Installing didn’t take very long. Alignment is a little tricky but once this 100+ degree weather drops I’ll close the gap and tighten it down more to keep water out. Slides open and closed very easily.

So, the install takes much longer than expected, and the final product is..... questionable. We purchased in October 2020 and just installed over the holidays. We were expecting a more durable product, a more reliable customer service, and a more seamless installation. Assembly: When assembling, be very careful to not tighten the cheap, crappy, plastic white screws that come with the product (that are used to fasten the siderails to the edge of the truck) as much as you feel you might want to tighten them (to get a more secure attachment of the rails to your truck bed). If you tighten a hair too much, the screws will strip out, and then good luck getting replacement screws. The don't sell them at Home Depot, Lowes, and they aren't covered under the manufacturer's warranty, and we when attempted chatting the online person told us to "call sales" which has a 2 hour wait time on the phone. Incredibly infuriating and frustrating is an understatement. The company must have taken a turn for the worst over recent months, because it seemed they used to provide decent customer service. Suffice to say: This is our first Gator Cover, and our Last Gator Cover. Seals: the side seals are great, and the seal is very good around the front of the bed (near the cab of the truck). It seems very water-tight. The seal at the back of the truck bed is worthless though - rain, water, snow- there's at least 2mm of gap in between the back of our bed cover and the tailgate. Of course if you're parked on an incline, all the water and precipitation that leaks in will seep into the back of your truck. Customer Service: As described above, it seems Gator has taken a turn for the worst. Perhaps they have too many issues with post-Christmas installs and returns, but our experience is downright horrible. The phone call says a 2-hour wait. The online representative (through their website chat function) was disrespectful and the opposite of helpful. ... show more

    • Easy install and great looking

I removed my old cover and installed the new one in about 2 hours. It was pretty simple just follow the instructions closely and pay attention to which way you put the nuts in the rail for the clamps. I found it easier to start the rail clamp nuts before sliding them rails. I had seen some complaints about the holes in the rail not lining up with the canister but if you slightly lift the canister and slide the rail in fully it’s not an issue. Haven’t had much of a chance to see how weather proof it is yet but it does seem to be fairly well sealed. The retractable function is more of an assist than an auto retract so it’s not going to slam open when you pop the latch you do have to push it to get it to move but it’s super easy to operate and has a great profile. ... show more

Nice for the money. I couldn’t get it perfect against tailgate to make it water tight. If the truck is at the wrong angle lots of water could come in. But for our application it is great and easy to use.

This was a perfect fit for my '23 F-150 6.5' bed. Easy to install. Easy to open and close. Will need periodic adjustments at the tailgate to keep water from getting in. Securely latches at the set positions. Nice ridgid cover! Like it very much.

Installs ok but it is just resting on the bed rails. It only comes with 4 clamps (should have 6). The rear clamps barely reach and tilt the track when you try to tighten. The middle is just sitting on the bed rails and is not heavy enough to compress the super thin weatherstrip. The cover also sags in the middle. It is 1/2” lower in the middle at the tailgate. We will see how it actually holds up to snow. I’m going to try to reach gator and see if I can get a couple more clamps for the middle of the rails. Not a $950 cover in my opinion. ... show more

Owned by Realtruck.com I am telling you customer support is on point. Even 6 years later they replaced the rear seal on it for free & shipping. Friendly and you talk to a real person. I've loved this tailgate cover since i've had it. No discoloration unless you let water sit on top of it for along time and it dries up. but i had a slight white ring after about 3 years, i just put vinegar on it and its gone. ... show more

    • Absolutely JUNK with no customer support

I installed this cover with zero ease. The hardware holding the tracks, stops, etc flexed inside the track and would not work. To tighten in place you either have to hold pliers on the outer portion of the track the head of the bolt slides into or wedge something into the track to keep the bolt head from spinning. It’s a real pain to do. After getting it to work the stops will not stay in place. Bolts constantly come loose. I ran the cover for 3-4 months and started noticing not only my tailgate wouldn’t close but also the cover will not roll completely into the box. Working out of a PACKOUT system makes it very difficult when the cover will not roll all the way up. Adjustments on the tracks sitting on bed rails will not stay either. Contacted the company and instead of answering my questions on adjustments and suggesting proper hardware they want me to fill out multiple forms, take additional photos(sent with first inquiry) and file a warranty claim. Just to get adjustment suggestions and some hardware? I replied and told them I’d rather throw the cover in the trash then go thru the headache of a warranty claim. They promptly closed the claim and emailed saying “Thank you for letting us resolve your warranty issue”. After waiting days for a reply, they were very quick to close their inquiry! Spend an extra couple hundred bucks and go to a quality cover, DON’T WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY! ... show more
