Update: The unit still cools well but does make some weird noises. The other issue is that stupid ECO setting. It defaults to that and auto like it's freaking fly paper. Gets stuck on it and you have to manually go over to the face of the unit and undo those. Really ticks me off as the ECO can only work at night when the temps are lower and the unit has a slim chance of keeping the room cool. The remote is almost useless 4 ft away. That bubble in the center panel is starting to really grind my gears. LOL The quiet function is over hyped too. Unless you set it on eco. That's like telling a customer this car is whisper quiet and never starting the engine. Smooth move GE doesn't work here. It's about the same as my old unit an LG and using an amp or two less. So I'm happy with that portion. Only had the unit two days now. Installation was pretty simple with the unit only weight roughly 65 lbs. It's about as quiet as our old LG unit it replaced. Which is pretty good on Low. Don't care one bit about the remote control unless the reason for the 1 star above happens to you. Quality control missed this one completely. The front stick on label for the controls is bubbled up in the middle. Yea this is not a peel off protective strip either. This "IS" the control panel label itself. It is smack in the middle and trying to press it back down it will not stay. Causes a ripple if you attempt to glue it down. It is not placed correctly. Faulty out the box. The A/C unit runs and cools but the clean filter light won’t stop blinking. I’ve cleaned the new filter but that hasn’t made any difference. The remote only partially works, it won’t shut off the display lights on the unit and it’s amazing how bright those lights are when you’re trying to sleep. Customer service said they would send a replacement filter and a new remote; three weeks later I’m still waiting. They also tout this unit as being quiet. It’s noticeably louder than the unit it replaced. Great white noise for sleeping but I wouldn’t like to try and carry on a conversation or listen to TV in a room with this air conditioner running. ... show more

This unit is ultra quiet. It runs as low as around 40-44 dB thanks to the inverter technology, which adjusts the compressor speed smoothly instead of blasting on and off. I can watch TV or sleep in the next room without noticing it much — it's noticeably quieter than my old traditional 12,000 BTU unit. It has a high CEER rating (around 15+ in similar models), it uses way less electricity than standard ACs. I've seen real savings on my bills during hot Florida summers, especially in Eco Mode where it intelligently cycles to maintain temperature. It handles up to 550 sq ft easily. Even on 95°F+ days, it cools the room quickly and keeps it steady without short-cycling. I didn't try out any of the "smart" features that this AC has because I normally don't with any of my appliances - so I can't speak to those features and how they function. I don't purchase appliances for the smart features. This is the first inverter AC that I've used, every one I've used in the past was a regular window AC. Although this inverter air conditioner is more expensive than a traditional window AC, the increased cost is absolutely worth it. Even at 12000 BTU, this AC was the smallest and lightest unit I've owned. About the size of a traditional AC with half or less the BTU rating. It was shockingly light, and I was able to lift it on my own. I had a 2nd person helping to install it, however, I could have done it myself if needed - and I'm smaller. It comes with fins and accordion wings as expected for various fits. It should work with most windows. 12000 BTU is easily enough for my whole house (~1000sqft), but I don't like it super cold in the house. The AC was simple to use and was ice cold almost immediately. It doesn't click on or off, but rather ramps up and down slowly, so the compressor noise is almost unnoticeable. Much quieter overall than older AC. Cools much faster and more evenly than traditional units. At 1060Watts, it requires a 10A circuit (dedicated) or higher. It has a 15 seer rating which is a little higher efficiency than average, but not the highest. This is a pretty impressive AC unit and it's worth the extra cost for the smaller size and lower noise. ... show more

The air conditioner is nice, but the remotes are horrible. I bought two air conditioners and the remotes are the worst i have seen. They aren’t responsive and hesitate. It makes me angry since these are not cheap prices.

I was a bit skeptical when I opened the box. It's a 12.000 BTU/h air conditioner but it's 1/3 smaller than an average window-type air conditioner and EXTREMELY lighter. I can even say it's just a little bit bigger than a 5k btu air conditioner. Installation was a breeze, so lightweight it is. I did it myself in LITERALLY under 15 minutes. Only one negative point, it looks way more fragile than my older air conditioner, GE could have improved a bit on that. It looks modern, but fragile. Cooling power/speed didn't impress or caused a bad impression as it replaced.another 12.000 BTU/h air conditioner, but it was really impressive to notice how the operation is much smarter thanks to the inverter technology. On "auto" it doesn't just turn off when the temp is reached and on when the temp raises above the set temp, like one would expect from.any ordinary air conditioner, it is kinda modular, ir goes changing the fan speed and we don't hear the compressor "kicking in". It is way smoother, gradually speeding up the fan motor as needed, saving a ton of electricity and reducing noise. It has a "quiet" button. That one really shocked me, I was like "is this thing really on and running?" I had to stand and walk closer to it to notice it was, in fact, blowing a super cold air. It was literally so silent I had to stand in front of the air conditioner and feel the cold air to believe it was running, because it sounded like it was completely off. GE did a good job in terms of adding convenience to installation, energy efficiency, noise reduction and smart features.
