  • Does the job
I have had this for about 5 years and it works great

  • Questionable quality control
Size: No Lever Color: Black
Quality control not the best, a few of the nuts were faulty. Pulled a diesel engine, about 900lbs and the castor wheels bent right over, now it won’t roll. Disappointing for a 2 ton rated hoist that fails at less than a 1/2 ton. It got the engine out but now I need to replace the castor wheels. The tubes were also filled with little shot probably used in the painting process. ... show more

  • Versatile Engine Leveler That Earned Its Keep on More Than Just Engines
This worked awesome for lifting an engine, which is exactly what you'd expect it to do, but it ended up proving useful for more than that. I also used it to lift and reposition a heavy granite gas fire pit, and it handled that job just as well. The leveler is easy to use and makes it simple to adjust the balance point while a load is suspended. The included chains and multiple mounting holes add a lot of flexibility, making it easy to adapt to different lifting situations. Whether you're pulling an engine, installing one, or moving other awkward heavy objects, it gives you much more control than a basic chain setup. Everything feels solid and confidence-inspiring, and the rated capacity should be more than enough for most automotive and workshop projects. Bottom line (Would I recommend it?) Absolutely. It's well made, easy to use, and proved useful for far more than just engine work. Add in the reasonable price, and this is an easy 5-star tool for any garage or workshop ... show more

  • Made pulling and replacing the Big-Block V8s in our boat much easier and safer.
I ordered this because we are replacing two inboard V8 engines in a boat. We have a ceiling-mounted chain hoist to do the heavy lifting. But we also need some control over the angle to wrestle these big engines out and back in a pretty tight space. We pulled the port engine before this item arrived. It was a real pain, and I pinched a few fingers in the process. Using this tool and its angle adjustment made things so much easier and safer. It appears to be built pretty well for the money, and it handled our big-block engines without any complaints. Would buy it again. ... show more

  • Smooth angle adjustment for engine removal and installation
I picked up this Garvee 1500 lb engine leveler for engine removal and installation. I have only bench tested it so far, but I can see how useful it will be when pulling a motor. Performance & Design Notes: Smooth Angle Adjustment: The rotation mechanism works smoothly, allowing you to tilt the engine and shift its center of gravity while hanging from a crane. Safer Engine Handling: Adjusting the angle on the fly will make removing and installing engines easier and safer compared to using static chains. Useful for Marine & Automotive Work: This would have been helpful for past jobs like removing and installing Mercruiser engines and WaveRunner engines where clearance and angle are tight. 1500 lbs Capacity: Built with a heavy-duty frame to support larger engine assemblies during pulls. Verdict: A functional engine leveler with smooth adjustment that makes angling motors during removal or installation much easier. ... show more

  • The ball bearing handle turns so smooth
If you are not familiar with Amazon Vine, it is basically Amazon trading free* products for honest reviews. I do my best to make my reviews honest, real and value-oriented as if I had paid for each item I receive. * These items are not totally free as Vine members pay income tax on the items they receive. I only mention this because we Viners do have some skin in the game for each item we order. Why I ordered this item: I'm pulling the engine out of my old Camaro and my cheap leveler snapped the chain last time I tried to use it. I needed something that could handle the weight without being sketchy about it. Likes: * This thing is built like a tank. The steel is thick and the welds look great. I can tell this isn't going to bend or break when I'm hanging an engine from it. * The ball bearing handle is stupid good. Once you get some weight on it, the handle turns so smooth compared to my old one that would fight you every inch. * Having three different chain positions is super helpful. I was able to get my small block balanced perfectly by using the middle and outer holes. My engine sits level instead of tilting forward like it did with my old leveler. * Assembly took me maybe 20 minutes with basic tools. The instructions were clear and all the bolts went in easy. * The powder coating looks really good. It's thick and even, and I can see this holding up to shop use without getting all rusty. No likes: * The handle extension makes this thing pretty long when you're trying to store it. It takes up more space in my garage than I'd like. * It's heavy as hell. Moving this around the shop by yourself is kind of a pain. Would I pay full price for this product: Yes Final thoughts: The steel frame doesn't flex at all even with my 350 hanging from it. The build quality is way better than the cheap ones and it's worth paying more for something that won't fail when you need it most. ... show more

  • Clean before using!!!
Size: No Lever Color: Black
You get what you pay for. As expected it came with low quality hardware and had hole alignments issues. I was surprised when unpacking and steel shot from media blasting dumped out everywhere. Make sure you clean it thoroughly before using, you don’t want that getting into your new engine.
