You do have to install it into your window, and due to my window having a unique size we had to cut down the install panel to fit. Once installed it’s extremely easy to use. So far, very happy with this purchase. Cools down my livingroom and dinning area. Only 2 things to mention. Noise level.....it is acceptable for a 14000 BTU unit. I wish it came with a child lock. Like a lot of units, there are control buttons on the top. My cats jump up there and can turn it off/on, change the temp. Let me also mention when I plugged it in, nothing happened. I had to push the button on the plug (GFI). Still nothing happened. The directions said the first time you use it, it takes 3-5 mins. for the compressor to kick in. It started up just fine. It really a good unit for the price.

Does an okay job at 73 degrees. Any temp higher doesn’t feel cool enough. Wouldn’t buy again. Them I received an email from the manufacturer offering a $150 credit and wanted my banking information- are you kidding me! Terrible

First time experience with a portable A/C. My wibdow unit broke and at this time there is noone available to assist with removal and installing another so I decided to try this. It is very easy to set up and take out of the window. The air coming out of it is ice cold but it doesn't cool the room down as effectively as a window unit. Possibly because the unit creates its own heat from the motor. Parts of it are understandably warm. The hose also gets very warm. But it still cools the room and I sleep comfortably-which was the goal! It makes noise as expected but is not excessively load. I use earplugs all the time anyway as the 11 lanes of nonstop Gowanus Expressway traffic create unbearable decibels of sound even withe windows closed. One thing that did upset me is the window pieces. The second piece is far too long for my 29in wide window. There should be a smaller second piece. To expect people to cut metal to fit the window is a safety issue. I have neither the tools or knowledge to complete such a task. I ended up turning that second piece around and sliding it in to create a seal for the exposed window part. It does not block the hose. I was so grateful to God to be able to do this or else the a/c would have been useless to me. I live in Brooklyn NY-notoriously hot and humid. I have not had to drain any water yet. I only use the cool setting. Overall I am grateful to have this a/c. It provides the coolness i need to sleep, the remote is great, as is the swing setting for the airflow. I can move it around easily and pop it out of the window when not in use and have access to my window.

I purchased this air conditioner on Amazon a couple weeks ago and it's been dollar. I found an easy fix if you have a tall lip on the bottom of your window where the window slides down into, when you put the exhaust into the attachment that goes to the window it doesn't work correctly so I use some bubble rap and raised that plate that the exhaust attaches into so that I can also close the window and it raises the exhaust up high enough. The reason I purchased this was so that I can adjust the output away from me so it's not blowing cold air on my legs. The window is next to my couch so any window air conditioner I put in there will blow cold air on my legs as I watch tv. Anyway, the air conditioner works really well and cools down the upstairs pretty good. Please excuse the dirty windowsill in the picture. One more thing, is I put the water drain into a bucket behind the air conditioner but I have to remember to empty it out cuz I don't want the water getting on the floor.

Our windows are sliders so we've always had to add boards to make the window unit fit. Our old conditioner was big, old, very heavy, and I'm sure not very energy efficient. . It had also become difficult to put it in and remove it. This was very easy to install. It's in the livingroom and cools the house. Our old one was 10,000 btu, and this one is 14,000 btu. We always had a small window unit in our bedroom but this year we bought a small cooling fan/air conditioner that just plugs in. We're not sure if we'll actually need it because this Garvee 14,000 cools so well. We've been using the auto fan setting and don't have to set the temperature lower than 68°. It's just a little noisier than I hoped but I'm still giving it 5 stars.

The unit is VERY loud. I always sleep with a couple fans for the white noise but this unit is even too loud for me. It works ok to cool a room. I’ve always used a window unit but purchased this hoping for easier installation and not as much open window. However neither issue was better then a window unit .

I have had the Garvee 14000 BTU a/c since July 3. It has cooled my 600 Sq foot room down easily and was a breeze to install. So far I have had no issues with it. Amazon has a good price on it too.
