  • My favorite small knife (after a month)
Style: Paraframe Mini (Fine Edge)
I'm no knife expert. Definitely not a knife snob. I'm not using this knife for survival or defense...I hang it inside my pants pocket and use it to cut stuff. If that is how you plan to use it, I recommend that you give it a try. I really like this little knife. I wasn't sure if I would like it, but the ridiculously-low price enticed me to give it a try. After using it for a month, I wouldn't have been disappointed if it had cost a few bucks more. It came reasonably sharp (not shaving-sharp, but paper-slicing sharp) and has held that edge for the short time I have been using it. It is light. My cheap kitchen scale says it is 1.4oz or 40 grams, so it weighs about the same as $1.75 in quarters. For being so small and light, it feels quite solid to me. It opens smoothly and has no wiggle in the blade when locked open. It looks like it has a (nylon?) washer next to the blade to keep it snug and smooth. Hopefully that will last for a long time because I imagine the blade would wiggle a bit if that wore out. I saw several reviews that said it can't be opened and closed with one hand. I didn't find that to be true. It would be lot lot easier to open 1-handed if they added a thumb stud or extended the back of the blade, but I don't have a lot of trouble with it unless my fingers are slippery. In any case, I find it easy to close with one hand. Not always the case with lock blades. The one problem I have with this knife is the center hole on the side opposite of the clip is large enough to get a fingertip into when digging around in your pocket. It is POSSIBLE to nick your finger on the blade if you're not careful; not too likely, but possible. I find that clipping the knife inside my pocket at the top makes it easier to find and makes it less likely to nick my finger when feeling around in my pocket. I haven't actually cut myself yet, but buyers should be aware of that until Gerber changes the frame design. Overall, this has become my favorite small knife for everyday carry. I also carry the tiny Swiss Army Classic, but this knife is much better for cutting things more substantial than an apple. If you're on the fence, just give it a try (before they realize they could charge a few dollars more.) I'm buying another in case I lose this one. ... show more

  • Great Little Knife
Style: Paraframe Mini (Fine Edge)
Love these knives! I have used them daily for multiple years (I have lost a few on jobs 🤪) and they have always held up beautifully. This one or the tactical blade (which is probably my favorite) Super lightweight, fits great in the pocket without causing wear spots on the pants (nor your leg!) Easy to open and close and fits great in the hand. Super little knife for the price! ... show more

  • Very small and sharp
Style: Paraframe Mini (Fine Edge)
This is a really good little knife! It gives you the ability to have a very sharp and small knife that allows you to do all the classic knife things. I mostly used it to open boxes, but it was very good for that job! Unfortunately, because it is so small I lost it within about 2 weeks, but that is more of a me issue than a product issue. I recommend adding a little chain or some way to really attach it to your person more than the little clip. While the clip is really good, I was pulling out my keys from my pocket and the knife just flew out pretty easily with my keys. Overall, I would probably get this again just because it really holds its edge even going against cardboard! Good little knife! ... show more

  • Very good knife for the price
I found out about this knife after reading about this 33 day hike in Alaska: [...]. I noticed they had this knife and it looked cool so I found out what model it was and was surprised to find it was relatively cheap. Needing a new pocket knife, I ordered it! Here are my impressions: This knife feels very solid, and the blade is very sharp. When opened and locked in, the blade has very little side to side wiggle. The weight is perfect for a knife this size. Not too heavy but with enough weight to feel like it's well made. Downsides: (1) The smooth body of the knife is hard to get a good grip on when opening the blade. The finger impressions give you a fairly good grip after the blade is opened, but still the knife is very smooth with no texture. It really only affects me when opening one-handed. (2) Initially, the blade is *very* hard to flick out one handed. After a month of use it has loosened up a bit so it's easier now, no complaints. The knife has a retention pin that snaps into a depression on the blade when closed which helps it to not open accidentally - this is the cause of this. It just takes some use and it's not so stiff as brand new. Coming from the Kershaw assisted opener knives, I was initially a little disappointed that this knife wouldn't do the same but quickly figured out all it takes is a little flick of the wrist while pushing the blade out and it snaps out to full lock smartly. I prefer the smooth blade to the serrated blades for a couple reasons. Serrations are *much* harder to sharpen, if you do your own knife sharpening. Also, the serrations are in the spot on the blade you would use for carving or whittling, which makes the blade useless or extremely less than optimal for this purpose if it has them. Overall, good knife, I'll probably carry this thing every day until it breaks, if ever. Or I lose it, which unfortunately is what usually happens. ... show more
