Used this as a demo for my students to rebuild. After tearing it down and putting it back together 3 times (using the same parts gaskets etc). I decided to do a demo on throwing a rod. Knowing the governor is set to 3000RPM. We adjusted it probably 500RPM past that and sent it. Lasted 15 minutes with no issues. Bypassed the governor completely and ran it at 4500 +\- 500RPM for another 10 minutes. Still no failure. Ran it with no oil and no governor and it still did not die.

its ok engine but I had to grinde the crankshaft on the lathe to get it to American units. And it blowed up after maybe 3 hours on it. It sucked in a piece of the head casting and jacked up the valves and the pison. I filed down the piston, head and lapped the crap out of the valves with a drill press and it still runs perfect after another 5 hours. When I had the whole thing apart and all the diameters are good probably within tenths. but there probably .100 of play in the side-to side of the connecting rod and rocker arms though that's bad. The cam bearings had really bad gouges from the reamer when they manufactured it too. crankshaft has ball bearing though.

All the videos on these Chinese yanmar clones recommend complete disassembly and inspection. I did that but it would not have been necessary. Everything was torqued properly. The tablespoon or so of oil remaining in the crankcase was full of metal but that is to be expected from a new motor ( they run tested it). Put a magnet on the drain plug and do a proper unloaded break in and you should be good. In all reality design for 2.75 horsepower at about 2800 rpm and this thing will likely last forever. Run it faster and it wont.

I used this for a powerwasher. It’s a good engine with a few quirks one is the driveshaft is 20mm not 3/4 so I had to file it down also the exhaust spins sometimes other than that it’s been great. I used shell 15-40 diesel oil. Used a few hours so far
