I already retrofit all of my old florescent troffer lights with 4'x2' panels. To add some extra light into rental salon suites, I used Gentle Lion 2'×2' LED Flat Panel Lights (4 Pack). The lights are adjustable, which is nice, but the adjustments are semi-permanent, as they are made on the hardware directly. It's not really a problem, though... I dialed in 5000k color temp and 100% brightness. The light is good, but the CRI is not the best. When you're working with hair, it's really best if the CRI is 90%+. Regardless, my only real gripe about these lights is the price. At $230, these lights are significantly more expensive than other 2'x2', 4 packs on Amazon. I've evaluated and installed about a dozen of these off-shore panel lights over recent months. For about half of them I had to give one star because their wiring boxes were terribly unsafe. The least bit of a tug on an installed power line could easily expose 110 volts in ways you wouldn't want. These panel lights, in contrast, have a solid wiring box. I see no safety issues. One of my attached photos shows a light with a 16/3 pigtail I wired to it, and no reasonable tugging on the cord led to exposed wires inside the box. These lights offer three different brightness settings, rated at 30, 40 and 50 watts. They also offer three different coolness settings, from quite warm to quite cool. My second attached photo shows the two lights, one at highest brightness and most cool (5k), and the second at highest brightness, but at most warm (3k). It's likely the manufacturer is using newer LED strips that have alternating 5k and 3k LEDs mounted. The most cool setting turns on only the 5k LEDs, the warmest setting turns on only the 3k LEDs, and the middle setting blends the two at a lower intensity level. I expect we'll be seeing this technology in more home lighting products in coming months. The panels are well made. They're solid enough to withstand any stresses I anticipate for mounting and using in a drop ceiling. The light they produce is uniform across the diffuser. They meet my needs and will be going up into a drop ceiling I have in my basement in the next day or two. My only nit is they didn't have any wire nuts included. If you buy these you'll need a strain relief and a power cord for each fixture, which is typical, and three wire nuts. ... show more

These are great lights for the price. Easy to install and attractive flat panel LED fixtures. Just as easy and nice as Lithonia, Tamlite and other name brands. Color selectability is an awesome feature.
