I purchased this for a back bedroom that gets hit buy the afternoon sun. It is larger than the old 5,000BTU window unit I had. We have central air but this home is older and this back room warms up a lot in the summer. It is our master bedroom. So I turn the A/C for the house way up to 78 or 80 at night and turn this one on when we go to bed. It has lowered our light bill and we stay really cool to even too cold if we desire. This unit seems to be great. I would buy again. Easy to set up and not too loud. It would easily cool a living area / dining area being that it is 14,000 BTU. Garvee 8000 BTUs Portable Air Conditioners,350 Sq.Ft. Ceer 6.2,DOE 5K BTUs Lightweight at about 45 lbs, so it’s easy to carry upstairs or move around as needed. I waited about 24 hours after delivery before starting it to let everything settle. When I turned it on, my room was around 75°F (with central A/C running) and about 90°F outside, and it was blowing roughly 50°F air almost immediately. The exhaust hose is flimsier than other brands I’ve used, so I’d avoid flexing it too much. I ended up adapting my old hose that was already set up in an insulated window frame, connecting it to the included hose and sealing it with flex tape. I also wrapped the hose with insulation, which helps keep heat from radiating back into the room which is something portable A/Cs can struggle with. The included connector just slides into place and can slip out if the unit moves, so I taped that as well. I do wish it used a more standard exhaust connection. The power cord is also a bit shorter than my previous unit, so placement took some planning. I have casement windows, so I didn’t use the included vent sliders which won't work for my windows anyway, but they look adequate if only thinner than others I’ve seen. Don’t expect a portable air conditioner to be quiet. If you’re comfortable with white noise, the sound likely won’t bother you. However, if you need near-total silence to sleep, a portable A/C may not be a good fit, since all of its components including the compressor and condenser are located in the room with you. That said, this unit is no louder than any other brand I’ve used. I’m using this in a 13×13 bedroom at night so I don’t have to lower the central A/C. For $160, it’s a solid option for cooling a single room. The 8,000 BTU rating isn’t meant for large spaces, but it does the job well in a closed-off room. I bought one of these units in early July to replace an old and ailing A/C window unit in my office. It had been installed in a hole cut into one wall, through a brick outside wall. I unboxed the item and it sat in my office for about 6 weeks before I could get help removing the old unit and closing up most of the hole, mounting the exhaust hose in a hole cut to size. It worked very well for about two weeks, cooling my office with relative ease. Then, one day, it did not. It just worked as a fan, blowing hot air around. I contacted the support email address listed in the documentation. I received a "form letter" email asking to provide more information. I responded immediately and got another email from "Princess" in their Support Dep't. informing me that someone would get back to me within a few days. Hearing nothing from them, I replied indicating that I thought their support was inadequate and unresponsive. That, now, has been over 5 days ago and ... crickets. Nothing. I can only assume they do not care, or have so many defective products to deal with that they are overwhelmed. I couldn't wait for them, my office gets quite hot (Memphis in summer with a roomful of electronic devices), so I bought another brand and replaced it. Replacement is working well. If/when I ever manage to get the defective unit repaired/replaced, I will keep it for a backup or maybe sell it. Not a chance in Hades will I purchase this brand again. I can understand premature failure. It happens. But to totally ignore a request for support is not good business practice! ... show more

So far it’s been a good purchase, but is a little louder than expected at first. It has different phases where it louder than others and the longer it runs the more used to it you get but there are some rattles and buzzing sounds that might keep me up if in a bedroom but luckily it’s just in my office/lounge area so works very well for that. The plastic guide for window isn’t the best but I added some rubber foaming to the bottom of window and the plastic and it stays much better than it did before. It’s also sealed much better this way - as it popped out of the window at least once prior to adding it. I used the tape from the product to help seal the gaps and should probably use masking tape to help with that as well. Airflow is good and it cools quickly - was easy to setup beyond the window frame connection. It’s a little heavier and larger than expected too but doesn’t feel cheap. ... show more

I have had this air conditioner for less then a month. It is preforming as I expected keeping the room nice and cool. Arrived in perfect condition. Was very easy to install. I have the sliding back and forth type windows and it was easy to adjust the plastic piece to fit the window. I have no complaints with the noise level. One of the features that I am very happy with is it has a drain hole in the middle back of the unit. I place the drain hose there and placed the hose in a bucket. So far nothing has gotten on the floor. I empty the bucket once a day. (My old one I had to put on a milk crate, as the hole was at the bottom) I do however live in a very humid climate. This unit has no problem taking the humidly out of the room.. I highly recommend. ... show more

So far, I’m pretty impressed. I needed it for my room in this heat wave, as my other unit doesn’t reach the back of the house. This unit easily cools my room and bathroom, as well as the hallway, office and other bathroom. Shipping took a little while longer than I had hoped it would, but they still delivered it a day ahead of schedule, so no complaints there, it’s summer it was probably back ordered. I’ve seen other reviewers whining about it being loud, it’s not. It sounds like a regular larger AC. You’ll get over it. Its footprint isn’t inconvenient either, it is larger than units I’ve had in the past, but I wanted something with power, and this delivers. so far it seems to be reliable. ... show more
