When I first bought this Gator EFX tri-fold cover for my 2021 Silverado I was happy with it. The install went smooth, the fit was right on, and it gave the truck a nice sleek look. I even rated it 5 stars in the beginning because it seemed solid and well made. For a while I honestly thought I had made the perfect choice. Fast forward and now it’s a completely different story. The screws started coming loose and falling out, which should never happen on something like this. Then the pull strings that are supposed to open the cover stopped working. That basically makes the whole thing useless since you can’t even open it properly. What really frustrates me is that this truck bed cover has barely been used. I don’t open my tailgate all that often, so there’s no excuse for it to wear out this fast. It feels like this cover was made more for looks than actual use. Sure, it still looks good sitting on the truck, but what good is that if it can’t even function the way it’s supposed to? When you buy a hard tri-fold cover you expect durability and reliability, not for it to fall apart after minimal use. I was expecting a product that could hold up for years and actually protect my truck bed. Instead it’s been a waste of money. Really disappointing experience. If all you want is something that looks nice in the driveway, maybe it’s fine. But if you need a tonneau cover that actually works and lasts, I would recommend looking at something else. ... show more

Quality seems solid overall. Rail systems are simple and fairly easy to install. The design isnt perfect for these Silverados. The clamp nearest the tailgate cannot be mounted close enough to the end leaving a little play in the rail. This can make the locking functionality difficult. I would add those cork pad strips they give you to these areas and it will help. Not sure how it will do long term but I was able to get it working as designed. Same issue with the water management tubes. Clamps are too close to allow easy install. The weight is light enough for one person to install. Its easy to clean and looks great. The design is easy to install, looks sleek and great and keeps items secure in your bed and out of site. However, the cover is not 100% water resistant you will still have some leaks and water that will get inside. I put our bags on a couple 2x4s and then rolled out a tarp to protect from any drips, and the boards kept luggage from getting wet on bottom from drips. We spent 2 days driving in full torrential downpour and while water got in the cover stopped 95% of the rain, no issues and not tarp flopping and banging around. American made was very important to me. I had my concerns after reading the reviews, but I thought why not order it. If it isn't acceptable it goes back and all I'm out is a little of my time. It arrived well packaged, it would take quite a bit to damage the contents. I watched the installation video and read the instructions before I even took the parts out of the box. I did not drill through the truck bed there were two plugs in the front box wall, so I routed the drain lines through the openings so the lines were up high in the box and the chance of damaging the drains would be extremely low. I recommend this top and a word of advise just take your time installing it. Thanks Dennie ... show more

Great buy. The only thing that would be better was if they had paper instructions with it. Had a barcode to scan for instructions but when I put in the part number it says it was not found. I had put one together before so I knew how to do it. I called the company and they sent me instructions but I had a couple of extra parts and it didn’t say what to do with them. **4 Year Update** - I have had to come back and do an edit of my review(original below) due to several issues I have had with the cover. 1st - I have had to replace the seals on both sides numerous times(all purchased via realtruck who now owns Gator) as the continue to crack where the panels fold. This is costly and honestly annoying. I just replaced the seals 4 months ago and there are cracks on both sides where the 1st panel opens. I really shouldn't have had to replace these seals like this. 2nd - the screws that hold the locking hubs in place all fell out, well 3 out of 4 on both sides fell out. I had to go back in with a bit longer screws and lock-tight for them to hold. Overall I am really disappointed with this cover. The panels look great after all these years but the seals are garbage. Might want to look at something else. I know I am. This is a very solid and great looking hard tri-fold tonneau cover. I had a soft tri-fold but wanted the extra security of a hard folding cover. Installation - was very easy to do by myself with a few tools. If you have a partner handy it can go faster. Especially when it comes to mounting the cover into the rails. My dad happened to come by and helped with centering the cover. 9/10 Looks - this is a great looking cover. Sits flush with the bed rail caps with only the weather stripping sitting higher. 10/10 Function - works great, you have 2 levers you pull to open the first 2 panels, so technically you could only have the last 1/3rd panel open and still secured items in the bed. There are water drains built into the mounting rails with drainage hoses that run to the factory plugs. Over all does a great job 9/10 Only Con I had was some of the ends of the weather stripping would not stay down so I added some extra double sider stickey tape(Alien Tape) and it's been holding strong since. **Note** if you have yet to seal your tailgate rain can still get in. I purchased the ESI Ultimate Tailgate Seal and that with this Gator cover make the whole package. I am not affiliated nor have I been paid for this review or recommendation. The installation instructions are a bit vague but I was able to get it installed in less than 20 minutes. Dependent on your bed you won’t need the bulk head seal or the clamp spacers. The lock downs for the 1st third come with lock washers which should prevent then from loosening but the 6 side rail clamps do not. The drain hoses are to short for the new style GMC but not a deal breaker. With the amount of play in the side rails you can adjust depth very easily but in order to get the tailgate seal to fit properly the rails need to be set flush with the bed.
