2 months in... It is hard to believe that you can buy a 20bar machine these days for this price point. Seriously, the shots I get from this machine are very similar and sometimes better (I dare say) than what I get at Starbucks, Peet's and other coffee chains. A lot has to do with the fact that I can choose my own beans and experiment with the various espresso making variables to my liking. Yes, this model comes with cheap accessories and omits important ones too. Be prepared to spend $50 to $100 if you want to get a decent tamper, funnil and leveler. The tamper/scoop combo included with the machine is made out of plastic. Yes, it is usable and you could technically survive using it long term... But honestly... If you take your espresso seriously, you will want to get a decent tamper that you can pre-measure. Look, I get it... The company had to cheap out somewhere to get the price of the machine right... And honestly, I'd rather them cheap out on the accessories than the machine. And no, they did not cheap out on the machine. Given the price point of the machine, it is very hard for me to fault the plastic tamper. It goes without saying that a good quality conical burr grinder is a key prerequisite to get good tasting shots. If you don't have one, I recommend the $99 Oxo burr grinder. It is the least expensive of the available good options out there. The setup is easy. You will need two hands to fit the 51mm portafilter given how small the machine is. Warm up is about 1 minute or less. Not too shabby for the price point. After playing around with the variables including the grind weight/volume and tamper weight, I have found that 17 grams of ground coffee (for 2 shots) pushed with roughly 25lb of weight produced the most desirable taste for me. With these variables set, the pressure meter goes a tad over half way but never gets to red. I read some other reviews where some prefer the pressure meter to hit the very edge of red... And that's ok... You find what you like best. Overall I am very happy with this little machine. I drink my espresso pure or with hot water. The machine makes very decent crema and I am very pleased with the taste. ... show more

    • Coffee tastes good. But i feel SCAMMED in many ways

This machine makes good coffee but my expectations of it were too high. The single shot portafilter wont even reach the blue pressure indications of the needle indicator. In many ways I feel scammed. I cannot speak of other espresso machines because I have not tried them. However if i could go back, i would go for a more establish3d and reputable brands: DeLonghi, Casa, etc. That have been on the market for years and years and should know better what they doing. So, I wanted to put it mildly, but when you say this is a SCAM then this is anything but putting it mildly. So coffee tastes good, machine is incredible fast. There are many good things. The issue with me is lack of honesty. It is a great machine, but it does not do many of the things is supposed to. I wasnt able to program for the shot volume, the single shot does not reach appropriate pressure,. The double shot portafilter reaches the appropriate pressure. For the price i paid is ok. Sorry i could not write a good review. ... show more

Been using it for a week now. I'm very happy and it pulls espresso! Hence the five star since the price is great. A few things to know tho: - Dont use it for tea, water comes out too slow, just have a kettle. - Cup heating on top is not useful as the machine goes to sleep. Just pre-heat cup with the water you pre-heat the group or something. Plus I wouldn't want a heating element on 24/7 anyway. Seems like a cafe feature. - Last but not least it comes with a pressureised portafilter. What the F is this? It messes up my shot and on top of that it has a double walled basket that traps water and i suppose some tiny coffee particles that are impossible to get out. I ordered new 51mm accessories which comes to about $50 total. Maybe you can get away with just basket then it's $10. Start shipping the machine with a standard basket at least! All and all it's a good device for the price. ... show more

I bought the Gevi after doing lots of research on 20 bar machines with a frother. The slim size and easy to use features make a great espresso or cappuccino every time. I highly recommend the suggested maintenance and cleaning the machine often for optimal results. But what REALLY impressed me was the customer service. After 9 months I had an issue with the frother and they sent me a part and detailed video instructions right away and it works like new again. For the price point this is a GREAT machine! ... show more
