    • Stiff and a little slick

I bought this to use for help with swing ups and inversion practice in pole vault training. I've only had a chance for myself to use it so far. It's a little stiff, but for this purpose, I think that might be better. The bottom end of the rope might get in the way if I don't raise it high enough. The metal loop on the top end is handy and I found that the stiffness allowed me to loop the rope through part way without it slipping all the way, at least with the small amount of use I put into it. The diameter should be fine for most of my vaulters, but the material is a little slick. Unless you have strong hands/grip it might be difficult to hang on without sliding down. My first use I ended up putting on my workshop gloves and that helped. The second time I used it, I went bare and I was able to grip strong enough to hold, but I didn't feel confident in my grip. It would be awesome of the shrink wrapped rubber at the very end were available higher up, its tackiness is easier to grip. I don't doubt this will suit my needs. ... show more

I am training to do more obstacle course runs. Everyone of them seem to have a rope climb. I use this to help me climb and strengthen my grip. I would recommend wearing gloves until your hands get use to climbing the rope while training.

    • NOT A CLIMBING ROPE!!!!

This Rope is advertised as a climbing rope but it is not ideal for climbing. Rope is too slick and stiff to climb and makes one more susceptible to rope burns. That is what happened to me on my left foot during my initial “test climb.” My kids like to climb the rope at their bjj/wrestling gym and noticed the difference immediately. They did not like the way it felt to climb either. I have been climbing ropes for 42 years now. Since my first rope that my dad tied to a mango tree at age 7, to climbing ropes in the Marines, CrossFit WODs and Spartan races since. I bought this to do back exercises, ie pull ups or rope climbs at home. The rope itself is pretty slick, and I can't get a firm purchase on it. My grip strength is good, not great, so your mileage may vary. They have one of these at my gym for tire pulls and that seems to be more of a proper application. I tied a couple knots in mine so I can get a handhold, but it still isn't great for what I'm trying to do. ... show more

    • Rope arrived frayed
I bought this rope for pulling sleds and climbing, especially since it comes with the metal connector loop on the end. I also bought it specifically because the description says it will not fray. However, my rope arrived frayed. As such I cannot give the item a better than 3 star rating. Flat out the item description is wrong. If you still buy this rope then I hope you don't get one that's already frayed but buyer beware. In any event, I've decided to keep the rope because it's not worth the hassle of returning it. I definitely won't be using it for climbing but I can still use it for pulling sleds, etc. I do also wish they made it in longer lengths.
