  • Poor quality in parts
Yes it gives a decent amount of air but the parts are cheap and they keep falling apart. I am sitting here putting tape around the tube because my child is asleep and I dont want to wake her but the tube keeps coming out of the window. The manufacturer clearly tried to save a few dollars and failed to give us a product that can be secured when put together....oh and by the way, of your window just so happens to be up and down, it doesn't fit. No problem because it comes with the extra piece THAT IS TOO LONG AND REQUIRES YOU TO HAVE A SAW TO USE IT. Who makes a product that requires you to have a saw when assembling. I bought 2 of these. Thank God one is still in the box. RETURN!!!! ... show more

  • Cools well..but exhaust tube is poor design.
Cools a small room...but design of the exhaust is subpar. The exhaust is very hot and system comes with tube to attach to window, but the tube will not stay on. Stayed the first day..then tried to move system gently and exhaust tube came off. Only used it a few times so far but keep having to reattach exhaust tube with electric tape just for it to stay on. ... show more

  • Works very well
Well I decided to try out this machine to see if all the negative comments were correct. So far the build quality seems fine. Hose attachment is rather cheaply made, not as thick and sturdy as other aftermarket hoses. Heat does seep out however with a thermal cover on the hose, it already made the whole thing far more efficient and gives it a sense of re-enforcement. Setup was quick and easy. Noise factor, it isn't as quiet as expected but its still a tolerable level which isnt bothersome to me. Features are pretty basic, I do like the swing option which allows the fan to swivel. Cooling actual works very well. I have it set up in a 20x24 outdoor room which is constantly bombarded by direct sunlight. Reduces the temp overall by 15°F if not more which my last unit had issues even trying to keep up. Far better than expected. It does push out a lot of water from the condenser. It has an auto-evap feature and have been running it daily. I have tried the secondary drainage feature which can push out a liter of water in about 2 hours. Long as you got a proper reservoir like a bucket or container, the water issue shouldn't be a real problem. Overall I give it a 8.5 Think folks have been getting defective units or have been tossed around by the shipping company which could damage it. So far no major issues, not bad for its price. ... show more

  • Not worth the money
The unit does not cool a space down since the exhaust hose pulls so much air from the room. Buy a double hose unit if you are looking for efficiency. After running this for a week, it does not cool a room down, since it is pulling in warm air from other places to satisfy the exhaust system.

  • I REALLY wanted to give this a great review.
Some people love this portable AC while others hate them. I'll let YOU decide. Let me start by saying that if you're desperate for cooling and you cannot at least use a window AC, this is what you'll want to use. It's inexpensive, relatively quiet and it is 'portable'. I actually really like this unit a lot, but only for use while the power is out and I'm running on either my Bluetti or gas generator. For this ONE purpose it is great! I can run this unit for at least 5 hours (on the Bluetti) with the temp set at 84 degrees during a Florida summer evening. (I've done the tests and hope to post a video of it on YouTube. In my particular situation, I have a house AC and it works great. The issue I have is that my office can be dramatically warmer than the rest of the house because of all the equipment in it. The office is at the front of my house so having a tacky window unit sticking out the window is NOT going to happen. So, I decided to get this to see if I could just focus on using this unit in order to prevent the house AC from cooling the rest of the house than what was needed. Here is where I ran into my issues. These 'single hose' units are NOT efficient in any way and in my case, it was WORSE than just cooling the rest of my house too much. In reality, these single hose portable ACs create negative pressure when running (as it sucks air from inside the house to blow out the other end of the exhaust hose). This means that THAT air has to come from inside the house through leaks in the house or most likely from your bathroom exhaust fans (if you have them). In short, hot air from somewhere is coming into your house and heating up those locations. While this is bad, it gets even worse. Outside air (hot or cold) can still come into your room even when the unit is off. Example, if it is a windy day, outside air can still travel through the exhaust hose (into the unit) and then through the vents in the AC. They do have little louvers for the vent where the cool air exits (which helps a bit) but there are no louvers on the air intake vents. What this means is that on a hot summer day, hot air is making it's way through the unit and into the room you want to keep cool, even while not using it. i STRONGLY advise that if you are a looking for a permanent solution and you cannot use a window AC or add something like a split-unit AC to where you live, PLEASE spend the extra money and get a until that has dual hoses. These allow the air to come in from the outside, pass through the coils, and then right back outside. Yes, they are bigger, more expensive, and now have 2 giant hoses, but at least you won't have to worry about all that hot air seeping into your room (when off) or being sucked into the building (when running). I am torn between giving this either 2 or 3 stars (or maybe even 5 stars as it's perfect for running on a backup generator), but the reality is that there is a considerable amount of warm air coming into my room when this unit is off. This is not a reflection of the brand (Garvee) as I really like the features that is included, especially for the price. This hot air leakage is pretty much standard for all of these units and I don't know of any units that completely seal themselves while not in use. I will be keeping this unit and it will be completely disconnected from the outside and only used in emergencies when I am running on backup power. I hope this review provides you with helpful insights as to whether this is good for your needs. ... show more

  • Well Worth the Purchase
Great little portable/wheeled air conditioning unit! My single car garage is fully enclosed, so I vent the A/C and run the condensation drip hose through the cat door on the rear outdoor exit. I thought it wouldn't power up until I realized there is a circuit breaker button on the plug. The instructions are simple. Setup was easy. As long as I fire it up early in the morning, it does a great job combating the oppressive Arizona desert heat when it builds later in the day. I've owned this A/C unit for two weeks and have used it twice. Curious to see how long it lasts. So far, it's a great buy for what I paid (roughly $150 plus tax and shipping, August 2026). ... show more

  • Ugh. Knock knock.
I had high hopes for the Garvee air-conditioning unit, but unfortunately, it was a big disappointment. Just like other reviews mentioned, it started making loud knocking and rattling noises right from the first use. We tried unplugging and plugging it back in to see if that would solve the problem, but nothing helped. The constant noise made it impossible to use, and in the end, I had to send it back. Very frustrating experience. ... show more
