    • Good value for espresso machine but caveats
We've owned a variety of espresso machines: Saeco and Delonghi fully automatic and Calphalon semi. All keep moving up in price and none have lasted more than 2 years without major repairs or replacement. Our annual usage is in the range of 2000-2500 espressos annually. Our Calphalon is out for repair so I though I'd try an inexpensive Gevi for backup. First impression (October 2023) The machine, which has a solid feel to it, was easy to setup and brew our first espressos. The tank holds enough water for several espressos and can be easily refilled without removing the tank. The dual shot filter barely accommodates what has been a single shot in other machines. (We use a Breville grinder set for default single shot.) The tamper has a spoon at opposite end which makes it difficult to achieve the compact pack which we have found is essential to really good espresso. (Note that the Gevi instructions warn against a tight pack.) Warm-up and brewing is fast. The steam wand works well; however it has a flimsy feel which suggests it won't last long. Overall, this looks like an acceptable backup machine but unlikely to serve as a primary machine ... not a surprise at this price point.     • Replacement Sealing ring is hard to Find
The sealing ring, that they suggest is replaced every 6 months, is not standard. There are 3 notches in it witch makes an off brand replacement near impossible. I’ve only found it on the Gevi website. With shipping it’s $21!!! For comparison other sealing rings/ gaskets on Amazon run from 3-9 or so.

I have had this espresso machine for over a year and it works as well today as it did the day I bought it. I thought about upgrading, but I see no reason to spend 1k when this machine is more than enough. I use it several times a day too. It’s a work horse
