separation on the bottom, no way is this fireproof. I feel that the advertising and pictures are misleading. There is no way this thing is fireproof. It made of thin metal with 4 holes in it, it no fire proof no way would it hold up to 1700 degrees for anytime at all and if it did go through any fire you documents inside would be vaporized to ash. They also claim you can store firearms in it, maybe but not legally. To legally store firearms the safe must be D.O.J. approved this safe is not. So I sent it back for a refund. I do not fell this safe is secure nor fireproof and worth $180. I just don't have anything good to say about it.

I could not have made a better choice! It arrived in perfect condition no dents ...nothing. It was easy to set the combinations... the batteries were a little bit hard to install but overall it is perfect and worth every penny!
