    • Don't buy unless your splitting 1 inch logs or smaller.
I had quite a few 3-4 inch round pieces of wood to split and thought this would be good..... It's terrible. I could have literally used a dull ax and split the wood easier. I was using a full size 8 pound sledge hammer and it took about 20 hard strikes just to spilt one piece in half. Returned immediately. ... show more

After having used this firewood splitter for some time I can say that it is very well built and has some application, but falls short compared to the "hammer down style kindling splitters". This splitter is built extremely well, very solid steel, quality is top notch. Unfortunately when it comes to actually making kindling sticks with a small hammer it can be more difficult than others on the market. This splitter would be better situated at the end of a hydraulic splityer system or something like it, but as a unguarded single point of impact, it is hard to get kindling sticks of any substance without much fussing around with extremely seasoned wood with perfect grain. It could also be dangerous considering there is no guard like the more common kindling splitters protecting you from the sharp point after the log is either split or fallen over. Always make sure to fasten any splitter with bolts of some kind. Overall I would not recommend this to everyone unless you have a clear understanding of how this specialized kindling splitter would work in a press splitter, but as a hammer splitter I would steer clear. ... show more

Pros: Portable Design Efficient Safe Functional Cons: Limited to Small Logs & Kindling What I received in the package: 1 x GEIMRSY Firewood Splitter Style-C 6 x Screws 1 x Instruction Sheet This GEIMRSY Firewood Splitter Style-C product I ordered to test it on smaller wood logs and kindling. The tip or side angles are not sharp like a razor. But they do have penetrating ability. This is smaller than I expected. The point of the splitter spike is sturdy enough to pierce enough into the wood for it to stand on its own. But I would definitely advise controlling your splitting. In testing, this did well for smaller logs up to about 4” in diameter. The splitter really isn’t big enough to be efficient for larger logs. I used a hand hand sledge and it took minimal effort but did take some effort. Also, be sure not to hit too hard, as if your sledge hits the spike it could cause damage to the tools or injury to yourself. It works well for seasoned wood and kindling. Upon inspection after splitting about 20 logs into quarters. It showed some wear on the spike tip and abrasions in the paint. But the splitter was intact with no real structural issues and it made enough wood for our 3-4 hour fire tonight. It is easy to use and seems like it will work well and last for some time. NOTE: There is no safety ring or structure on this splitter. So please be careful not to impale your hand or arm as you split logs with this. While it is small ... it can still cause injury if you are not careful. I appreciate you taking the time to read this. All in all, I got this for our RV and our outside wood burning stove. This helps to make the pieces smaller and easier to feed. The splitter does its job and if you need a smaller, portable splitter … this is a nice option. Caveat - IMO this is only good for smaller logs and kindling. So if you need to split logs over say 4-5” … I would do some research. But under that .. this should work well.     • This is very sturdy, well made, something that will be around to pass down to your kids.
This is sturdy. Heavy, but not too heavy. It will withstand a good amount of beating. But I am not entirely sure of the best way to use this. Was not as simple and straight forward as I expected. I try to put the wood on the spike as in the pictures, but it does not stay there without some effort. It would don't get it balanced just right, then then hammer it on a bit, it just topples over. I am trying to split larger rounds so that I can use them and it seems more effort than just using a splitting mall. Smaller wood would work… but they are easier to just split. Dryer wood would work better, but they are easier to just split. Best I came up with is that if there is a really knotty piece, this will likely help. Once you split get the splitting mall in there a few time and loosen up the grain on one end, then the spike may sit better and help you out. I can also see this helping people who don't have a splitting mall, but do have a sledge hammer. Some of my more knotty pieces I thought to use this on were actually easier to split than I thought Once I got to them. I keep looking for a good use for this. I think this will be just what I need in some situation. Oh, if you get one, at first I did not think they included the screws, which is fine for me, but then found them taped to the back side of some of the cardboard when I was going to recycle it. First off, this arrived perfectly packaged. For a heavy steel sharp item, they pack it right. No holes in the box. Then I dropped it, point down, on my driveway, didn't bend, still sharp. I'm pleased with it.
